I watched John Winchester be a bad guy silently on Walker Texas Ranger at the gym tonight. He looked conflicted. Course, the girl looked like George from Dead Like Me sometimes, but I don't think she actually was. I was running and listening to my dance mix on my headphones and thus really wasn't paying much attention. Surprisingly, running didn't hurt that much, but the machine is so, so wrong about the elliptical workout burning more calories. I am THRASHED.

But, I can still code, man. *fists of determination*

[livejournal.com profile] minnow1212 has posted an extraordinary team love ficlette for SGA. Home and family and love and time and instinct and belonging. It's wonderful. Ronon's story was heartbreakingly intimate, I think. Gen, team. Rise, worksafe.

More SGA: team strong-friendshippy/poly thing from [livejournal.com profile] psychofilly. The teamy love and goodness is fantastic, right along side a good dose of how bad things can go. John's trust is sweet and his paranoia seems earned. Love is Not a Victory March, poly, worksafe, future fic.

From [livejournal.com profile] helenish, a delightfully confusing fall with mystery: This Gun's for Hire, John/Rodney among others, not-worksafe, SGA.

[livejournal.com profile] denynothing1 had a great response to the recent kerfuffles, which was to write satire. Really good satire, subtle and biting and funny and sad. Ronon is upstaged by cats. 'Nuff said. We Laughed, We Cried, worksafe, gen, AU (Atlantis and SG-1 are partly cast with animals).

And now for a random left-turn into Firefly: a fantastic autonomous Inara needing the crew, and finding them right where she needs them to be. Miles From Where You Are, by [livejournal.com profile] ana_grrl. Gen, worksafe, Firefly.

Weight and Motion and sequels Wild and Unwise and Core and Mind are a fantastic set of fics by [livejournal.com profile] sevenfists taking Dean Winchester into the Serenity/Firefly 'verse post-big damn movie. The characters and reactions all feel spot on for after the movie, and the Dean/Mal is a fantastic chemistry and development. About 30,000 all together, NC-17, Crossover. Props to [livejournal.com profile] destina for requesting a sequel.

SPN series that's a WIP, but each one stands alone: Five Times Dean Winchester Batted His Eyelashes During a Hunt (1/5). This so worked for me, he would so pull a stunt like that. Gen, worksafe, by [livejournal.com profile] researchgrrrl (you are all *fired* for not telling me about this woman's writing.)

Aaaaaand, back to SG-1: a great Sam and Jack from [livejournal.com profile] splash_the_cat's archives. This is a great pep-talk from Jack in the face of yet another blase end-of-the-world-SAVE-US burden on Sam's shoulders. I enjoyed Teal'c and Jonas too. Way Smarter, S6, Sam and Jack and team, work-safe.

Another in the pantheon of bloody marvelous Lost City fics from [livejournal.com profile] paian: bittersweet and wonderful and great, great partnership. And sexy as hell. Thin Ice, not worksafe, Jack/Daniel, wonderful.

Also from [livejournal.com profile] paian: the angsty Tough Choice, post S8's Endgame. Not nearly as bittersweetly happy as Thin Ice, but satisfying in it's own angsty way, not least for the promise of the long fic it might be part of. Not worksafe, Jack/Daniel, SG-1.

Okay, last from [livejournal.com profile] paian for the moment (I think--I have had the luscious experience of finding new stuff through her archiving posts lately): Body Memory. Lots of starting over and established relationship remembered and forgotten, and it is an amazing arc for both Jack and Daniel. Not worksafe, Jack/Daniel, SG-1.

Lastly, thank goodness for [livejournal.com profile] teand, else [livejournal.com profile] paian would be singlehandedly responsible for all the Jack/Daniel on this list. Fortunately, [livejournal.com profile] riverfox had a birthday, and she was written a drabble with some impressive voices and emotion. Half-Crazy, S9 or 10 (no real spoilers, though), worksafe, SG-1, Jack/Daniel.

And in conclusion, I have a drawn bath in the here and now and Farscape DVDs in my future. 'Scuse me.

*loves you liek whoa*

Recent kerfuffles or whatnot aside, I really am loving dipping my toes in this fandom. And the stories I'm reading, oh Nelly, they are extraordinary.

*gets comfy and prepares to stay a while*

Recs and links are always welcome. Always always.

Kerfuffle, schmuffle. When I get home from work today, I'll compile a wee email for you. *g* There's an amazing amount of fantastic stories in this fandom, no question. It's definitely the first fandom where I've read and written as much or more gen than anything else, and there's so much out there to read that it's kind of awesome. :D

Oh, that's fantastic. There is an aspect of arriving fashionably late, where you can get really overwhelmed by massive lists of everything anyone's ever written. I usually have a dozen or so SPN stories in my To Read pile at any given time... and those I found almost exclusively from friend's recs, so it seems to be a really good way to go so far.

Recs! Who knew??? It's like karma coming back around again.

Yes! I arrived late, too. It took a long, fantastic time for me to get caught up. Although I don't know if I'm truly caught up. I still happen across awesome stories from the first year of the fandom, which I somehow missed in my burn through the recs lists, and then I'm excited all over again. *g*

I didn't talk about communities in the email I just sent you, but I can do that, too. Let me know. :)

Recs go around and come around, yes. I'm almost sure I read that on your rec (which we might need to explain to splash if she gets a windfall of f/b on that piece from years ago and wonders why. Hee!)

Let me know if you want a cream of the crop recs list for SGA, yeah?

Yeah, that's bullshit. Even indoors (especially indoors!), the treadmill is a much tougher workout than the elliptical machines. I'd rather run outdoors, though: Van Morrison has gotten me up some very steep hills.

Look at you with your SPN recs! Joy! Also, check back in my Delicious page: I've got a link to a FANTASTIC story by Researchgrrrl.

And tonight I will watch Unending, so I can go read these stories set after the end of SG-1 S10.

Ooooh, if you're watching Unending, maybe I can get my tag for it posted. Beta land is a little bit of a black hole at the moment, so I may have to tweak later a bit, but it might be worth it. It's been like 3 months since I've posted a story...

I'm psyched about this researchgrrl woman. Her writing was tight.

I've decided though, that by foot or by bike, I'm commuting without car to New Job. Everything I'm looking at as living space is between 3 and 8 miles from the lab, so I'm thinking that bike for everyday and running as a growing habit, is going to be the way to go. Which means I should start running and biking somewhere in my workout routine.

But, gotta take advantage of that renowned weather!
