minxyYesterday, the first job ad I'll be applying for was posted (I have until October to submit, but let us not discuss it further.)
OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD THIS IS THE BIG SEARCH FOR TENURE-TRACK I JUST DID A JOB SEARCH LAST FUCKING YEAR I'M FUCKING TIRED OF DOING THIS WHAT IF I DON'T GET IT RIGHT OH CRAP...

I am distracting myself, as one does, by working my ass off.
The boy I left behind (soon to be roommate if I can GET A JOB LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT IT) has been distracting me in the evening hours with entertaining things on the internet.
[side story: I have known several newlyweds (or about-to-be-weds) who have made a clear distinction between The Wedding and Getting Married. It's pretty screamingly obvious to us that E and I will get married, probably sooner rather than later, (and it's really nice that we can do so any time we prefer.) And E. is really comically on board with getting married, but absolutely terrified of The Wedding, mostly because of The Families. So this distinction between Getting Married and The Wedding? E. is really, really, running with this.]

Lest you think we're too overly serious about this: The Wedinator: Trashing Your Special Day Is Our Prime Directive. I'm entertained by this image: Are There People Under There? But the l33t cake is pretty adorkable too.
Moving on...
The Steampunk Workshop is always good for a discussion of whether that's the best way to etch something with acid. I do also love when they post about shoes, though.
My Food Looks Funny is good for a few hours of lost time. I particularly enjoyed The Brain Slug Cupcakes.
The Tim Gunn on Superhero Costumes, parts 1 and 2, on NPR, is making the rounds again. I love Project Runway, so I'm highly entertained ("From the pectorals up, I get it; the rest is perplexing.")
I've now made this Russian Black Bread twice, and I continue to find it absolutely delicious. I enjoy the flavor of black coffee and dark chocolate (which is to say, the flavor more than the sugar) and this bread pairs those flavors with molasses, caraway, rye and wheat. It works so well. You should have smelled my house. Mmmmmmmm. I will say that I don't like seeds *in* my bread, so I grind them up first (the decorative seeds on the top are fine.)
For a little dirty humor, Wednesday's Questionable Content was hilarious. I love Faye. Also, I really need this t-shirt. It glows in the dark!
And lastly, for your geekery: The Live Feed from the Large Hadron Collider You will believe; oh yes, you will.
ETA: Ten Words You Need To Stop Misspelling. Every time you misspell weird, a dolphin gets run over by a jet ski. And other heartwarming gems.
Also: The Worlds Oldest Sex Toy which moonlights as a flint, apparently.
