fanfic recs
Mar. 26th, 2006 10:27 amBesides the fic that I posted (what? You thought I had shame? I have nooooo shame. I will pimp myself, why not?) for Taselby, and that girl got herself some really nice p0rn in general after a bad turn a week or two ago, there have been some other great stories posted of late.
Besides mine, obviously, which is the bestest. I only mention that because
remixredux stories are being posted tonight and I'm in there too, so then there will be a new best. See? Important to sort this stuff out.
ETA: OH. They're posted. 350-some remixed stories in many, many fandoms. So. Much. Goodness. *thud*
brighidestone posted Parenting in the Pegasus Galaxy, a continuation of
astolat's A Beautiful Lifetime Event story and universe, and it's a marvelous family portrait, with two guys pawning off the ickier parenting responsibilities when they can and dealing when the kids come to them with problems no one expected. Marvelous. And for the record, I was like that as a 4-5 year old. It was fun fielding questions from me about what a tampon was after yet another commercial where girls danced and cartwheeled across the screen, I'm sure. FUN.
mmmchelle and
thegrrl2002 wrote some John/Rodney/ZPM p0rn too, called A Many-Splendored Thing.
rivier is holding a posting about guilty pleasures fic, in which you anonymously post the fic that has something horribly wrong happening (bad writing, bad characterization, bad coincidences, bad subjects...) but YOU READ IT ANYWAY, over and over and over. Your crack!fic, the one you can't explain but that you love. Go post your favorite and then read other peoples and laugh or fall into the wonder that is crack!fic.
Speaking of,
ana_grrl has some self-appointed crack!fic that is really a marvelous romp: One Must Change If One is to Grow. Cam/Teal'c... and you just have to read it. It's G-rated, or PG.
And, hrm, where to put the apocafic in this list? I think here, with the inexplicable and the gorgeous. There Are No Gods In Pegasus by
niannah is beautiful, but it does not pull it's punches; it is the more darkly stunning for it. SGA gen.
Jack/Daniel, Find the River by
kres. Have you read this yet? It's a wash of beautiful words and then you get to the end and find yourself saying 'my God...' with all of this awe. Find the River is posted in its entirety now, completing the whole triptych, and it's just gorgeous like a hot shower with incredible prose.
janedavitt was merrily writing along for the
teal_ficathon and then decided that this was not the direction she wanted to go in, but it was so pretty that she couldn't resist posting it in it's own right: Off Base, Teal'c/Cameron/Vala PG-13.
For lovely Jack/Daniel (in the not-often explored Early Relationship With Awkwardness) go visit
destina's Aftermath.
cofax7 is writing a pretty SGA/Farscape crossover. Mmmm, Sheppard + Aeryn = very, very pretty. Alas, it is a WIP, but here you can have Part II.
I'm reading:
theemdash just recc'd this on
stargateficrec and I got to agree with her that it's a gud 'un-- um, two. Whatever: Plus Ca Change & Plus C'est La Meme Chose by livengoo at Area52. Jack/Daniel, starting with friends-with-benefits and working from there.
Also Used To It, by
carolyn_claire, which is stranded!Jack/Daniel and off of one of
stellahobbit's many wonderful collection lists (with recs) at
stargate_search.
Also
kellifer_fic is writing icon!fic. That is all.

Date: 2006-03-27 03:07 am (UTC)That's the one I posted. The inexplicable one. The 'why do I love this?' one.
Also, your's are wonderful and funny and not at all inexplicable (double negative, v. bad) or shame-worthy. You'll not find them in that list.

Date: 2006-04-05 06:33 am (UTC)Actually, LJ has been the most amazing resource and helped my writing immeasurably, both in finding betas and getting feedback and reading other work and having dialogs with the authors... have you posted any fic here yet? I can't recall.

Date: 2006-03-27 12:57 am (UTC)Gah! One of my stories is on there...!! *blinks* Hmmm... should I be worried that I'm on the same page as Rottweiller bestiality??
*reads* Oh, ok, so their reason it was a guilty pleasure was because it was Harlequin and *not* bad writing... I can live with that... *grins*
Thanks for the reccy hon... *mwah*
