a whole new genre...

I am not so capable of reading right now. My eyes keep crossing and the stress induced sleep debt has decided to cash in it's chits, like, right NOW. At 9:30. PRIME fanfic reading time, alas.
It's probably because I used up all my spare energy talking to my brother on the phone. Takes it out of a girl.
Anyway, I must point to a really extraordinary pairing. It's Jack/Daniel, but clone!Jack, and before you start picturing the teenager kid from the episode--no. Think young 27ish MacGyver RDA (without the mullet). Yeah, hunky, breezy, young Jack, who sees Daniel (slight future-ish, so 40s?) in a library in a suit.
Tell me you can resist that image. You just try. Me? I will now be digging through all the fic I can find now I have the pretty in my head (image by
skater_g8r for Cats' fic). Feel free to write me some. Ye Gawds. Do you see? No chain of command, no DADT, no bad knees, a chance to regain a little happiness, innocence? To do it over right? To not make the same mistakes like losing that easy flirty cameraderie he had with Daniel in the beginning? To STAND AROUND AND LOOK HOT?
Now, please direct your attention to: Ten Years Gone by
catspaw_sgjd, and Part II.
Angels and ministers of grace protect us from withdrawl.
ETA: recs of more of the like in comments. Gotta love the flist.

Date: 2006-03-23 10:46 pm (UTC)speaking of clone-jack/daniel -- there's
belladonna's 'can i have a refund on this body' series'
page here
truthfully, its been awhile since i read it so i can't give much of an opinion beyond i remember enjoying it.
For J/D with CloneJack/surprise, try her second chance series & its prequel. (i highly recommend her 'forever love' series as well).
prequel here

Date: 2006-03-23 11:23 pm (UTC)you know, other than re-reading old favorites I haven't really read any new J/D fic in so long. makes me sad. (plus those ncis boys, not to mention spike & xander of btvs are so distracting). Tho i've started watching from the beginning again on friday nights so i can feel the love being rekindled.
saving cats' story for saturday morning, some hotness to open the weekend?

Date: 2006-03-24 01:10 am (UTC)Also, Destina just posted some J/D called Aftermath (http://destina.livejournal.com/335394.html) which looks amazing, in case you get in a 'J/D hotness for the weekend must have MORE!' kind of place. *g*
*is such a pimp she'll pimp stuff she hasn't even read yet*

Date: 2006-03-24 07:32 am (UTC)I like the awkwardness of Aftermath (their relationship is still very new, and they still have to feel their way through it.) Nice.
Janedavitt on the other hand is trying to depress me...be sure you save Aftermath until after you read Jane's two drabbles, or you'll be stuck feeling depressed!

Date: 2006-03-25 07:56 pm (UTC)it was a great deleted scene/au/how it could have happened thing. But i told her in a long comment post that i agreed that it definitely didn't fit in the orignal story. I loved it, but unlike others clamoring for the next morning I'm more interested in what is happening in the "real" Geometry 'verse.

(plus there was the big oops when i deleted the first version).
Aw man, I hate it when that happens...I've deleted several of my huge smut day posts that way, right before I posted them. It ain't pretty, that's all I've got to say... Take your time, I'll be glad to see them whenever they get here.
