When they aren't driving me crazy, they are so sweet.

This conversation is being repeated a lot with different family members in the last few days:


They: So, I hear from (Dad/Mom/the Universe) that you had a breakthrough at work!
Me: Yeah, I got the R-state active site in my structure! But, like, in one chain, which is... extra fantastic, actually.
They: ...
They: Is that what you've been trying to do?
Me: Yes! I knew I'd disrupted the allosteric communication from the kinetics, but it was AWESOME to get the structure too! It probably makes our next journal article!
They: ...
They: Great!
Family Member in the Background: Who's on the phone?
They: It's (Daughter/Sister/Niece)! She did something great at work!
