Farscape meta
Jan. 18th, 2006 08:13 pmMy 'scaper background, before we begin, is as follows: I watched the last episode when they did that big marathon right before the miniseries and I watched the mini. Curious, after that, I started watching the series but lost interest somewhere in the middle of season 1.
After a significant amount ofpoking and prodding encouragement in the form of
rydra_wong and
thassalia and the very very funny 'Farscape for 'Gaters' and vice versa from
cofax7 and
katie_m, respectively, along with other miscellaneous 'Scaper glee, I picked up the first season again, somewhere around Durka Returns to give it another shot.
The bargain being that that was when it started getting really good and came into it's own (and about when I gave up. Coincidence?) Turns out, I'd already seen Durka Returns, A Human Reaction and 2-3 more episodes so I didn't spend a whole lot of time rewatching those.
So this brings us to Nerve, the first new episode to me. Thoughts:
I'm starting to really get what 'Scapers mean by bodily fluids. I mean both John and Aeryn are looking really sweaty and teary and nasty this episode, which is sort of impressive, really. And how exactly is a damaged nerve going to let her work out but then spit up blood? *handwave handwave* Not Human Yadda Explanation #4
And D'Argo and Aeryn have a cool little interaction with the discussion of a warrior dying alone if not in battle and yes yes I'll help you die alone, yadda yadda, and then both acting totally different. That was cool. Plays into my current *thinky* state about whether Not Saying things isn't very important sometimes.
The 'nerve sample' thingy they got going on? Totally made me laugh because they are using what appears to be a Beckman Pipetteman. I guess they really do have a corner on the scientific market.
HEY! Scorpy! Where you BEEN, bro? Oooooh, you creepy. How is Harvey going to get in John's head? And I think I missed the part where we found out what exactly tipped Scorpy off that John was not all he appeared.
and awww, the Phantom of the Opera's batfucknuts little brother Stark! You know, in the mini he was pretty zen, but here he is just, wow. Really nuts, innit he?
You know, the Crace storyline isn't terribly interesting to me. And the blonde Sebatian (sp?) chick? Don't even really remember her name, but I like how she uses props to actually look like she's a hacker. Is she really short or is Chiana taller than I thought she was.
Huh, the blonde appears to be rather gullible, as anyone can see that Chi has a lousy poker face. Can't you tell she's speaking really slowly all of a sudden and doing the crazy head tilt scheme? Trap. She's scheming. Also, is it me or is Chiana speaking differently than she did in the mini? Whoa. Flame on, Chiana.
HEY! That's a lousy place to stop the episode! John needs eyedrops to help with the pinkeye. *mutters and queues up another*
The Hidden Memory. Right.
So was it me or was John's 'stay the hell out of my mind!' very like a conditioned response? Maybe he's just freaked out, but I'm thinking it's the Daddy/Einstein in his head.
You know, all this talk about 'the chair' totally reminds me of the Atlantis 'enzyme' and the Dark Angel 'virus'. Might work for the writers but too much emphasis sounds a bit hokey, dudes. Plus, someone explain to me how an enzyme can be transmitted in food sometime because it was my understanding that the stomach would totally nuke that protein into shreds. But that's a discussion for Atlantis peeps.
And more Aeryn & D'Argo cuteness. *pets D'Argo* He's such a softie. Reminds me of Teal'c. I like him muchly.
Bwahahaha. I like the blonde more now. *snicker* She's sneaky.
And Scorpy is wonderfully demented.
But you know? After 9ish years of SG-1, you gotta admire the fact that Aeryn goes in with leather clothes and a big gun and that's it for gear. *thumbs up for Aeryn*
Ooooh, and Stark is all shiny. Shiny shiny Stark. That's my Zen Master! Awww, he's petting John. You know, before, I could only really see the John/Aeryn ship, but I'm starting to think other possibilities may be open to us here, though John and Aeryn are always gonna be my fav. Well, mostly Aeryn. I really love Aeryn. Aww, and now I love John because he honestly just said 'How you doin'?' ah ah ah!
Um, so Scorpy and the red haired Dominatrix? What is with the leather tails? Isn't that annoying???
Eeep! Aeryn. Awww, I love Aeryn. Even when she's being all ruthless and kickass and causing screaming and stuff. The blonde is boring me again.
And, the universal constant: The good guys can aim without looking, the bad guys couldn't hit the broad side of a barn if their life depended on it (and it frequently does).
