You miss out on the really good smut. Or something.

Right, so I'm out of practice, but what I've found is this:

Sweet (which is something, considering it's hilarious Wash and Jayne) Firefly ficlet from [livejournal.com profile] alizarin_nyc. Great Balls of Fire, for likeadeuce. Jayne, Wash and alcohol. Yes. Worksafe.

From [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt, Eclipsed series Part 9, after which we all fear the awkwardness of being on the brink of a hard conversation. Strength, Jane! Writing hurts! This bit is only R rated, since the boys are at a turning point and trying to stay clothed and civil.

[livejournal.com profile] surrealphantast is gauging interest in an slash/het/multiples inclusive STFU and Just Write PORN! Stargate ficathon. Go, opinion, be merry.

MEH. My chest cold, I fear, has regrouped and become a sinus infection. I'm not sure, the jury's still out, but I fear. Also? My froggy voice is preventing me from following up on outstanding job applications during my hour or so of really feeling pretty decent first thing in the morning, and OMG I want to talk to these people.

But, on the upside, I did not get up before dawn this morning. Go me!

So cheer me, my people. Recommend some fanfiction from the last month or so. Lately all I see are NaNoRiMo stats and I gotsta get back in the swing...

This blew me away. It's multimedia, complete with movie clips, audio clips, pics. . . John and Rodney, WWII. Enjoy!

Benificence (http://alizarin-nyc.livejournal.com/76601.html#cutid1) is the alizarin-authored smut you want. good stuff.

i'm so sorry about your cold. it's too early for it to be a sinus infection. takes about a week.

Ah, but the fear sets in instantaneously. *eats nachos in consolation*

And, you were so, so right. Jayne/Inara? AMAZING. Dark and wonderous. That's perfectly in character and yet so much more complex writing for Inara than I've seen, both in fanfic and on the show. Still reeling from that one, obviously.

yeaaaahhhh. *nods wisely* that's the good stuff.

*steals your nachos* it's not a sinus infection yet. *I* didn't get a sinus infection and i've been struggling with this damn cold for about nine days. i'm down to the occasional clear phlegm. (i know you wanted to know that.)

I R a doctor, I LIVE for this kind of information. Plus, now you've left a more or less open invitation for me to complain (when it all gets to be too much) that I am a giant ball of snot without a serial killer to love me in spite of it.

Yes, for lo, I am in sex withdrawl. AND I'm sick. I suffer.

*falls melodramatically onto nearby chaise lounge*

Robitussin. It's what's for dessert. Plus, I love that icon.

Hey, you're a doctor like _Raqs_ is a doctor -- great for keeping around for one's humility, but not exactly a physician either. This is sort of a sore point with me, for, lo, when I first pursued her, I was misled by her "Doctor seeks companion" into thinking she would be able to teach me anatomy and know all that muscle and sinew stuff. What's really embarrassing, of course, is that I didn't get the Dr. Who reference.

Can't help about the withdrawal, except to say that while we're tickled pink that you got what you so clearly deserved and needed, you should understand that there would have to have been an intensive (and don't underestimate my internet stalking skills) background check and interview process before he could have been declared Even Remotely Good Enough for you for anything long-term.

*psssst* It's possible to be both. Not that I ever intend to practice medicine at this point.

Heh. I love when people look out for me. And while the idea of a foreign romance gone real is seductive, it partly worked because we didn't ask anything of each other. I'm mostly convinced this will all fall apart if we push it, not least because OMG he snores, but he was one helluva attentive lover. I think I shall use this as incentive for really finding a good hearted man when I move to my new city. Yes. For I love adventures, and new cities are marvelous adventures (unless you are Raqs and you vehemently dislike your new city.)

But I'm glad to know your internet stalking skills are poised to be used for good. And he'd probably fail a few questions. I know my extremely, wonderfully blunt roommate from college will be verbally slapping me upside the head when she hears.

Oh, you're so welcome. Glad you got past the block.

And you know what they say about Doctors being rotten patients? I hate being sick. It is very annoying to me when my attempts to feed and water and rest my person do not result in immediate improvement.

{{hugs}} on the cold and applications front. If you need somewhere to vent about the latter... go right on ahead!

On the fics front... Despite the fact that a certain silver haired fox and his (equally gorgeous) team from the Navy Yard have taken up residence in the ol' grey matter... I have been reading SG-1 fic!

The results from the [livejournal.com profile] sg1_five_things are usually very good reading every two weeks or so.

Berty [livejournal.com profile] bertybertle wrote a corking SG-1 stranded story for [livejournal.com profile] saladscream's b'day while you were away. Called 'Belonging' (http://bertybertle.livejournal.com/5577.html) it is a thing of beauty.

Talking of things of beauty and wandering over to my more 'normal' frames of references... (namely TV and film)

Torchwood has started and it is indeed a thing of great wonder and beauty. Captain Jack and he is... different. Just be careful of your heart. he'll still break it for you and you'll be glad of it.

Jane Eyre has been just bloody wonderful. Is only 4 episodes long but it could have been 8 and I still would have enjoyed every single moment of it. Wonderful stuff!

Children of Men is the kind of SF film I think you'd get a great kick out of. Hasn't been released in the US yet (ask Mabi - he knows these things!) but when it does... go see!

Just bloody glad to have you back, m'dear!

Can I just apologise for my complete and utter disregard for the english language in the last post?!

Brain is doing warp speed, fingers are still on sublight!

Heartfelt apologies!

From: [identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_minxy_/
Aw, thanks for the welcome, and Berty's story sounds marvelous. I shall read as soon as I've had a cup of tea to jump start the brain (coffee isn't good for sick brains, only tea will serve).

I remember when the Five Things comm started, and I was just too frazzled to participate, so how glad am I that it took off without any help from me? Thiiiiis glad!

Will look for all recommended shows, but am currently a gazillion episodes behind on Dr. 10 already... how can a girl keep up? Good thing I have yooooou.

Happy to be back (though I would be happier if I didn't have this cold.)

Diary is back
