I have a general pointer to the kink & cliche multifandom ficathon going on (there is very little SG-1 so far. Woe!) in which I read a fantastic 'heat, with short tempers' fic from thegrrrl2002: Meltdown, John/Rodney, NC-17, and 'anonymous, sex in the dark' from z_rayne: No Anarchy in the Universe, SGA NC-17.

Also getting it's very own pointer line: The Tipping Point, SGA, NC-17, John/Rodney, possessiveness and power play, extremely well done, with balance and strength and complex psychology and character. Amazing. By alizarin_nyc for the kink challenge. (Thanks to raqs for the pointer.)

and the mmom community, dedicated to multifandom masturbashun for the month of May. Lots of grand, grand little fics there, but a Teal'c/Sam stood out for me: Tent Walls Part 2 from geonncannon (NC-17) also ozsaur's special hell OT4: That is the Question (SGA, NC-17) and Good Vibrations (Teyla, gen, teen) Lots of great little bits of smut on a daily basis over there, ranging from funny to hot, cracked to character studies. delph will please note that there is at least one M7 fic there from docmichelle, other fandoms I noticed were Alias, CSI, Firefly, HP, Stargates, Flintstones, Peeps... apparently anything goes over there.

ETA: also, hey! The Atlantis Back to Basics Challenge Master List! Gen, het, slash, poly, all represented. Many choices, easy payments.

ivorygates wrote a really interesting House/SG-1 slash crossover, in which Daniel in his messed up glory, meets House at a conference, and they have this fantastics, screwed up kind of interaction. Hotel Sex, NC-17, House/SG-1, House/Daniel.

jenlev committed silliness: Life-Sized for the Dough-Boy. I am without words. SG-1, gen.

only_fell wrote a beautiful bit of backstory for Inara: Miyako Odori. Brings into beautiful context the statement of the pilot that so few men are mysterious. Firefly, pre-series, no spoilers, Inara, PG rated.

mamadebfic wrote an impressive little h/c fic for John and Rodney in a pre-slash sort of way that's haunting: Some Far-off Touch, PG-13.

And I think... I think that's all I got, unless you want to talk about the other two books in the Steerswoman's Series by Rosemary Kirstein, because they were interesting, and I loved the sort of theme that Will and Rowan are walking lines between two different honor systems, and that Bel is uncomfortable with that kind of compromise.

For some reason, though, I wasn't expecting such an episodic feel to those books, like they were an ongoing television show: sure, you wrap up that storyline, and the characters are changing, but it doesn't necessarily feel like they're going to wrap things up anytime soon. More of a constant 'to be continued...' which isn't bad, per se, but I'm not the biggest fan of WIPs. I like to read it all at once.

Also, Alias was cracked last week, and I think they've played out the 'doubled' storyline ad nauseum, but I guess now Syd goes double agent again, which was certainly fun the first time around, we get to see all our favorite guest stars although they've now officially killed off Gina Torres (unless they've combined 'back from the dead' technology with state of the art 'undoubling' technology, which I doubt) which makes me sad. And what's with the lack of photo for Vaughn? No moment about the baby? No angst about the separation? What UP? The last few episodes have felt like place markers while they set up something, and I'm willing to go with that, but I'm ready for the ball to start rolling now.

And, I still haven't seen last weeks Dr. Who, and it was the 'Are you my mummy?' resolution, so I should watch that sometime.

ETA: Oh, hello... Sam and Daniel sparring, with Teal'c teasing and the physical and the sexy and the dirty all coming to the mat. Fighting as foreplay, ladies and gents, and all of them very nicely in character. Sparring, by psychofilly, Sam/Daniel(/Teal'c), PG-13 from an icon prompt.

ETA2: mmmchelle wrote some gentle, welcoming, healing, funny femslash, and I loved it and feel like it was just for me. No seriously, any of the rest of you read your given name in a fic and felt like, omg I'm sleeping with Teyla? Because wow, go me! I am teh awesome! Kate/Teyla, NC-17, SGA, Not Almost. It really did feel like a sexy hug of a fic.

ETA3: thassalia has written an amazing 5 things fic, in keeping with May being masturbation month, that is incredibly in character and lonely and heartbreaking in 5 fully different ways. But hot. I have no idea how she did that. SG-1, S9, NC-17. Her sensory detail is incredible.

