Jack and Daniel. Allllll about the J/D.
Mar. 6th, 2006 09:23 amIt has been brought to my attention that
greensilver, the woman we can thank for bringing us the Jack/Daniel ficathon from years past, may be concerned that there is no longer any interest in Jack and Daniel.
*waits for that to sink in*
I KNOW, it would be a travesty.
Fortunately, YOU can do something to convince her otherwise! And beg her to once again put in the huge amount of work it probably takes to run a ficathon! Go to her journal here and take her poll, give her some feedback on whether you'll write, the timing of the ficathon deadlines and starting a community, with no obligation to buy at this time (this is a loooow maintenance request, mah people.)
Now, you may be saying to yourself 'self,' you're saying, 'Minxy reccs a heckalota ficathons.' And, well, yes, I do; because they provide so much Good Fic, and the occasional deadline is good for jumpstarting the muses.
And here's the thing about ficathons: their deadlines vary. The
tealc_ficathon is still open to sign ups (and the prompts are getting more interesting. Go sign up to write 500 words and request something! Can't have too much inspiration) and the final works will be due May 1st. The
apocalyptathon is due June 1st and the
remixredux is due at the end of next week.
PLENTY OF TIME. Lots of love. So go tell
greensilver your preferences for deadlines. May? June? July? She's asking for imput.
If you need inspiration, I suggest you go to
green_grrl's journal, where she has created some picspam Introduction to Jack and Daniel and Their Hands in honor of Handporn Week. I know, it's brilliant.
In honor of greensilver, we now present to you, some of the incredible Jack/Daniel ficathons past: the 2004 Jack/Daniel Ficathon Master List, containing (among others): Eighteen body language cues, a caveman and an astronaut (indelicate_dark), For Each Ecstatic Instant (raqs), This Player Here, But in a Fiction (saffronhouse), Grounded (kormantic), The Aftereffects of Sustained Sarcophagus Useage (prillalar), A Heart For Every Fate (destina) and The Beautiful Uncut Hair of Graves (kylielee1000).
And, the 2005 Jack/Daniel Ficathon Master List. On it, you will find: destina's The Empty Well, taselby's East of Omaha, tafkarfanfic's Another Fine Universe You've Gotten Us Into and saffronhouse's Red Sky at Morning.
Seriously. But I gotta go otherwise I'll just spend the whole day reading these. Go represent!

Date: 2006-03-07 05:01 am (UTC)Speaking of ficathons, have you pimped tealc_ficathon on the Stargate comms? Maybe we ought to do before signups close?

Date: 2006-03-07 01:54 am (UTC):::lots and lots of smooches:::
You're right, there's some damn good fic that's come out of this ficathon in the past. I sure hope this works.
Hey, there's even a new sign-up on the Teal'cathon...I've been checking back since I signed up, because it looks so bare, you know?

Date: 2006-03-07 04:59 am (UTC)I love that it feels like people are willing to be talked into the Teal'c ficathon, but I would like to see some people I don't know. Wonder if Moonshayde has pimped in the various comms?
*smootches back lots and lots* Looks like there are upwards of 20 people interested, I hope that's enough interest. I'm guessing more will show for the actual signups as opposed to an informal poll.
