A February Weekend Recs List, Part the second.

To continue with the genderswap theme: [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock for 14 Valentines wrote Lustrous, a mckay/sheppard genderswap that fabulously sets up the situation as voluntary, temporary and something McKay finds interesting and fascinating. It's a bit of a twist on the general trope of resisting seeing how the other half lives, and Rodney is characteristically funny about it. NC-17.

[livejournal.com profile] princessofg posted several more parts to her 1950's AU WIP called Maybe It Was Memphis (link goes to part 9) The story itself is evolving to nicely show the trust building up between Jack as a Blue Angles pilot and Daniel as a Professor and government consultant, but the illicitness of the affair and the danger of their situation is really nicely present. NC-17.

Who's Left and Who's Leaving , a fascinating take on apocafic by attrition, from [livejournal.com profile] fiercelydreamed was posted as part of SGA flashfic's Ways to Die Challenge. I don't want to give much away, but it's *fascinating* and highly recommended. Team, gen, worksafe.

It's now been thoroughly jossed by canon, but this is brilliant backstory for John, and a psychologically complex, structurally interesting way towards hooking up with his best friend. [livejournal.com profile] busaikko's Five, Four, Three, Two, One (Zero) (SGA, NC17, mckay/sheppard sga)

[livejournal.com profile] agentotter, who is a rather fabulous writer, wrote the rather amazing Borrowing Freedom, a backstory for Mal that sets up just after the war on Whitefall, without a full work permit, without much hope and without a future. But there's a wonderful horse. Gen.

[livejournal.com profile] kalquessa wrote a brilliantly funny Sam-is-kick-ass story (with gladiators) called Girls (and Jaffa) Do Not Fight Fair that is just so wonderfully teamy and happy, after a mission return delayed. Team, S8, worksafe.

[livejournal.com profile] katie_m's remix_redux fic from a few years ago gave me a nice boost of confidence writing poetry for my last story, but this one also has some fantastic strong Sam, and a wonderful outside POV of our strong Sam. It's a brilliant story, very well told. The Sangata, Book 1 (The Ramayana Remix); (Stargate: SG1, Sam Carter, worksafe)

[livejournal.com profile] audrarose's Enough For Me is a cute little 'don't wanna go home in the middle of the night' story. I'm still not sure when I started being okay with rps, but this fandom does wierd things to me. And it's sweet, cuddle, nearly-asleep schmoop. *shrugs* (Jensen/Jared, rps, SPN, NC-17)

Pimping:

The next conversation in the People of Color SF Carnival will be hosted by [livejournal.com profile] ladyjax on the subject of Intraracial Dialog (What Lies Between Us). Defining self and variations between, the ways community calls out and forgives it's own. Links are solicited, through the end of the month.

[livejournal.com profile] abyssinia4077 is hosting a prompted Stargate comment ficathon to cure the February blues, and is taking prompts through the 12th, writing open through the end of the month. Go Here to Prompt, YAY. Gen, smut, crack and kink welcome, no bashing. SGA prompts are a little low right now.

A February Weekend Recs List, Part the Third.

Curious and Curiouser a Pushing Daisies/Supernatural crossover of cuteness from [livejournal.com profile] lunarknightz. Worksafe, S2/3 for SPN.

[livejournal.com profile] shrift wrote a wonderful, quirky, in character post-Quarantine, PG-13-rated, revelatory, Best Somethings. mckay/sheppard, sga, worksafe.

[livejournal.com profile] sardonicsmiley wrote cases of mistaken identity, and interesting twist on stereotypes and reactions, and what the team learns from it (mostly what John and Rodney learn) mckay/sheppard, sga, worksafe.

Now I must admit that I believe my del.ici.ous account may be messing with me, because I am utterly sure I've recc'd some of these before, or ought to have done if I saved the rec back in OCTOBER.

Fairly brilliant Jack and Daniel friendship tag for Season 2's Need Spirits (the one with the Native American Aliens) Because" SG-1, PG, gen from [livejournal.com profile] lokei.

Memento Mori by kixxa. Yes, I am so, so late to the brilliant Farscape fic party. This is an AU ending to Look at the Princess, I think. Anyway, frelling brilliant, not that any of you needed me to tell you so. Worksafe.

[livejournal.com profile] maisierita's long, plotty SGA slashfic is fantabulous: Forget Me Not (link goes to part 1 of 5, complete) even the emotional connection with OCs seems reasonable and worthy. Not worksafe, but you could push it. John/Rodney, R rated.

The Problem with Eggnog, Uncommon Thoughts, and Sharing a Bed with Sirius Black, from [livejournal.com profile] xylodemon is my favorite HP pairing (Remus/Sirius, in their Hogwart's days--I prefer to think senior year or something similar) with teasing and revelations and this one just happens to be set on Christmas morning. Slash, and not worksafe.

[livejournal.com profile] dsudis: Stargate SG-1 drabble thing. A S2ish Jack and Daniel friendship story that I am just sure I've recced before. Seriously. Deja vu, here.

The post-Be All My Sins Remembered fic Negotiating Shadows is a great Teyla & team story that gives Rodney's reaction and Teyla knocking a little sense into John. Gen and worksafe from [livejournal.com profile] aesc.

Certain People Got a God Complex by [livejournal.com profile] eleveninches is funny oblivious!John/Rodney, with Teyla and Ronon and Elizabeth being long suffering, and Ford being kind of crazy. Worksafe.
