[sincere announcer voice] The week of posting the [livejournal.com profile] tealc_ficathon entries progresses, and we find ourselves amidst a wonderful concerted effort to create some of the most fantastic Teal'c fanfic evar. Or at the very least substantially increase the amount of Teal'c centered fic in fandom, because it needs it. [/announcer voice, because it's making my throat sore]

I present you, in something like the order they were posted, the Teal'c Ficathon fanfiction:

Easy There, Steady Now by [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong for [livejournal.com profile] deani_bean, which I am not rational about because I beta'd it, but I do think it's an extraordinary example of intimacy and comfort in so many ways suited to the characters, and by the way, plot. Teal'c/Cameron, PG-13-ish, S9. It's also at her LJ.

Reciprocity by [livejournal.com profile] jalabert for [livejournal.com profile] kernezelda, tag for Arthur's Mantle in which Cameron gets chewed out by a few too many people for cutting and running so Teal'c has to seek him out to thank him for same in spectacular Teal'c style. pre-slash, PG, S9.

Up For It by [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt for [livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie, Cam and Teal'c and Vala and sexy and funny and everybody on their game--the interaction is fantastic. One of my favs. PG-13ish, S9, pre-slash.

Without Complaining by [livejournal.com profile] ana_grrl for [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong. I enjoyed this one immensely: Sam and Daniel off being geeky together and Cam and Teal'c left to deal with their own boredom; Cameron's inability to be still is very well rendered. PG-13, S9.

Found in the Translation by [livejournal.com profile] lovellama for [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt, Teal'c and Daniel interaction, interestingly. First person Teal'c POV gets props from me, because that's gutsy, and I love the environment of a Goa'uld library, Daniel calling on Teal'c to translate. Pre-slash, PG, S5ish?

(heh, I did not make up the titles or the order) Lost in Translation by [livejournal.com profile] deani_bean for [livejournal.com profile] psychofilly. Team mud sliding = great image, I can totally understand how a fic could grow from that. First NC-17 rating, Cam/Teal'c, S9.

Homecoming by [livejournal.com profile] fairyglass for [livejournal.com profile] dustandroses. I love Teal'c's thoughts on Jaffa and curiousity, and why he needs to stand with SG-1, stay with the Taur'i. Nice building awareness between Cameron and Teal'c both from canon moments and extrapolated; a classic romance with really nice insights. Cam/Teal'c, S9, rated R.

Perchance to Dream by ME! for [livejournal.com profile] calantha42. What should you know about this brilliant fic of mine that will convince you to read it if you haven't already? I have no idea. It's Teal'c and Sam, being friends in their own quirky way. You'll have to ask someone else if you want an objective opinion, but I like the idea of similar epiphanies taken in different directions, and a unique kind of intimacy with another person that doesn't fit any preconceived notions. PG-13ish, gen, S6/7.

Transitions by [livejournal.com profile] psychofilly for [livejournal.com profile] fairyglass. Picks up at the S9 cliffhanger and veers off, unique interactions with Jack and Cam, but this is a story about Teal'c and Sam, about his enabling her work, and enjoying who she is as a highlight of a time that could and might and probably will see a great deal of loss. The sense of fighting a battle against really bad odds reminds me of the early seasons, almost. pre-ship, PG-13ish. S9+.

Jaffa and Son by [livejournal.com profile] hsapiens for [livejournal.com profile] wyrdmuse, a sweet interaction with Rya'c off world, all the auntie and uncles on SG-1 unwittingly making Teal'c's job harder. Gen, G rated.

Restitution for [livejournal.com profile] leviathanmuse by [livejournal.com profile] graculus. Fascinating exploration of the subtleties of Teal'c and Daniel, pulling no punches about Sha're and earning an NC-17 rating ultimately. Some cool ideas there, particularly the use of alien customs and the subtlety of whether they are common or rooted in history, as a way for Daniel and Teal'c to communicate; nice complex psychology, and Bra'tac is always awesome. Slash.

