And, so, therefore... I was unable to go into work today *exaggerated sad face*

I have stayed home, I have not bothered to do my hair, I have my glasses, not my contacts on. So really? Picture Gigi Edgley as Chiana, but not blue and with funky wide black glasses on, and that's what I look like. Only not exactly Chiana because I'm in my old comfy jeans and a gigantic Irish sweater. Plus, I'm not bouncing all around the place and trying to get into everyone's pants. But that's only because I was taught to stand up straight and, frankly, there isn't anyone else here (but if my sweetie were here and not flying across the country to see his family? All bets would be off.)

Instead! I am finishing up my Christmas wrapping while it rains freezing rain and hail outside. And now? Now I ponder which of the fics I've been working on I can manage a resolution for. I am aware that they both need resolutions, but for some reason, I get all inspired, write the intro, the development, the climax (sometimes multiple ones, ar ar ar) and then, I dunno, breathe a sigh of relief and hit save, thinking I'll finish it later. But then, all the important stuff has happened so my motivation to finish? Not so much. My betas will attest: editing almost always involves doing proper justice to the resolution. (side note to delph: remember the Sam/Daniel one? Yeah, first time I sent that to you I had no resolution. Mostly 'cause I really thought they should have sex, but ultimately they were going in a 'not on the first date' kind of direction. Eh.)

So I went to go and see King Kong and it was magnificent. All the characters were marvelous, well rounded, quirky, eccentric, strong, and sometimes twistedly dark personalities and played brilliantly (perks of being the guy who did LOTR: next film you can get anyone you want). However, and I think I can say this without giving away a single spoiler: I will go see anything involving Andy Serkis from now on. Mostly because it took me into the third scene before I recognized the man in his Not CG character.

They were all great, but Andy is now up there with Joss Whedon in the list of people I am flabbergastedly impressed by. That might not be a word, but it's true.

And now, the fic recs:

Aftermath by Victoria Custer *sigh* PWPs, they are pretty pretty things. This one is John/Rodney and post 'The Storm' and 'The Eye'.

[livejournal.com profile] thegrrl2002 wrote John/Rodney Christmas Schmoop. And I love her for it. A Little Bit Crazy, is also brilliant. [meta note: I don't know why I waffle on reading Atlantis. I should see that thegrrrl wrote it and just read on principal. *shakes head at illogical self*]

[livejournal.com profile] sgslashygirl posted some wordplay/foreplay Camiel Cameron/Daniel. The characters are well done: The Point.

Sal ([livejournal.com profile] troyswann) wrote a happy little sequel-snippet for The Dirt of Sowing and Reaping (which is a marvelous jaunt of a dark, brooding apocathreesome) called fic for Cofax (cuz it was [livejournal.com profile] cofax7's birthday and the girl got such great fic! woot!). Jack/Daniel/Sam, SG-1.

ETA: AAaaaaaaiiiiiiieeeeeee! She wrote an addendum! And it's for me ('cause I badgered her)! *boggle* It's so SWEET! It's so Jack...

Also, someone has been strong-armed into last minute writing of a fic for me in the [livejournal.com profile] sg1teamficathon. Thank you, whoever you are very nice person! That cliff thing was really quite optional. *hugs*

Plus, a side of meta interest:
[livejournal.com profile] moonshayde had some interesting meta thoughts on Beneath the Surface that led to some interesting questions and my personal conclusion that fans can always find some excuse for RDA's mental vacations, lol. But no, seriously, *backtracks* no, I love Jack. I just prefer fanon Jack to canon Jack.

Also? I am still wildly entertained by the icon update. This one is by [livejournal.com profile] infinitemonkeys. Love it. So wonderous and strong.

Um, soap? Wha?

The one that I think is really awful is Shwier. And not just because I think it's a poor pairing, it just sounds too much like the New York City term (I think it's New York) for a cream cheese spread, which is Schmear. Cream cheese, ick, no.

Um, soap? Wha?

I suspect that my subconscious is probably connecting it to "Camay".
