[livejournal.com profile] svendra and [livejournal.com profile] mmmchelle are running what looks to be a bloody marvelous challenge: the femslash cliche challenge. Seriously, has this never been done before? SERIOUSLY??? Because now I really want a satirical, over the top and yet strangely sexy, undeniably arousing, FEMALE SLASH FIC. I leave the cliche up to you, but I'm thinking Aliens Made Them Do It and then got bored with how much foreplay was involved and went away whilst our heroes (I dislike the word heroine, sue me) get on with it and enjoy themselves. [livejournal.com profile] alien_altars, people. I hope to see you all there.

I was outside today doing plumbing work (outdoor) when I wasn't sorting out a problem with the bracing in the wall frames and covering up a little oops with a failure to sink the bolts properly into the concrete foundation (there really isn't a way to go back and fix that.) And that's after I sewed the other arm on my Mother's wing chair that she wants a slipcover for (*patterned*, God help me, again. She never makes it easy) and found half a dozen apartments I wouldn't mind living in from Craig's List in the New City.

So you may imagine why my hands are tired I thought I had nothing of note to post.

But I was wrong, because I have this cheeky new browser! Yay! That is much more compatible with my del.icio.us account! YAY! So I've been marking things with the tag ReadMe and then going back to change that to RecMe (are you guys interested in this? I know I have librarians on this list, and so, I *organize* and assume you care.) Right, so you are so more than welcome to peruse the del.icio.us account (me=minxy) but be aware that it's a hold-all place for things I intend to read, and are not necessarily recommendations. There is a link in my sidebar now, though, because it's working pretty well for me.

Also, I would just like to say that despite the subject line, I am *so into* Mary J. Blige and Amy Winehouse at the moment. I believe I can blame my flist for pointing me to Amy Winehouse.

But yes! RECS! There are 10 in my RecMe tag! Because that's what I do, and I have a sneaking suspicion that while I'm technically writing and stuff, the fact that my mostest trustedest betas are having wonky health and head issues means... you may or may not see those for a while. And if you do see them? It might just be smoke and mirrors for the fact that I'm all distracted by the imminent move.

But, recs:

[livejournal.com profile] synecdochic writes my very favorite versions of Cameron and Sam ever: in the long slow friendship with amazing benefits, where Sam is adopted into Cam's family since forever and he wants to take care of her and is the only, ONLY one she doesn't hold at a distance... this is Cam dropping by like the old friend he is, to find Sam in the recovery aftermath of a mission she absolutely can't tell him anything about, and it's so heartbreakingly Everything It Should Be. Comfort(able), Sam/Cameron, ca: S1? R rated.

[livejournal.com profile] princess_bunny wrote a cracky, hilarious John/Rodney that is marvelously funny and flamingly gay. Reminded me a little of Dr. Jackson's Diary in the 'really not your canon characters, but we love their queeny ways anyway' way. And also, you just have to overlook how clearly *nothing ever gets done* in Atlantis, but people are fine with it. Glitter and Lube. NC-17, cracky.

For your genderswitch reading needs (there were a remarkable number of remarkable genderswitch stories lately,) I suggest you begin with [livejournal.com profile] spike21's Teyla: Maybe Oracle, gen, genderswitch. Really interesting contrast in losses and gains and a remarkable Teyla voice. (Also, if you read the next fic, her reaction is so interesting compared with John's.)

Chase that with John and Rodney, in a series of changes that takes them so far into each other that heterosexual identification becomes so very irrelevant and limited. Remarkable femslash, but it's the journey towards wanting each other that made the story for me. Always Should Be Someone You Really Love (links to part 2, this series is complete), NC-17, John/Rodney, genderswitch and discussions of het, slash, femslash and use of toys. It runs the gamut, really well. From [livejournal.com profile] thingswithwings. Also, Ronon and Teyla are distinct presences.

from [livejournal.com profile] princessofg, a Rising tag for Jack and Daniel, a first time and a happy: Evenings of Barbeque, Evenings of Chess. It's PG, Jack/Daniel, but a marvelous baby-steps/talking/just-so-we're-clear way to approach changing a friendship.

This is (sadly) a WIP, which I didn't know before I started reading, but I need to rec it anyway, even as a place holder. It is marvelous writing and extraordinary Daniel voice, complete with philosophical asides, pettiness, liguistics, and random lateral jumps in thinking. The Continuation of Life (Not Quite San Souci). Crossover with SGA, slash, from [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon. She promises to finish soon, so I'll rerec (OMG wips kill me.)

While we're on crossovers, this is John on Earth, not quite sure why he's accepted an invitation to road-trip with SG-1. Loved minervacat's deft understanding (and clear love) of basketball, how John and Cameron bond so easily over the game, and how it becomes a platform for seeing how many other ways they can connect. Multileveled growing connection is seven levels of awesome: [livejournal.com profile] minervacat's Steal The Thunder From The Sky, John/Cameron, NC-17, SG-1 with John Sheppard.

Lessee, what else I got? (I'm loving the timing of starting this whole del.icio.us rediscovery thing just when my comment notifications are on the fritz).

Oh, a series tag from [livejournal.com profile] niamaea, and one of those gen fics with a partnership *also*. This is Sam and Teal'c POV (the Teal'c is particularly lovely) as the team is given a chance to live and die quietly, no fanfare. Cameron/Sam in there, but it really is a nice little story about our heroes finding their own ways to live like normal people (or not, as the case may be). A Million Years Into the Sky, gen, Cam/Sam, PG, finalefic

Two S10 Jack ficlettes, one slash or Jack and Daniel friendship, and one pre- or post-het. The first is a drabble from [livejournal.com profile] teand: Half Crazy, PG and the second is a long, slow, gentle connection between people who loved and hurt each other once: Something Old, PG, Jack and Sara, in one of the most wonderful relationships our show ever gave us, from [livejournal.com profile] moonshayde.

For those of you who were involved in pimping me in to Supernatural, this section is for you (I can quit at any time I can quit at any time I can quit at any time I can quit at any time I can quit at any time.)

[livejournal.com profile] angstslashhope (in [livejournal.com profile] hopeful_fiction) wrote a fantastic Sam and Dean having a prank war related to laundry: socktacular socktacular. Gen, PG-13 or R (brothers fight dirty).

[livejournal.com profile] onelittlesleep wrote a lovely last trip before Sam went to school, and it's got great slightly-younger voices and topics and Dean learning about Sam in great ways. But I Never Could Sharpen No Blade, Quite the Way He Say. Gen, pre-series, PG.

And in conclusion, [livejournal.com profile] runpunkrun is writing oodles of wonderful happy John/Rodney this... month I think? I don't know why, I just know it's consistently happymaking and possibly too much to rec individually, so we shall just fangirl Punk in general. *fangirls*

SG-1 is my first love, just to be clear. Well, Star Trek was, actually, but I was never really fannish about Star Trek as I wasn't terribly aware of fandom at the time... I suppose SG-1 fandom is my first love, so we'll always have Paris... or something.

I'll be that social butterfly flitting between the third and fifth floors in the fabulous little red number. Yup.

You are so, so welcome. I am glad to see writing making you happy again.

Ha! I had the exact same fannish trajectory. I'll always think on Trek fondly, but SG-1 and I are in a comfortable long-term relationship now (and it doesn't mind if I look at other fandoms on occasion).
