So I'm pretty flexible, normally, and when you have benched-athlete muscles, they start to ache with disuse. All of this is to say, I've been stretching even when doing nothing; there's my normal Mary Poppins (AKA ballet's first position) stance when I'm leaning back against a counter, but the real sign that I'm ready to go back out and work out? I was falling asleep last night, getting comfy, when I realized I was lying on my back with my legs folded Indian Style. This was possibly also for warmth, because my feet were cold and I could tuck them into the back of my knees to warm up, but still, probably not good for my back.

When I realized that, I sort of languously untucked one leg (the foot wasn't tucked well enough to really warm up anyway) and fell asleep with my legs imitating that one-legged flamingo stance.

Which is so much more dignified. It's a good thing I sleep alone.

Um.

I think this Dixie Chicks song would make a really kick ass Sam vid, which might have some cathartic 'played out love like a crime' moments about how the 'things' she had going with Pete and or Jack were just so, so wrong, but ultimately ought to be about the death of Jacob. Just in case, you know, someone with more skills than I felt like teasing out Sam's angst in a visual way.

So, I been lazy today and thumbing through [livejournal.com profile] sdraevn's really extraordinary rec's page, and finding some older work, authors I hadn't seen, work to be savored and some people I really need to write detailed gushing feedback to, just in case it makes them happy. Was focusing on the authors I hadn't known, though, because then you get to go through their archives and find marvelous stuff.

Mary Jane (yes, of Willemakee, which will break your heart in an 'oh dear God' kind of way if it hasn't already) has tragically only written one other SG-1 fic, as far as I can tell, but it's amazing too: Silk has light bondage, not for kink, but for anonymity, and to great effect. Jack/Daniel, NC-17.

And, now I'm hearing this conversation in my head, where Daniel insists that he needs to know and Jack saying back, very quietly and with a edge of pleading that he does know, he knows. Except for Daniel, it isn't enough. He needs to know how, when, what Jack will look like, how he will move, what he will say, how he will taste, smell, breathe, touch, feel. Daniel wants everything. More importantly, he asks for it, and Jack really has never been good at denying Daniel anything, has he? And Jack knows that Daniel thinks it's an all or nothing situation, but that really, the only way it could happen was to give all. Once the first word was spoken, that was the only way it was going to go down.

So, someone feel free to write down what the voices in my head are saying, kay? And, you now *gestures* embellish according to your own particular... idiom.

Right, more from the annals of the great, which I may not have officially rec'd yet. Driftwood by Dale Edmonds. Tag for 'the light', but not an easy fix. Jack/Daniel, NC-17.

More episode based recs:

Dreams and Fables by [livejournal.com profile] thewildmole. Post Crystal Skull, and nicely devoid of whimpering. Also? Totally believable guy Not-Discussion.

And the gorgeous, gorgeous, stands on it's own but even BETTER with the episodic landmarks, Out of Season by [livejournal.com profile] eliade. Things have been noted about the jolting resonance of Shades of Grey following so hard upon 100 Days, but never so eloquantly or seemlessly with Jack and Daniel coming together (also with really good Not-Discussion.) Really highly recommended.

Also, 'member when I was blathering on about small moments being really meaningful? Dale wrote one of those too, about how Rodney is a cat person, even in Pegasus: Talking in Tongues.

That reminded me of [livejournal.com profile] troyswann's really starkly wonderful Rodney piece. Loyal readers will note that this is a re-rec.

But all that talking about small moments and movements being the most important, sexiest, most telling things ever? [livejournal.com profile] wraith816 wrote me Jack and Daniel, hands touching, mouths apart..

Lastly, [livejournal.com profile] raqs, [livejournal.com profile] thegrrrl2002, [livejournal.com profile] ximeria, [livejournal.com profile] ana_grrl and [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong have committed wonderful p0rn at [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis's p0rn battle. If you haven't seen that yet... why haven't you seen that yet? It's so maaaaarvelous.

Alright, I really must go eat sushi and then exercise now. A bad combination, you say? I'm not giving up the exercising.

I think you should win a prize for being far more flexible than I. *blink*

And I've been pimped; yay! *feels loved*

Oooooh, I don't think I've read "Driftwood"...*scampers off*

I'm reading back over that and.. you did get that I was lying flat, then? No knees up in the air or anything like that? Good. And, for the record, flexibility is like soft hair, it only matters to people who already love you and will continue to think you are the cat's meow regardless.

Plus flexibility doesn't burn calories, and I just ate a big piece of pizza after coming home. No problem with the sushi, though.

You might also check out Battlefields (http://www.bplus.ca/tablet/stories/ec%20site/battlefields.htm) by Ellen Caldera. It's gen, but so far it's heavy on the Jack and Daniel friendship, so SUBTEXT.
