Gonna be some changes made
Mar. 26th, 2007 11:58 amI was outside today doing plumbing work (outdoor) when I wasn't sorting out a problem with the bracing in the wall frames and covering up a little oops with a failure to sink the bolts properly into the concrete foundation (there really isn't a way to go back and fix that.) And that's after I sewed the other arm on my Mother's wing chair that she wants a slipcover for (*patterned*, God help me, again. She never makes it easy) and found half a dozen apartments I wouldn't mind living in from Craig's List in the New City.
So you may imagine why
But I was wrong, because I have this cheeky new browser! Yay! That is much more compatible with my del.icio.us account! YAY! So I've been marking things with the tag ReadMe and then going back to change that to RecMe (are you guys interested in this? I know I have librarians on this list, and so, I *organize* and assume you care.) Right, so you are so more than welcome to peruse the del.icio.us account (me=minxy) but be aware that it's a hold-all place for things I intend to read, and are not necessarily recommendations. There is a link in my sidebar now, though, because it's working pretty well for me.
Also, I would just like to say that despite the subject line, I am *so into* Mary J. Blige and Amy Winehouse at the moment. I believe I can blame my flist for pointing me to Amy Winehouse.
But yes! RECS! There are 10 in my RecMe tag! Because that's what I do, and I have a sneaking suspicion that while I'm technically writing and stuff, the fact that my mostest trustedest betas are having wonky health and head issues means... you may or may not see those for a while. And if you do see them? It might just be smoke and mirrors for the fact that I'm all distracted by the imminent move.
But, recs:
For your genderswitch reading needs (there were a remarkable number of remarkable genderswitch stories lately,) I suggest you begin with
Chase that with John and Rodney, in a series of changes that takes them so far into each other that heterosexual identification becomes so very irrelevant and limited. Remarkable femslash, but it's the journey towards wanting each other that made the story for me. Always Should Be Someone You Really Love (links to part 2, this series is complete), NC-17, John/Rodney, genderswitch and discussions of het, slash, femslash and use of toys. It runs the gamut, really well. From

This is (sadly) a WIP, which I didn't know before I started reading, but I need to rec it anyway, even as a place holder. It is marvelous writing and extraordinary Daniel voice, complete with philosophical asides, pettiness, liguistics, and random lateral jumps in thinking. The Continuation of Life (Not Quite San Souci). Crossover with SGA, slash, from
While we're on crossovers, this is John on Earth, not quite sure why he's accepted an invitation to road-trip with SG-1. Loved minervacat's deft understanding (and clear love) of basketball, how John and Cameron bond so easily over the game, and how it becomes a platform for seeing how many other ways they can connect. Multileveled growing connection is seven levels of awesome:
Lessee, what else I got? (I'm loving the timing of starting this whole del.icio.us rediscovery thing just when my comment notifications are on the fritz).
Oh, a series tag from
Two S10 Jack ficlettes, one slash or Jack and Daniel friendship, and one pre- or post-het. The first is a drabble from
For those of you who were involved in pimping me in to Supernatural, this section is for you (I can quit at any time I can quit at any time I can quit at any time I can quit at any time I can quit at any time.)
And in conclusion,

Date: 2007-03-26 08:50 pm (UTC)I should have a new apartment lined up by April 12th, and then we can pick a date for road trip, if you're up to it.
We'll need a really kick-ass soundtrack though, you realize that, right?

Date: 2007-03-26 08:58 pm (UTC)Hm. Apart from the obvious stuff from SPN, which I guess would be nice to hear, I'm kinda cheesy: REM is my poison of choice, and I like to listen to Avril Lavigne's "Mobile" when I'm, uh, mobile. That's two examples off the top of my head. But I'm open to all and any possibilities. Except maybe hip-hop.
What equipment will you have? Shall we need CDs? Tapes? MP3s? Separate audio device with speakers?
And guhh, I so hope I'll be up to it by mid-April. I really do.

Date: 2007-03-26 09:09 pm (UTC)I have very eclectic musical taste, even a little hip hop in my collection, but would you object to soul? R&B? Jazz? Blues? Bluegrass? Various and sundry alternative bands?
We could always call on the flists for assistance too.

Date: 2007-03-26 09:14 pm (UTC)I'm very much into the types of music you mentioned, because it's beautiful. And I guess it depends on the artist anyway, so we'll see.
How about mainstream? REM? U2?
Also, I must confess to a little hip-hop myself, in the form of a certain drop-dead gorgeous German singer (yes, GERMAN. WHAT?)
*is yay*