I really must love Nine. He is so marvelous. The phrase 'human DNA is being rewritten by an idiot' is really entertaining to me. I could just meander over to the T.V. now and watch it, but I usually wait for my Dad, and he's been waiting for me, so... probably should wait for Dad.

Loved the alizarin fic you pointed to in your LJ. Have now added it to the post (it's a WIP until the day's end, I feel).

i'm glad you told me that you added alizarin's story, because I was feeling like i was going slightly mad, there, seeing it your post after i'd already READ your post and was SURE i hadn't seen alizarin's story in it - which is why i recced it, among other reasons, because there's certainly no point in me reccing something if you've already done it; i think your readership is wider than mine by far.

*snork* sorry about that. Would've gone at the end with the other ETAs but it was relevant to the kink challenge... and at some point eta's all over the place starts to get silly. If I were slightly more together about it, there would be less editing after the fact, but lately it's miraculous if I pull something together at all (real life, you understand: not helpful enough committee, neglectful, sabotaging advisor, omg-I'm-never-going-to-finish angst... yadda)

But now I'm distracted by your Nine and Rose icon. I really like Rose too, but Nine in that icon is scruffy. Mmmmmm.....

they wrote me that they're not sure what's happening....and to let them know exactly where i was in LJ-land the next time it happened. good thing i wrote down my customization on a trusty 5 x 7 card. i'm getting so good at changing the layout back...it takes minutes. and i don't mutter quite so much about it. heh.

In M7, Nathan calls himself a 'healer' and is the closest thing to a doctor they have in their frontier town. He's also black so he wouldn't have even been allowed to study to be a real doctor. In my fic, he's been working with a new doctor in town...a lady doctor, also a rarity in that time period. I'm sorry, all you get is a shingle and mention...no real action but you're important as you represent the realization of Nathan's dreams. And no, I didn't call ya Dr. Hoochimama altho it really has a ring to it. :oD You could wander over to my LJ to read "Coming Home". It's about 2 or 3 posts back.

He played the warrior who was actually a traitor in an SG1 ep and T had to seriously kick his ass. :o) But he's sweet as Nathan and serves as moral conscience for the 7. Alas it cannot do anything to sort out your RL woes, but it will make you feel happier for a short while. You'll fall hopelessly in love with Captain Jack, the Doctor (if you haven't already). You'll see the Doctor dance (which is a thing of beauty) and it will restore your faith and put a honkin' great smile on your face.

Dr. Who is becoming a whole family affair. I don't really watch West Wing and my parents don't really watch Farscape so it comes down to the Daily Show (which I only watch sometimes, it's a politics thing) and Dr. Who.

So we all watched it last night and the opening 'Go to your room!' line? MARVELOUS. 'Those would have been terrible last words.' HAR!

What I like about Captain Jack is that he's flawed, and that his wooing of absolutely everything that moves is somewhat ham handed (and vaguely a con), but that works for Rose because she's so young. It follows that Nine's really marvelous response to him is then part disbelief, part competition, part playfulness and part protectiveness. His flaws, and Rose's, allow for some marvelously layered moments. I love characters with flaws. Also love the Dr.'s response any time someone says 'I didn't know!' because obviously? Not good enough. And also obviously? He's been there himself.

Were you the one that had Captain Jack's 'last time I was going to die I ordered x number of drinks and woke up with my executioners?' speech as your signature in your email? Loved it at the time, and I love it even more now.

Yep - that was me! I just fell in love with the quote first time I heard it. And to think that this was aired at about 7:30pm on a Saturday night - prime time viewing. Heee!

So glad to hear that you can share it with your parents. That's the whole idea behind it. It's a show that is modern but it can be shared with the entire family. Despite what the focus groups said before it began.

I see Jack flirting as a way to get to know people. It's in his nature to flirt with everyone (and he does!) he means no ill will by it. He flirts with everyone, as you'll soon see. Unless you're a Time Agent - then he really does mean ill by it. He wants those two years back damnit. I'm hoping that the 'Torchwood' spin off will shed more light on everyone's favourite 51st Century omnisexual.