Under the Weather by [livejournal.com profile] kernezelda for [livejournal.com profile] ana_grrl. Cam and Teal'c having a moment on common ground. Fits really nicely into my 'Cam and Teal'c are so dating' obsession. G, gen.

Vanquishing Demons by [livejournal.com profile] aurora_novarum for [livejournal.com profile] lovellama. Longer fic luxuriously allowing Teal'c's pacing and thoughts to come through, particularly after a crisis of faith that went largely unacknowledged in the early seasons. Team dynamic, as well as the notion of how exactly one would comfort Teal'c are very well done. Also? Bra'tac. And Rak'nor, who is my Stargate boyfriend. Gen, PG-13, S4. Part II, part III.

Molasses, by [livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie (Shunda) for [livejournal.com profile] jalabert. Cam and Teal'c, isolated and seeking each other and surviving mind games and being stripped down to their core beings; plus as the tension ramps and you get worried, you by the way also get the plot and the story, but the intensity is great enough that you do not care until you get confirmation that everyone's okay. Awesome. Gen, G, S9.

Deferred Pleasures by [livejournal.com profile] leviathanmuse for [livejournal.com profile] anhksign. Teal'c/Daniel in an established relationship. Really nice details of tracking and MREs, survival techniques (I do love the one where someone gets chilled by a dunk in a river and needs to get naked to warm up. Love that.) Nice action writing, and notable description of Daniel's skin from Teal'c first person POV that stuck with me.

Leaving Childhood by [livejournal.com profile] katie_m for [livejournal.com profile] paian. Wonderful complexity in Teal'c's interactions with Ishta and Rya'c and Kar'yn, extraordinarily well crafted characters for all of them, fascinating subjects, fascinating reactions. It's amazing. S8/9, het, G-rated.

Speak the Living by [livejournal.com profile] paian for [livejournal.com profile] hsapiens. Gorgeous and heartbreaking traditions, both new and old, Teal'c adapting and coming to terms with his past and present and future, with loss and betrayal and orders and the price of freedom and the weight of surviving. Elegant friendships with Sam and others, incredible backstory and missing scenes from Heroes make the canon moments even more heartbreaking and meaningful. Wonderous. Gen, PG, spoilers for S7 through Heroes, some foreshadowing of canon Jaffa culture mentioned in later seasons, but not plot or character related.

A New Path by [livejournal.com profile] ankhsign for [livejournal.com profile] furor_scribiend. Teal'c/Daniel, S9, PG-13. I actually loved the dry wit of this, despite it's feeling a bit off from the general fanon that Teal'c would think as he speaks in formal language, I loved the idea that this soundtrack was constantly running in Teal'c's head behind the straightfaced delivery of pitch perfect Teal'c dialog. Great Teal'c humor piece, subtle and clear all at the same time. Reminded me of Dr. Jackson's Diary a bit, that kind of liberty with the subject used to very funny effect. I laughed loudly.

Great ficathon. Thank you, guys, and [livejournal.com profile] moonshayde for getting the ball rolling.

All this lovely Teal'c fic just makes me want to post mine - maybe I could change one of the names to protect the not-so-innocent? *eg*

Why would you need to change a name? More tealcfic=good.

*is curious now*

Um, because it features a real person? Or the on-line persona thereof? *wink*

I did a 'find and replace' on it, substituting "Bobby". It's hawt even without the inside joke. *contemplates*

Well, you technically have an OMC there, so make sure you give your readers a reason to care about this person, and aren't relying on our amusement at seeing our friend mary-sued into a fic. *g* Although that will work for at least a few of us.

And by the time it turns into a fourgy, everybody should pretty much be on board. *eg*

I think you-know-who missed the last hint I dropped, so I'll have to pin him down (so to speak), because the story is so much better as originally written!

Please, please, please let me watch. *eg*

I did a RPS on him and just was too squicked by my own gall to finish it. *shivers*
