1. I think we should name our first band "Mutant Love Child". The Boy I Left Behind favors "Oxy and the Morons". Does he win for oblique science reference?

2. I am knitting the most ridiculously wonderful colorwork socks ever, and I'm 80% done. I have sarah and synecdochic to thank for giving me the Knit Picks Palette sock yarn. If I didn't have so many single balls of color, I wouldn't have taken this one, and I LOVE THESE SOCKS.

2b. Next week, I am touring Schaefer Yarns in the Fingerlakes! OMG!

3. I get to go pick up new glasses tomorrow, and I got two frames this time: one is a tortoise-shell/sexy librarian kind of look (or, one hopes, sexy professora) and the other is a deceptively mild-mannered looking wire frame from the front, but it has lime-green temple pieces. It made me happy. My current pair has served me well for five years, but now they're permanently askew on my face. I really don't thing the 'permanently quizzical' look is the kind of professoral look I'm going for.

4. The lake was especially lovely this evening, wish you were here.

My Mom is also from Western New York! She's so chuffed that I'm here that she's planning a reunion at my house. I think it's partly to do with Nana passing two years ago now, and now none of them have a reason to return to the area.

And, it's a wonder that they don't give all of us glass thingys on arrival!

(the new frames sit so much better! It was worth the savings)
