New work from kres and paian

kres. probably needs no introduction, but the details are the timing (right before S9 started) and the pairings, which I find I'm disinclined to mention. Let's say that it's about Daniel and it's slash, but also about misunderstandings and missed signals. I think this could be one of my favorite of Kres's work. All other praise applies: gorgeous prose, haunting evocative atmosphere, and an overwhelming feeling of emptiness and loss as Daniel makes plans to leave.
And then there'spaian, the Beautiful One. Her last minute October contribution to the fanfic is the tame dark-fic Bound, an indescribable take on Jack and Daniel in S5. Most would say the friendship suffered, or there were words exchanged and no time to take them back, or the UST was never spoken and now there is only loss. But what if they were trying the whole time? What if the collective weight of their sadnesses just got overwhelming and THAT'S why they fell apart? I'm beginning to adore whatever dark corner of Paian's harddrive is sheltering these beautiful pieces.

fic4martha was posted for everyone to read and it's gorgeous. The S9 Jack and Daniel has it's own set of challenges, and this is a brilliant dance around those and an amazing look into a gesture frought with meaning. I'm too tired to do it justice here, but go read anyway. Lodgecombing.
