Gratitude for a Tuesday
Nov. 14th, 2006 04:15 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I have been recc'd THREE TIMES in recent memory, for my WRITING, and not for reccing. This is amazing. And it's not even counting the self-pimping I did in the
girlgate comm (because the only femslash I've written is hidden in a poly fic)... But I digress, because I really am pleased as punch about this.
Two recs of the slash:
dirty_diana recc'd Stadium Seating on
crack_van (thank you, d*!)
rydra_wong recc'd The Eye is not Satisfied with Seeing on
stargateficrec (*smootches RW*)
and then
sg_fignewton also recc'd me on
stargateficrec, but for het this time, for One Half of the Equation, which is Sam/Daniel. So thank you too, that was one amazing rec.
Quirky and smutty and angsty, folks. Wow.
My stuff, stories and recs and all, is all linked from the sidebar in my layout. You can also find the stories in this post, and may I say that I'm just tickled when you do.
And man, am I curious to see whether this means more than two people will read the uber-rare pairing that I have in beta-land.
So to celebrate and pay it forward, I am participating in the Holiday Feedback-a-thon Meme (ganked from
ladycat777):
How to play -- Leave a comment to this post with a reliable link to a story you've written that you'd like me to read and leave feedback for. If you want con-crit or to ask if specific things worked, please specify, otherwise, this is a chance for you to point me to fic I may have missed, that you think I'll really like, or introduce me to your writing if I haven't seen it before.
You could then post this meme in your own LJ. If you think offering it up to anyone would be too much, you could offer it to just your flist or to a filtered section of your flist.
What I promise -- That I will read all fic and leave a minimum of a paragraph of feedback. Depending on how many people sign up, it might take me a while, though. At some point, if the list gets too big, I may call a halt to sign-ups. It's unlikely, though, as I really enjoy reading.
I will read ALMOST anything, but RPF, AUs of the more extreme kind, non-con and rape may require a backup story just in case I have to bail. Anything else goes: crossovers, kinks, NC-17, het/slash/gen, quirky, rare characters... all are welcome.
The fandoms --
Alias
Firefly
Harry Potter (prefer adults only pairings, kaythanx)
Stargate: Atlantis
Stargate SG-1
Farscape (please don't spoil me past 3.04)
Dr. Who (Nine, some Ten)
Stories I've read/commented on are okay to offer up. You may want more feedback then an "aww", or you want serious concrit, or something else I can't think of. So unless I've already written a paragraph of feedback (which, very occasionally, I do) feel free to request that story again.
There was another, funnier meme that I saw at
makesmewannadie's LJ, in which you look at the list of fandoms I know well, and think to yourself, 'self, how can she not know Due South/Torchwood/Andromeda/Angel/Buffy/some other fandom that I see on MMWD's list here???' and then ask me to describe it. I'll do it in the funniest way I can manage with the information I have, and then you can all laugh at my complete inability to focus on more than one or two fandoms at a time, or be in touch with American pop culture, scifi or otherwise.
I've seen very few episodes of the Simpsons, sue me. I do love the Daily Show, though.

Date: 2006-11-15 12:38 am (UTC)Lessee...okay, this is one of my favorites of my stories, and I have no idea if you ever read it or not. Predatory (http://frostfire.killerstar.net/stories/predatory.html), and if you want to read the (very short) precursor to it, My Soul From Out That Shadow (http://frostfire.killerstar.net/stories/shadow.html).
eeee! thank you thank you!

Date: 2006-11-15 04:52 am (UTC)And thanks, I've been meaning to read that, I swear, it's just... you need that little *push* for outsider's POV. That was awesome. You dun gud.
And, obviously, this is not the real feedback. That's at your LJ.

Feedback's always nice, but don't go crazy or anything : )

Thank you for the request, and the fic. I'm glad to have read that.

Date: 2006-11-15 01:46 am (UTC)I just recently friended you, and I don't think I said hi yet. So hi!
Here's a J/D SG-1 fic I wrote recently: The Nature of a Man (http://whimsicalwhims.livejournal.com/18910.html).
To be fair, since I'm just now popping in, is there a particular story that you'd like detailed feedback on?
Hi!
Date: 2006-11-16 04:04 am (UTC)Welcome, and if you want to read something Daniel-centric, I'd suggest the gen Like No One is Watching. Yup. We have Jack and Daniel, and some very slashy stuff, like One Day I'll Fly Away, but for pure Daniel, go for No One Watching.

I totally love that fandom meme. I think MMWD got it from Telesilla, whose version (http://telesilla.livejournal.com/498517.html?style=mine) is also hi-larious. You must do it!!
And iffen you are still up for reading/commenting, I'd love to see whatever you want to say about http://green-grrl.livejournal.com/31877.html

Date: 2006-11-15 04:15 am (UTC)I'm not above handing out a link for the feedback thingy, especially since your feedback is usually particularly good! However, I am embarrassed to ask anyone to read one of my hideously long sagas. SG-31 (http://brainofck.livejournal.com/78649.html) if you can read past the non-con. Or possibly Five Things that Never Happened to Daniel Jackson (and Jack O'Neill) (http://brainofck.livejournal.com/158081.html), if the non-con is a deal breaker.

I've certainly enjoyed many of your stories and it doesn't look like you need a beta, but if you ever do, just let me know.

Both are gen SG-1 of course (it's me! Hee hee. Though evil minx, I've spread out my palate to some of your awesome recs).

Date: 2006-11-15 11:24 am (UTC)And oooh, feedback-a-thon. That sounds like good fun. I'll offer up my Firefly story Tramping Out the Vintage Where the Grapes of Wrath are Stored (which, by the way, stands alone just fine, so it's not actually necessary to read the two parts of the series that precede it).
And I'll bite on the fandom-description meme, too. How about Buffy?

I have no idea who Cater is, and I have never actually seen Duet, to my shame, but I will also check out the Stages of Love entries. I'm starting to get really into Stages of Love in general. That is one awesome idea.

Date: 2006-11-20 07:46 am (UTC)I'm so glad you told me you'd written something while I was gone. I'd have imploded if it'd taken me six months or something to realize it.
I adore your crossovers. Dunno if I've ever explicitly said so, but just the fact that you have a handle on the best aspects of characters from two different shows is awesome, that you then blend them believably and compellingly into great plotty adventures is brilliant. Plus I love Sam and Rodney. LOVE.

The Cam fics were lovely, thank you for those.

And when you do, tell me a story of yours, and I'll pay you back.
