I haven't actually seen the little eyepatches that people keep on about, but of all the randomly created holidays, Talk Like a Pirate Day/Week is much more entertaining to me than, say, Valentine's Day. Plus I've always enjoyed the 'arrr!' sound/word/thing. Arrr.

Aaaaaarrrrrrrrrr, from [livejournal.com profile] spark_force. Funny! Hee!

Other pirates: Sam and Vala, in [livejournal.com profile] sdraevn's ongoing crackfic of marvelousness: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Right. Recs post!

[livejournal.com profile] ltlj has added to her Hunting Parties 'verse with a return to Tasiben once life is back to 'run for it' normal. I really love the straight-forward way she tells a story, and how it builds the world with such an economy of description at the same time. Backstory on this 'verse: John was captured on a planet under invasion, badly whumped, eventually hooked up with the resistance (had a bit of a thing for the head resistance guy) and then was rescued by the team. Now you're up to speed, have Foreign Affairs, part 1 (stands alone), slash, PG-13 for this part.

I'm loving the recs for team gen fics by [livejournal.com profile] sg1_fignewton over at [livejournal.com profile] stargateficrec and just found this really amazing thing from [livejournal.com profile] katie_m: Combinations, to [livejournal.com profile] troyswann's challenge of name based prompts. 10 snippets, amazing relationships between the characters. Just amazing, complex, subtle, individual, relevant.... amazing. PG, gen.

[livejournal.com profile] janedavitt kicks off what I hope (I think [livejournal.com profile] jenlev and [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong will support me here) will be many, many more Company of Thieves tags with 911, Jack and Daniel, PG, maybe G.

I committed fic! Remember when I used to do that? I would say this one is *expressive hand gesture* cute, without being sappy. Yes. My objective opinion. Don't read if you're on a diet, though.

Cameron being adorable whilst getting kicked out of various places: My Pappy Was A Pistol, I'm a Son Of A Gun, gen, R rating, from [livejournal.com profile] minervacat. Seriously, I love when Cam's grandmother is involved. Seriously very funny and wonderful.

[livejournal.com profile] kuwdora is taking [livejournal.com profile] pegasus_b into a new wonderful direction with her PegH(oly Crap) au of an au. Fantastic so far, building on the fanon for this au and introducing a marvelously small Teal'c (no, I don't mean literally 'small' I mean... well, you'll see.) Breeding Evil, Wonderful, Karma's a Bitch post. Sekrit to kuwdora: titles are love! YAY!

[livejournal.com profile] teand wrote a great five things for Janet, in which she remains professional and spunky, and says hilarious things in a marvelous internal dialog Janet voice. Five Things Janet Fraiser Didn't Put in her Medical Reports, for [livejournal.com profile] ducks_in_a_row.

Along the same lines, [livejournal.com profile] minnow1212 wrote great Five Things for John and Ronon. I may be a bit of a sucker for good Ronon fics, but I refuse to apologize. Also? Her Firefly Five Things are marvelous too.

Speaking of Firefly, vehemently (=[livejournal.com profile] vee_fic) was organizing a while back and posted some snippets for archive's sake. Bad Hour Betwixt is marvelous River and Mal understanding each other a bit too well, and Simon and Zoe observing it completely differently. I love Zoe. She also posted and Alias/MI-5(Spooks) crossover set during that time when Sydney was missing and bouncing all over the world, and this fic is WILL (whom I also really love) and Jack (AKA SpyDaddy, also with the love). Highwire, for the crossover spy porn (!) challenge.

[livejournal.com profile] sdraevn has been five thinging away marvelously, posting snippets she says she can't finish (Meet the McKays, which scared me a little bit) and then posting MORE for you in the comments, and tags (well, one tag) for Common Ground called Through A Glass Darkly. Much goodness to be read over there. So much fannish reading. My kinda girl.

[livejournal.com profile] lyrstzha wrote a Cam/Teal'c set of Five Things! Well, Cam, with the occasional side of Teal'c (R rated), but any rarer pairing goodness is to be applauded (especially when I thought I knew all the Cam/Teal'c writers and could count them on four fingers, you know?) Rare pairings rah rah rah!

In a wonderous pick-me-up-and-smack-me-with-pretty fic, [livejournal.com profile] thegrrrl2002 brought mensa!John over from Rod's universe and threw everybody in bed together. Yes. *nods* How It's Done. Poly.

Also. And I hope you all give this a shot through the unusual format: Rodney McKay's Diary from [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock. It's a WIP, like lots of Pru's LJ posted stuff, but I laughed so hard I forgot to be even a little annoyed by that fact. McKay's Diary, handwritten and REALLY FUNNY, in .pdf format can be downloaded from this link: Rodney's Diary post. Slash and over the top and wonderful.

