Off on the first round of traveling, forsooth! Actually, it's just to go camping with a fabulous girlfriend down in Cali to unwind (though I feel pretty darned unwound, especially after the vaccination doctor's visit that left me with five bandaids and two 'scrips. Who knew LA was so dangerous?) Any minute now, I'm going to pack up the rest of my bag so I'm ready to go. Aaaaaany minute.

ann_i_blessing wrote a nice Sam gen piece accidentally coinciding with the samficathon fic being released (which I shall likely get to chatting up next week). This, though, is Sam talking to one of her father's best friends, who is also her boss. Gen. Speaking True. First fic in the fandom, go feed the author.

Cameron/Vala, of a sort (PG rated) from daisycm83: Not Scene, in which Teal'c is also very much awesome.

Any threesome fic, even an AU, that begins with 'Sometimes, when Jack was in a wierd mood...' has got to be good. kellifer_fic's Three Sided Square, Jack/Sam/Daniel AU, PG rated.

liviapenn gives us One Thing Ronon's Tattoo Doesn't Mean, which required me to look at the whole 'Ronon backstory' thing in a whole new light, lemme tell you. G, gen.

From 2004, three stories:
tripoli8's Jack/Daniel if they really could take each other's hurts for them, and how it would rip them apart. AU, of a sort*. On the Mortal Side, NC-17, and language!kink, but none of that really conveys how beautifully sad all their intentions are.

Brighid (brighidestone)'s Syntactical, NC-17, comfortable old married love from S8. Jack/Daniel, knock you out linguisty stuff, and cookies.

sori1773's The Company You Keep. Jack & Daniel, and a lovely moment of understanding, when Daniel does something Jack has always done but couldn't explain. When Daniel brings his mind to writing to Jack, and what he would say, and why, and what comes of it. Beautiful. NC-17, and Jack/Daniel, but it takes second seat to the friendship.

First person Jack, with great voice, and it's not just any Jack, either, it's pissy!Jack at the end of a long day dealing with stubborn!Daniel and his head is a marvelous place to be. Found Out About You, NC-17 from byrne.

And, enough with the archives! New fic, by a new author: ballroomblitz wrote Season 1 (!) Jack, with Sam and Daniel and Kowalski, with all those early relationships just spot on. Gen. Dreaming and the Geneva Convention. Feeeeeed the new author.

ETA: Very special late-breaking announcement: synecdochic has just posted the gorgeous These Are the Things I Will Save for You, about the scattering of SG-1 to the corners of the universe and the country, about how much they gave up for each other and to each other. About alienation and culture shock, about trying so hard to say the things that need to be said and not being heard. Beautiful, beautiful story. OT3, with notable, wonderful Teal'c also, rate an R.


*For the record, I'm not really an AU kind of reader, so when I say 'AU of a sort', what I mean is 'in the retelling of canon events with significant twists' sense, rather then the 'hey, they're rabbit farmers!' sense. Just so you know. It's like the levels of NC-17 thing. Some fic are just a little bit NC-17, and some are NC-17 squared, right? Like that.
