Hellooooo, fandom.

On the occasion of the prompt based [livejournal.com profile] galpalficathon (multifandom, no commitment!) I thought I would clear out my quotes folder. This is an attempt at organization before I head over there to drop prompts (prompts accepted between September 2-8th, writing due November 16th.) I love prompting from literary quotes and poems, but sometimes I do tend to repeat myself, so I thought, you know, in the interests of not ending up with both [livejournal.com profile] apocalypse_kree and [livejournal.com profile] galpalficathon prompts being identical...

On the other hand, wouldn't that be awesome? Seeing the same prompt taken to an apocafic place and a women's friendship place? That might be amazing.

Anyway, I'm still going to clear out the folder. You are most welcome to use these for whatever nefarious purpose your little heads can devise. Please let me know if your nefarious heads devise fic, though; don't want to miss that.

This morning I reached for some fake sugar without really looking at what I was doing; whole wheat lasagna noodles poured all down my arm onto the dish rack. I put them back with a fairly bemused attitude about it, but didn't clean any of the dishes again because I noticed the coffee maker gurgling grounds onto the counter. It was that kind of morning.

But yesterday was made of win because I, in my first ever ficathon moderator post, sent out 40+ Gateverse Remix assignments. I'm pleased to say that only one bounced back at me because the email address couldn't be found, and I'd failed to change the salutation name in two emails, but got the assignment correct, which I feel is probably more important (self identity and such notwithstanding.)

I've only second-guessed one or two assignments, even, one of which being my own (omgwhatwasIthinkingtooooohaaaaaard...) but I read a poem today that is really, really Vala, and I think it might help direct the story choice.

Super seekret confession: my remix technique is to pick a story as fast as possible so as to have lots and lots of time to live in the world and learn it, make it my story, that kind of thing. Which means I'm already behind on picking a story, dammit.

QUOTE DUMP! First poem is the one that makes me think of Vala. There are a number of traveling quotes too. )

I must do a drive by posting now to remind y'all that this is the last weekend to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] gateverse_remix, so post your fifth story*, check your calendar and comment at the sign-up post by midnight Monday, Pacific Standard Time.

(this has been a public service announcement from your friendly neighborhood mod-pimp)

(which is like a hippy pimp, but a slightly different era and body posture)

*Five stories of over one thousand words is the eligibility requirement per Gateverse fandom for the remix, several people were really really close to the cutoff and sad about missing eligibility. Which also made me sad (unless they post a story by Monday and sign up, in which case I'd be happy!), but it'll make future rounds that much more kick-ass if they can sign up then, you know?**

**I think that footnote became longer than the post. This has been such a wierd day.

p.s. Go check out [livejournal.com profile] gateverse_remix, yay!

I am considering signing up for I Saw Three Ships. I ponder, because I've signed up for the [livejournal.com profile] dark_gate challenge, but I really do want to encourage threesome smut (and I am more or less unemployed for the next month and a half)... And I'm pretty sure I could write a decent threesome in SG-1, SGA or Firefly. So maybe. Especially since Alizarin has taught me how to really love Inara instead of liking her/tolerating her pining after someone she can't talk to.

[livejournal.com profile] secret_slasha also entertains me, though I really only have seen a handful of Buffy eps ever. Then there's Yuletide, which I'm watching with a sort of detached amusement, where last year it was with a rather gobsmacked sort of impressed. I mean, over 800 people signed up? Yowsa.

The whole point of this post, though, is to mention the following:

[livejournal.com profile] 3_ships signups close tomorrow, which is also when we are rid of the political ads on T.V! Yay!
[livejournal.com profile] yuletide signups are closed, but it's fun to watch the community start to stress out already (that's going to come back to karmically bite me on the ass, I just know it.)
[livejournal.com profile] secret_slasha signups are still open, this years theme being Letters to Santa, I gather.
There is also something called Don We Now Our Gay Apparel, which I honestly thought had to be QAF, but turns out to be... boybands? *shrugs* If, um, you're interested (no, I'm sure we have other common interests) signups are still open for a few more days. (I mean, seriously! How is that not Queer as Folk?)
[livejournal.com profile] passion_perfect seems to be a femslash fic exchange.
WAIT... there's a [livejournal.com profile] stargate_santa? Actually, I can't tell if this is running this year or not.

It's just a mad, mad, mad ficathon time of year, isn't it? I should really finish the fic I'm writing at the moment and get on writing the one I have already received a prompt for.
