minxy: Aeryn strength by saeva (Aeryn strength by saeva)
Hello.

Wow, that really kind of took it out of me, that whole "think up a greeting" thing. You ever have a day when you realize it will be an absolute miracle if you eat anything healthy for you? My food intake today has consisted of: coffee, cake, and pepperoni. Recently, after the healthy food revelation: tea and dark chocolate. I've only switched to tea because it's afternoon, and I am so far really not on board with the time change yet. This is my attempt to conform. But without actually preparing any food save tea.

In which our author discusses the recovery from the melt-down of last week, in a lot of run-on sentences: )

So this email is partly to say I'm feeling much better, thanks for the hugs, and it's partly to mention a couple of things.

1. Ada Lovelace was an awesome software programmer back in the day, did you know? Some might argue that you cannot squee too much about awesome women role models, or about happy things in general. A few intrepid folks declared a 'blog about awesome women in science and technology day!" on March 23, and this is the second year of the event. They'd love to surpass the number of bloggers from last year, so this is a signal boost to say, hey, if you admire a woman in science or technology (broadly defined: past or present, famous or not, someone you know or someone you fangirl), consider pledging to talk about it on Tuesday. Or just do it on Tuesday and link back so they can count you.

There are some awesome techy, sciency women hereabouts.

Go here to learn more, follow the links to pledge. On the 24th, you'll also be able to go there to drop a link to your post. Ada Lovelace Day

Some interesting things you might want to consider: Why March 23rd? Why Ada Lovelace? Whom shall I discuss on my platform that day?

2. There was a nifty post on women and men and bravado and violence and advice and experience by [personal profile] rachelmanija/[livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija, (Why didn't you kick him in the balls? (mirrored at LJ, different comments,). The finding and reading of Rachel's post brought home to me the value of the crossposting footers on DW, because the comments on the different platforms were illuminating and illustrative. I followed [personal profile] cesare's guide to how to customize the footers to show the number of comments on the DW post and link back. This post is a test of my coding. Also, an invitation to friend/defriend/watch etc on whichever platform you like. I've realized quite a few people are in both places recently, and I'm chuffed to be able to find them where ever is most convenient. Now you too can experience the joy of me in whatever fashion you choose!

Er, I do realize that I'm not terribly interesting, fannishly, of late. I am a bear of very little brain available for extracurricular activities. I am considering archiving fic at AO3 or a website somewhere, at some point. I'm also considering (for the first time in aaaaaaaages) reworking the fairly good beginning of a giant story I'm never going to write, into possibly a fairly nifty stand alone story. Anyone with any advice there, please drop some wisdom on me; it's been a long time since I've tried to write anything fannish, and I feel rusted shut (oh, Teal'c, your patience is so formidable.)
