janedavitt is WORKING ON *whimper* a sumptuous PWP: Can't Take The Heat, which was meant to be a 400 word fic as her 400th fic, but actually turned into 8x400 word fic (at last count), which is at least 8 times better, IMO, except it's a WIP and I got SUCKED IN! Aaaarrrrrgh. Jack/Daniel (SG-1)

mmmchelle wrote a heartachingly gorgeous h/c John/Rodney first time fic. 'Tis a bit dark, as Rodney is recovering from non-con, but it's really well done with complex emotions and depth and beauty and connection. Place Your Hand.

raqs claims she wrote Firefly crack!fic. I await with baited breath. How could anything inspired by Sean Maher's eyes and blamed on Brokeback Mountain be wrong?

Also, somewhere along the line of manically trying to finish the last bits of things that will earn me my stripes and graduation, several plot bunnies (in the form of kres saying 'next time write me porn!', and agentotter saying 'we should have a Samficathon, or maybe a SamGetsLaidathon' and then writing an OMG hot tripling/pairing of Sam/John/Rodney = The Second Way Sam and Rodney Didn't Make Out: Ex Gratia (as a favor)) formed a lobbying conspiracy and hijacked part of my brain.

And, I so didn't have any brain to spare. *head/desk*

But, writing p0rn is really very fun.

Sounds like an interesting discussion on your list. Hope your correspondent gets to read your fic when it's done. (Which maybe it even is now? I say, blinking at the datelines on this thread and feeling guilty.)

Don't feel guilty. It is fun to revisit discussions. Yup, smutfic (or PWP with sugar on top gained the final propositioning scene and a proper resolution, and some fantastic beta comments.

So we're in solid editing phase now. Yay for Christmas break?

The list is funny. It's not a pimp your own fic place but instead an announcement list for a webpage. So I have to wait for an invite to say 'come read MY SAM!' though a few of them are on LJ too and have read my writing (or at Area 52). They are a great list, but OTP J/D slashers through and through, so at the point where sometimes they resent Sam a lot. Or, I should say, individuals decide she isn't worth their time. They aren't the first or the only fans I've known who feel that way. She is a very inconsistantly written character. Guilty of trying to please all the people all the time, I suspect.

Yay for Christmas break! Yay for betas!

So much of the appeal of SG-1 for me is the characters in my head that the characters on the show prompt, if that makes any sense. Like, I know I'm filling in Jack gaps, and I know I'm seeing a Daniel who isn't technically entirely represented on the screen. So I understand when other people's heads don't get an interesting Sam in them. And of course I understand when J/D slashers' heads resent or reject the Sam on the screen; if I look at only what the later-series show shows, I don't see a sexless vanilla Sam, but I don't see a Sam I always like a whole lot either. So I love fics that flesh out a really cool between-the-video-frames Sam to help add to the cool Sam in my head. I can also understand not wanting to bother with that at all. I was more receptive to good Jack/Sam fics before S8 of the show. ::sigh:: Lucky for me, nothing has damped my appreciation for good Sam/Daniel and OT3/OT4 ... but I feel like starting a 'Don't blame Carter, blame the ptb!' campaign. *g*
