recs post, arrr.
Sep. 19th, 2006 03:30 pmI haven't actually seen the little eyepatches that people keep on about, but of all the randomly created holidays, Talk Like a Pirate Day/Week is much more entertaining to me than, say, Valentine's Day. Plus I've always enjoyed the 'arrr!' sound/word/thing. Arrr.
Aaaaaarrrrrrrrrr, from
spark_force. Funny! Hee!
Other pirates: Sam and Vala, in
sdraevn's ongoing crackfic of marvelousness: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.
Right. Recs post!
ltlj has added to her Hunting Parties 'verse with a return to Tasiben once life is back to 'run for it' normal. I really love the straight-forward way she tells a story, and how it builds the world with such an economy of description at the same time. Backstory on this 'verse: John was captured on a planet under invasion, badly whumped, eventually hooked up with the resistance (had a bit of a thing for the head resistance guy) and then was rescued by the team. Now you're up to speed, have Foreign Affairs, part 1 (stands alone), slash, PG-13 for this part.
I'm loving the recs for team gen fics by
sg1_fignewton over at
stargateficrec and just found this really amazing thing from
katie_m: Combinations, to
troyswann's challenge of name based prompts. 10 snippets, amazing relationships between the characters. Just amazing, complex, subtle, individual, relevant.... amazing. PG, gen.
janedavitt kicks off what I hope (I think
jenlev and
rydra_wong will support me here) will be many, many more Company of Thieves tags with 911, Jack and Daniel, PG, maybe G.
I committed fic! Remember when I used to do that? I would say this one is *expressive hand gesture* cute, without being sappy. Yes. My objective opinion. Don't read if you're on a diet, though.
Cameron being adorable whilst getting kicked out of various places: My Pappy Was A Pistol, I'm a Son Of A Gun, gen, R rating, from
minervacat. Seriously, I love when Cam's grandmother is involved. Seriously very funny and wonderful.
kuwdora is taking
pegasus_b into a new wonderful direction with her PegH(oly Crap) au of an au. Fantastic so far, building on the fanon for this au and introducing a marvelously small Teal'c (no, I don't mean literally 'small' I mean... well, you'll see.) Breeding Evil, Wonderful, Karma's a Bitch post. Sekrit to kuwdora: titles are love! YAY!
teand wrote a great five things for Janet, in which she remains professional and spunky, and says hilarious things in a marvelous internal dialog Janet voice. Five Things Janet Fraiser Didn't Put in her Medical Reports, for
ducks_in_a_row.
Along the same lines,
minnow1212 wrote great Five Things for John and Ronon. I may be a bit of a sucker for good Ronon fics, but I refuse to apologize. Also? Her Firefly Five Things are marvelous too.
Speaking of Firefly, vehemently (=
vee_fic) was organizing a while back and posted some snippets for archive's sake. Bad Hour Betwixt is marvelous River and Mal understanding each other a bit too well, and Simon and Zoe observing it completely differently. I love Zoe. She also posted and Alias/MI-5(Spooks) crossover set during that time when Sydney was missing and bouncing all over the world, and this fic is WILL (whom I also really love) and Jack (AKA SpyDaddy, also with the love). Highwire, for the crossover spy porn (!) challenge.
sdraevn has been five thinging away marvelously, posting snippets she says she can't finish (Meet the McKays, which scared me a little bit) and then posting MORE for you in the comments, and tags (well, one tag) for Common Ground called Through A Glass Darkly. Much goodness to be read over there. So much fannish reading. My kinda girl.
lyrstzha wrote a Cam/Teal'c set of Five Things! Well, Cam, with the occasional side of Teal'c (R rated), but any rarer pairing goodness is to be applauded (especially when I thought I knew all the Cam/Teal'c writers and could count them on four fingers, you know?) Rare pairings rah rah rah!
In a wonderous pick-me-up-and-smack-me-with-pretty fic,
thegrrrl2002 brought mensa!John over from Rod's universe and threw everybody in bed together. Yes. *nods* How It's Done. Poly.
Also. And I hope you all give this a shot through the unusual format: Rodney McKay's Diary from
rageprufrock. It's a WIP, like lots of Pru's LJ posted stuff, but I laughed so hard I forgot to be even a little annoyed by that fact. McKay's Diary, handwritten and REALLY FUNNY, in .pdf format can be downloaded from this link: Rodney's Diary post. Slash and over the top and wonderful.
I'm still enjoying Coming Home, and recommend it for those of you who would also enjoy gleeful au BDSM universe romance of the epic kind. I do believe that Xanthe is posting the last sections either tonight or tomorrow, if you have been waiting to read (I'm losing all 'I won't read WIPs street cred, aren't I? But she had finished it and just likest to torture by drawing it out!... erm.)
An author known as Cypher (or, apparently,
seikaitsukimizu, which is pronouced 'the author known as Cypher'), posted a Rodney/John Absolute Power AU, where Daniel is really darkside, and Rodney is his head scientist after Sam is thrown in jail, and John is a resistance member caught in the act of sabotage. Lord, but Daniel is creepy in this, and the tangle of trust and not is pretty marvelous too. Normally a person given to another as a pet or slave isn't really my thing, but I enjoyed this very much: Absolute Corruption, part 1, part 2. Slash, R.
Um, I think that's it for now. Stay out of trouble, kiddies. ETA: I see the eye-patches now. Arrr.

Date: 2006-09-20 07:51 am (UTC)You can try! I warn you, I am in very good health. *thumps chest* (ow.)
Much love for the titles! *looooooves*