I'm still enjoying Coming Home, and recommend it for those of you who would also enjoy gleeful au BDSM universe romance of the epic kind. I do believe that Xanthe is posting the last sections either tonight or tomorrow, if you have been waiting to read (I'm losing all 'I won't read WIPs street cred, aren't I? But she had finished it and just likest to torture by drawing it out!... erm.)

An author known as Cypher (or, apparently, [livejournal.com profile] seikaitsukimizu, which is pronouced 'the author known as Cypher'), posted a Rodney/John Absolute Power AU, where Daniel is really darkside, and Rodney is his head scientist after Sam is thrown in jail, and John is a resistance member caught in the act of sabotage. Lord, but Daniel is creepy in this, and the tangle of trust and not is pretty marvelous too. Normally a person given to another as a pet or slave isn't really my thing, but I enjoyed this very much: Absolute Corruption, part 1, part 2. Slash, R.

Um, I think that's it for now. Stay out of trouble, kiddies. ETA: I see the eye-patches now. Arrr.

Hey, now. The third in the pegH I've posted has a title--Karma's a Bitch. *nods*

Titles don't come easy, yanno I suppose it could help with identification purposes... *sighs* I'm terrible with titles.

Ooops! Um... *fixes*

I've been known to randomly title things when I'm reccing (The One With Ba'al, The One Where There Is Sexxors, The One In Which Rodney Misbehaves...) so I'll probably that once I lose track of whether that's the 3rd or the 5th snippet. I R dum.

Still pondering a tag myself.

*laughs, in a slightly alarmed way*

Well, I suppose I really meant 'don't do anything I wouldn't do', which really leaves the field pretty wide open.

Did you read the first fic?

Thank you for the five-things-Janet rec. Very fun.

May I ask... wtf is with your icon, and does it have anything to do with the chickenverse (http://pics.livejournal.com/katiedammit/pic/000bge6d)? :)

LOL, that icon is one of my very favorite bits of nonsense in the world. I believe it's meant to be a commentary about how John's hair is a bird's nest, but I prefer the more haughty 'absurdist statement' explanation.

I am always on the lookout for good Janet. I miss her terribly. In fact, I'll risk reading really terrible looking fics (based on headers) much more often for Janet, and boy, did I read some truly horrendous Five Janet Things. *shivers* Glad you liked Teand's.

Man, I was about gobsmacked by that fic. Meant to f/b too, but my browser doesn't do the mail to: address thing and I got sidetracked. But I really liked those snippetys! Really really. *hopes it makes up for lack of f/b*

Titles for my pegH snippets!

Date: 2006-09-20 02:50 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kuwdora.livejournal.com

Hey! I came up with titles for my snippets!

Okay, so the first one is called Breeding Evil (http://community.livejournal.com/pegasus_b/82152.html) (clever, huh?), the second one is called Wonderful (http://community.livejournal.com/pegasus_b/82464.html#cutid1) and as you already know, the last one is called Karma's a Bitch. Though, I suggest you check back on Karma's a Bitch (http://community.livejournal.com/pegasus_b/82874.html#cutid2) because I made a small tweak to it that changes a lot.

Really, I think I'm going to keep writing until I give you an anuerysm. Which may very well happen once I get to this--well, you'll see eventually.

Many thanks for the rec. (Multiple recs!) Although, it did not occur to me to squat at [livejournal.com profile] vehemently, so that person is not me!

I wish I had thought of that, though, because I know more people ever knew me as the whole name than as the short nickname. Sadly, that journal looks to be locked to friends, so I have no idea what this person who shares my handle is into. (Maybe that's for the best.)

Date: 2006-09-20 07:46 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_minxy_/
Well goodness! That can't be right! I shall change immediately, although the links go to the right place, at least... just assumed that was the fic journal and vehemently was you. Huh.

It might well be for the best that you don't know what the other Vehemently gets up to. There's a woman out there with my RL name who writes absolutely cringe-worthy bodice rippers that mess with my attempts to google myself (although, it is entertaining that I own a copy of one in English and one in French. I don't read French, but I'm pretty sure I know what it's about.)

*snort* yeeeeees, it's very deep. Deep like a deep glass of soda.

Ah, RL, how crazy she can be. Mine calmed down in one way and calmed up in 20 others, but at least I'm writing again. I missed telling stories. Hope you can get back to it soon, but stay sane in the meanwhile. *pets you* *kicks RL and tells it to take a time out*

Glad you liked. Lately I've been reccing lots of fic all at once, so I'm always worried I'll forget something I really enjoyed at the time, but I think it's working out pretty well. Glad you're enjoying.

Hello, my name's Martha and I saw your comment regarding having a weakness for decent Ronon fics so thought I'd share my latest find, just in case you hadn't run across it. It's a gen team story and Ronon-centric and felt, to me, like a written tapestry. You can find it here:
