Three recs for your weekend.

You know how sometimes beta-ing is referred to as 'work'? Turns out, if you beta for someone you also fangrrl, it becomes really not so much work like at all. I mean, it's like going through your favorite stories and picking out the really sexy parts that you'd like to go on a little longer. There is no bad here.
surrealphantast brought the threesome in a nice, long, plotty fic with marvelous dirt metaphors. Seriously, what I think makes the best poly fics great is when each pairing within the relationship has well defined and unique emotions about each other, and she did that so well here, from Mitchell, who carries a lot of the narrative, to Sam and Daniel who have history so deep there aren't words for it. The movement builds until things just start spiraling of their own accord, and it's just a great ride. Caveat lector (read: squee), I beta'd for this story, so it's possible that I'm not as objective as I might otherwise be, but long, plotty, sexy, yum. Against All Enemies, Cameron/Sam/Daniel and all pairings therein, NC-17, two parts, completed (second part linked from the first).
Also featuring Sam, and one of my very favorite people ever for Sam to hang out with, Teyla, is a little fic from
ladyjax called Foreign Exchange I: Diplomatic Relations, which is a stand alone first of five (room)
stagesoflove fics. It's friendship here, though, admiration and sympathy for what must be an overwhelming first visit to Earth for Teyla. Excellent character voices for this short little piece. G, worksafe.
Lastly, a genuine femslash rec, and this thanks to
girlgate comm (currently running a friending post--go see!), which sent me to the
femslash06 challenges. This is Kate/Teyla (one of my very favorite femslash pairings! I get the girl! Go me!) from
sathinks called Serendipity, and its just a marvelous PWP setup as only Atlantis can provide. NC-17.
I also feel the need to tell you all that I updated most of my recs lists last night, and it took a Very Long Time. So mosey over to the sidebar, whydoncha and take a look through the recs lists at the bottom so that I can feel like it was worth it. And should you spot a glaring absence, or realize that I have actually recc'd fic that I haven't moved to those lists yet, give a girl a holla. And drop a link if you feel like it, I could always use a good fanfic link. Yes.

Date: 2006-11-11 01:37 pm (UTC)the sg-1 fandom is so huge and rich. i've been devouring everything i can find since, oh, february, i guess, and i'm still finding new stuff all the time.

Date: 2006-11-12 06:51 pm (UTC)And I forgot to hit save on at least one. *face/palm* It needed to be done, but somehow I was incredibly slapdash about it this time.
Anyway, found a few I missed off both lists, will be glancing through again to see if there are any more.
My shiny letters and I are job searching now, with a lazy eye towards some cities on the West Coast, and enjoying being unemployed. I'd rather have the back pay that I expected coming in, but I'm happy to still do all the traveling I like with the view of paying off my credit cards later sometime. I'll make that bargain. My family, after a recent health scare, is doing well, and I'm more relaxed than I've been in years... life is good.
