.... and that concludes the foray into the Personal Life of Minxes. Except that I am *fascinated* with the possibility of buying my own place. One year of savings should have my forays around the world paid for and enough for a downpayment, maybe. It would be nice to not be renting, although, you know, California (the land of the half a million dollar condo.)

Today on the internets the last episode of Stargate will become available. Like [livejournal.com profile] barkley, I think this should be cause for celebrating all things Stargate. As is my wont, I will bring beer and recs:

[late-breaking ETA: Alert reader [livejournal.com profile] splash_the_cat drew my attention to this really marvelous Sam and Teal'c friendship piece that is just adorable. Lucky, lucky Sam. Enjoying the View from [livejournal.com profile] moonshayde, worksafe. I have no excuse for missing this. None. I have shame.]

[livejournal.com profile] surrealphantast wrote a screamingly amazing Sam/Jack vignette, where Sam's loneliness has the reality of fear and her movements and actions feel viceral and real. The connection with Jack is gentle and distanced and the silent company of people with empty houses. May, worksafe, PG.

On Jenn's rec, I also read a gen (there's a little canonical flirting) Daniel piece that is just so *Daniel* in his tenacious striving to understand, in the brilliant leaps and insights he has and keeps to himself, in his realizations that he is different, and his embracing his own strengths. Things Not Dreamed. Lovely, worksafe, by [livejournal.com profile] stargazercmc.

...Heeeeeeyyyyyyy, you know, I think I also found this because of Jenn. This is just going to be a very [livejournal.com profile] surrealphantast kind of post. [livejournal.com profile] abyssinia4077, who usually writes gen, takes a foray into het, both canonical and extrapolated, to give us some of the most heartbreaking insights into Daniel's relationships. Sha're and Sarah and Sam and, oh, Daniel. It's a short piece and it's got several punches in it. Cornerstone, S7-8, PG-13.

(Please to ignore this little foray out of the SG-1 recs, I'll get over it in a minute.)

Back in December, [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock posted an awesome SGA/Eureka crossover, and I can't remember if I talked about it at the time, but it's funny and in character and wonderful. Summer House, PG, worksafe. Because forget beaches and resorts, this is totally how Rodney would vacation.

For the other three people out there who remember Dark Angel's occasionally great qualities: A Max and Alec friendship-ish story, with skills and conniving and theft and flirting and sniping and one-handed back handsprings off the walls. Bill of Service, PG, worksafe from Sonya in last year's Yuletide.

(....and we're back!)

And for your Jack/Daniel fix for the day, a little playful early relationship for the bathrobe challenge from [livejournal.com profile] melayneseahawk, The Morning After, PG-13, worksafe.

The Sam/Daniel Ficathon is currently accepting signups, ladies and gentlemen, if you are looking for an outlet for your 'Celebrate Stargate's Last Episode Loudly' energy, may I suggest a little [livejournal.com profile] sd_ficathon? Or perhaps a jaunt over to [livejournal.com profile] sg1_ever_after to participate in the timed finale ficlette challenge?

ETA2: Celebrations commence thusly: @[livejournal.com profile] niamaea's audio/visual recs of joy and teamy goodness! and fic! Yay! Getting Closer, a beautiful pre-slash moment (Jack/Daniel, Lost City missing scene, worksafe).
[livejournal.com profile] nandamai posted a very funny S10 Sam/Jack with awkwardness! Bwhahahahaha! A Hostage Crisis. PG-13, worksafe.
[livejournal.com profile] tripoli8 is holding a wake of love.

*grabs you by the lapels and hyperventilates*

OMG I'm going to the most expensive town IN THE COUNTRY!!!! What am I thinking? (also, I'm in trouble if this is before I even accept the job, aren't I?)

But I think you're right about being treated well; ultimately, I think that's what the decision came down to.

::::grabs you in big big hug:::

you're going to have so much fun. and they better pay you more to compensate.

but it's the not very tangible benefits that really make me happy in a job. sounds like they're willing to offer that to you? {{{more hugs}}}}

It's wierd, but it came down to the fact that this guy calls when he says he's going to, he does what he promises and he's reliable. It's so weird that it comes down to common courtesy and good business, isn't it? You'd think I'd have learned that asshattery, ego, oversight and accidental mistakes are universal, but no, it surprises me.

I like the idea of someone who comes through. Yes. And I don't feel like I'm settling, I think this will really be a very good place to be.

not weird at all. and given the number of people out there who couldn't find common courtesy if i placed it somewhere close to them....well, it's important.

and the definition of success in this country is rather odd. people seem to take money over everything else and then wonder why htye're not happy in their work. ;)
