Teyla, by
irony_rocks, which features a subtle and wonderful sense of Teyla's humor. Five Things People Assume Teyla Does Not Understand, But She Does. Gen (some het attraction, but controlled), worksafe.
I love Teyla.
Ronon is cool too: The early POV as the team takes off on characteristic tangents in the middle of a conversation is really well done. Wanderer by
boochicken. Gen, worksafe.
For more Atlantis, I point you to thepouncers LJ, where there are many and less well-known fics recced. There's a Sheppard fascination, but multi-shipping interests (so, het and slash and gen recced). Enjoyed finding so many new stories.
Due to this 'ask me what happened before or after any story of mine' meme going around, I got to reread Snakeskin by
katie_m, which is one of the most fantastically wonderful and original fic out there. Jacob always breaks my heart with that one. Symbiote/host relationships, and the people they love. Worksafe.
Also reread
saffronhouse's Jack/Daniel ficathon '05 piece Red Sky at Morning, which is incredible emotions from two grown up men too wrapped up in each other to bear letting go. There is that very true sense that sometimes you can't just make it better just like that, and whatever you are feeling is just harsher, rougher or more. Amazing story.
Because I was there, I shall rec two crossovers that I've read bits of, but bookmark towards future more comprehensive reading:
saffronhouse has an Angel/Sentinal/SG-1 'verse fic that I read the last piece of, and it's really extraordinary. I barely know Jim and Blare and Angel and Cordelia and I was still totally invested in them. This bears further exploring, but it's a longer fic, so I'll bookmark the index here: Tatters, by Martha. The part I read was slash, but worksafe. This is a sequel, I believe, to the gen story Lovely.
vaznetti, who also posts about Rome and Alias, has a Firefly/Supernatural crossover that I'm told has marvelous Zoe in it (*with*, get this: John Winchester. Ai!) Blessings Against the Thunder, looks just marvelous, and one day, I'm going to start reading and you'll not hear from me again until I come out the other side.
eve11, bless her, wrote a two-comment fic to the challenge of a recent spam subject line in your inbox. Great banter, marvelous team, fun Sam. Yes. Homerun, people: Oak-crested Meter-ampere Gen, worksafe, very happy-making. Thank you, Eve.
There are some Rome fic from the archives too... Mostly Destina and Salieri so far, in a wonderous fic-trading adventure, but I am really not going to complain about fic from those guys. More to come later, Des has some recs I can go through.
troyswann: Dum Spiro, Spero (While I Breathe, I Hope) is Pullo/Vorenus post-Kalends of February. Worksafe, but dark, as the timing implies. Trademark evocative setting (Sal would graciously like you to realize that she totally called this scene actually happening in the season 2 opener. Thanks.)
For Destina: Hair of the Dog, post-Pharsalus (1.07). Stranded together and one of my favorite moments on a show ever.
There is also, from Sal for Des, Five Things Niobe Came to Understand About Pullo. #4, people. Come ON. (worksafe)
destina for
troyswann: The First Prayers of Man, also between S1 and 2, and dark, breaking heartachey loyalty. I love these two. Pullo/Vorenus, not worksafe, if memory serves.
And now, the bizarre genderswitch fic I've been reading lately, for reasons unclear to me. But there you go, it's a thing.
With Shifting Change by
ladycat777, in which half the SGA team stumbles into a machine that they oughtn't. Genderswapping, kid!fic (two different people) slash, John/Rodney. I'd give it an R rating. It really did entertain me, the interpersonal relationships were very interesting.
There's also
cofax7 &
vaznetti's Supernatural genderswap AU, in which it's not two brothers, it's a brother and a sister, which would have really changed things. Naturally, it's stunningly we'll written, but mostly little vingnettes at this point. I think they're surprised by it turning into a 'verse, but I really like the cute bartender one. SPN genderswitch part 5. They're gen, mostly, and no spoilers except for the premise of the show and general S1 stuff.
Finally, in your smuttly unity moment for the day:
raqs's moment on the edge of exhaustion, but together: Twilight Blue. Jack/Daniel, but worksafe.
Because the whole point of combing the Jack/Daniel archives was for raqs, and for fic that are not worksafe, I also give you: Silk by Mary Jane. Yes, she of Willemakee, who has tragically only written this one other SG-1 fic, as far as I can tell, but it's amazing too. Silk has light bondage, not for kink, but for anonymity, and to great effect. Jack/Daniel, NC-17.
Okay, that's good. I'm done.

Date: 2007-01-22 11:46 pm (UTC)Thank you for the feedback on Twilight Blue - that was prompted by this icon, which Sal made for me, because I was wanting one, as a balance to all her orange. (Because I love orange too. But, you know, to BALANCE.) you're so good to me.

(I'm good to you because I like you a LOT.) (You're lucky that you live to far away for me to show my affection with food.)

Date: 2007-02-04 01:48 am (UTC)Yeah, I think that may have been part of the problem, in the end. If I remember correctly, I was trying to draw some kind of parallel between her Jolinar-memories and her feelings for Jack, which... you know, I still think there could have been something there, but I couldn't make it work.
