Seriously! I read fanfic, I went running, I worked out, I talked to friends, I went to a movie... all in the last 24 hours, and I have done that kind of thing in... a while. I might even take tomorrow off too. I hear people take Sundays off sometimes.

Anyway, brilliance goes on apace.

[livejournal.com profile] seperis called for DVD commentary, but issued the challenge that you comment on other people's stuff and all kinds of authors offered up their fanfic in general for the best kind of detailed feedback. They created a comm ([livejournal.com profile] dvd_commentary) and have a list of stories claimed, claimed pending author approval (if needed), and commentaries written. Isn't that cool?

Did you look at the list? Did you see that there are NO SG-1 STORIES THERE? This is a travesty, people. If I take tomorrow off I may write one, but here's the thing: I'm tired, so you should write one in case I don't. All my stuff is totally open (make free with the concrit, too, doesn't have to be flattery), even the ones I've commentaried on myself, if you really want. Stories here or in the sidebar. I think [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong, [livejournal.com profile] cofax7, [livejournal.com profile] frostfire_17, [livejournal.com profile] wisdomeagle, [livejournal.com profile] astolat, and [livejournal.com profile] sdraevn, and I'm sure others (check here or ask) have also opened up their stories, so DUDES!

ETA: and [livejournal.com profile] destina, and [livejournal.com profile] merryish, and possibly M ([livejournal.com profile] samdonne). And [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic and [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl and [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt.

Fanfic besides:

[livejournal.com profile] sffan wrote Rodney/Vala from the Pegasus Project missing scene, PG-13 and so wonderful in a very cuddly way.

This was cute: Five Ways John Sheppard Accidentally Outed Himself by [livejournal.com profile] kueble.

[livejournal.com profile] janedavitt posted Holding Pattern from the Eclipsed 'verse. I must say that this had great themes and I love that the emotions involved really colored Paul's perceptions of what was happening. Also love that for a WIP, Jane really makes these stories stand alone, so I don't get that 'aaargh! WIP!' frustration. Little cliff's notes background if you've lost track of which way's up. I think these are all NC-17, Jack/Paul Davis.

Shunda ([livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie) wrote a Farscape ficlet post the mini, with marvelous sneakiness and day to day stuff. Grand. G rated. Sharing the Wealth.

And then there's [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic, who asked me to pick a story for her to write next and then went and wrote this instead, and oh goodness, it's amazing. Layers of psychology and complexity and respect between all of them and individual relationships. I love, in poly fics, when there are clearly different relationships between the people involved, and that it's okay when they aren't precisely equal in some ways, because it can be balance out in others. Amazing complexity here: Like Water, Lying. Cameron, Jack, Daniel; poly and BDSM and wow, headspace. NC-17.

I volunteered up my SG-1 stories, but I feel badly because I don't have time to write a commentary. I'd be kind of shocked if anyone did one on one of my stories, but overall I'm bummed that no SG-1 stories at all have been claimed. *sad*

I'll add you to my list of love. Do you want to pick a story of yours and I'll look into commenting tomorrow? I haven't a lot of time either, but I participate just to get an SG-1 story out there.

Lovely girl, I think you just flat do not have time to play. Don't make yourself crazy! Somebody is bound to pick an SG-1 story eventually. Jane Davitt and Merry offered theirs up, too, aside from the others you've noted, and so something will appeal to *someone*. I have faith. :)

Well, (heh) actually they aren't due until way after the dissertation. I think the challenge is open through September or something like that. My brain might recover by then.

Merry too? And samdonne, I think I remember.

You're a bloody genius for directing me to the Vala/Rodney. How did you know I WANTED that? That was a perfect fic.

And the [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic stories - I'm going to read them and snuggle them and God, I love stories about Cam.

And you're coming to NYC???!!! Whatever I'm doing I'm cancelling and we're doing lunch. Yay!

Heh! I get so much credit for doing so little; I tell you, it's a fabulous gig.

YAY! I get to do lunch in the ciiiiiity! I promise to pack something that's not safari gear. Whee!

My stories are available, too. And I'm considering doing commentary, just not commiting yet. SG1 of course!

I totally hope someone commentaries my SG-1 stuff, because in an odd kind of way I love more of what I've written in SG-1 than in SGA. But alas, I do not have the time right now to commit to doing a commentary of my own. Maybe I'll pick something short, heh.

(And thank you for the rec!)

I saw someone nabbed Freedom, but I think seperis even said that while the universally beloved ones are great (and seriously, great) it'd be nice to see less well known fic be acknowledged too. I'd love to see one of your SG-1's get commentated.

One more thing for the long list of stuffs I'd like to do after the diss maybe (I have a feeling I might sleep for a week after the diss. This weekend I'm just crashing like nobody's business and I'm not even really done yet.)

Short commentaries are still commentaries. Perfectly acceptible. *nods*

It's having the side effect of making me sleeep like a rock. Slept 11 hours last night. Didn't think that was possible any more. Wow. *yawns*

Ah, but not done, you see? Must defend the thesis, which requires a full hour presentation with slides, and 2-3 hours verbal defense before the committee. So I should be making the presentation and reading up on background so I'm all prepared and stuff.

But tomorrow. Today my little brother showed up and we sanded and varnished two more chairs for his dining set. His apartment is sorting itself out apace. Also? He's suddenly obsessed with baking bread and I found him some of my favorite recipes and leant him a cookbook. Lil Bro, growing up and doing adult things like fixing up furniture and making his own food. Aaaaawwwww..... *pats 27 year old brudda*

still good to take a break and give yourself credit for what you've done so far. *hugs*

and perhaps your brother might cook for you while you're doing the next stage of the process? :)

I'm up for that commentary challenge too; any and all of my fics.

And thanks for the Eclipsed mention! I'm going to start on the final part right away as I'm in a Paul-loving mood right now and want to get him and Jack sorted out :-)

OOoooh! That's so exciting! I hope there's a happy ending even though they're both being schmucks a little bit. *hopes*

Happy endings are my default, so probably, but not a perfect, wrapped-up, bow on top happiness, because that's just not going to be on the cards, poor babies.

I'd settle for them getting through an encounter without verbal bloodshed by this point :-)

I think that is a happy ending by their definition. Heck, that might be miraculous by their definition. Just the admission that they are unable to fantasize about anyone else now, thank you very much, is darned near a statement of committment.

Stoopid boys. Not good with feelings and vulnerability and all that. *pets them*

What can I say? Men!

Although, thanks to a discussion with [livejournal.com profile] princessofg I want to write a one-off post-fic fic with Daniel in the mix if I can make it work, just because the group dynamics are so fascinating in a train-wreck way, that it'd be... well. Interesting :-)

*fangrrls angsty sex*

Actually, I was writing the Teal'c and Cam, Courting fic, and they were being all sweet and charming to each other and then out of the blue got all serious and angsty on me. Didn't they know that was a date? Fluff is hard, man. Fluff is HARD. I'm extra impressed with you that you got your characters to behave and stay sweet and fluffy.
