Oooh! Oooh! FANNISH CONTENT, I HAZ SOME!

The prompts at Festibility, a ficathon for fanworks about disabled characters (at
access_fandom) are getting so damn cool.
I prompted for Stargate and Firefly. Anyone want to prompt more? Or prompt for Star Trek? Pushing Daisies? Farscape? Eureka?
This is just such a great opportunity to play out the repercussions of our heroes' actions and missteps. There are fanart prompts as well.

Date: 2010-07-11 12:18 am (UTC)I just got back from 5 hours sea (okay, 4 hours in boat and one hour having lunch on a beach) kayaking! It was awesome! And made me think of you, hence the comment. Sea kayaking!
(although, holy crap am I sore. Nothing like being in a two person kayak going against the current with the other person essentially not paddling to give you a heck of a workout)

Date: 2010-07-11 02:03 am (UTC)I've been lake kayaking this last year, and I would characterize my love of my lake as: constant and daily, whether or not I get in my kayak or look out the window in the morning first thing when I wake up or hike on the frozen ice or whatever. I do love living on my lake.
However, when I go out on my kayak, it's for a half hour or an hour. I tool around the lake and then I come back.
I got out on the ocean while in California last week? And my old team put me in a boat. For two or more hours, at competitive speed. I loved it so much I wouldn't let them take me out of the boat. I wouldn't take a break. There is nothing like the ocean.
And wait until you team paddle with people who know what they're doing. If you think being on the ocean is fun when you're doing all the work, just wait until you have support!
(Best whole body workout ever. Better than swimming, I swear. And I love swimming.)

Date: 2010-07-11 03:00 pm (UTC)I've kayaked a few times in lakes and rivers but this was my first in salt water with waves (it was in the sound, so not quite ocean, but still). It was so awesome!
And yay to getting back into the boat with your old team! Must have been so much fun.

Hee :) I did have a blast, but I will admit to getting pretty damn annoyed with him by the end, because it really was exhausting paddling two people and a double kayak against the current, essentially all by myself. Also, I need to use proper form because apparently if I used my back/core muscles more my arms wouldn't have hurt as bad as they did yesterday. No clue when I'll ever have the chance to try as part of a bigger crew, but it could be awesome.
(hee. To be honest, I didn't feel the whole body thing - I think I relied on my arms too much and didn't use the rest correctly)
But it was SO awesome! WATER! (I love Colorado a lot, I really do. But it's lacking in water)
