I was disturbed today when I realized that a blueberry bagel was the highlight of my day.
So I read some fanfic, and life was better; this is why I love you people.
I am enjoying:
sg1_five_things, particularly the recently unscreened Five things SG-1 mutually agreed to omit from their mission reports. and Five times Cameron had sex with a member of SG-1.
Multiverse: Dr. Who and Daniel Jackson, pre-SG-1, from
medie: I make the glare for light bulbs. Quirky and wierd and marvelous communication between two lateral thinkers. Worksafe.
janedavitt's darker version of Cam's mind during the finale. Makes you ache for the happy fanboy we first met, but never once do you doubt the plausibility. With Brief Thanksgiving, dark, with sexual references, but probably worksafe.
rowan_d's Sam and Jack from the ficathon: Stellar Drift. Fascinating change in the relationship, and in character for both to change the way they do. R rated, I think. Probably not worksafe. Sam/Jack.
cofax7's
apocalypse_kree fic Strange Celebrations. After the end, after the mission, after their choices, it's amazing how they are simultaneously less restricted and less comforted. Worksafe, gen.
Mechanisms of Restraint, which begins with a non-con situation and... and I read it anyway. Non-con = not my favorite, but it was worth it for
paian's writing alone. Additionally for the aftermath she builds and takes them wonderfully through, and for her unflinchingly honest look at who Jack and Daniel would be, were and would become given this set of variables. Fascinating. Not worksafe on many levels, though. Jack/Daniel.
For something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT (I'm so not kidding), please to be reading Thank You for Flying the Church of England by
someinstant. It's cracktastic, it's witty like Douglas Adams, it's LOVE IN THE FORM OF FOOTNOTES. It's worksafe.
abyssinia4077's romp through silly food as comfort. Sam and Teal'c, Feeling Blue, lovely tag to S9's New Order. I think it was S9. Maybe it was S8. ANYWAY, gen, worksafe.
I'm having a day, people. Please forgive the capslock abuse.
Randomly, Firefly: Mal and Simon and Inara, in a desperately not serious caper that requires tact and gentility and patience and you just know there will be issues once Mal gets involved. Enjoyed the banters and the affrontedness and the adaptability and the reactions to same. Blue Willow, by
gritkitty. Worksafe.
Jack and Daniel section:
Sweet routine and old married love: Third Watch, by Zillah. worksafe.
niamaea's Jack/Daniel ficathon piece: The Worth of Things Not Said, which has a marvelous conversation in fits and starts woven through episodes we've seen in S8. Love that they take so long to get on the same page, without any magical telepathy or understanding. Love that they're caught up in their own heads and issues, love that they surprise the other so absolutely sometimes. Pining, as it should be done. Very, very nice, happy piece. Not worksafe, though.
I hope that
sidlj and
michare1a had marvelous birthdays.
