That sound of panic you most certainly did not hear this weekend was a near disaster with my computer. Thankfully, the problem was solved with a $40 part, and not a $500 logic board (or worse--a new computer).

Not, obviously, that I wouldn't love a new computer, if it was offered to me in a lottery-type windfall.

I feel it's important to point out to the universe, though, that I would greatly prefer not to have to handle any more major changes for the next, oh, six months. I have enough to be going on with for the moment, I feel, with applying for jobs and likely an out of state move at minimum.

This is the part where I attempt to return to a normal breathing pattern.

I consider myself a pretty adaptable girl, really. I like change, I think new things are fun adventures, yadda...

The possibility of having to buy a new computer this weekend was nearly enough to give me a panic attack. I am approaching the maximum flexibility available, I think.

The universe should take note: do not want more challenges, thanks.

Wonderful that you were able to salvage and have it fixed. :::massive hugs:::

Ah, technology. Keep breathing!

Oh yeah, that's definitely good. And, perversely, it makes me feel better that (hopefully) this fall I will be living somewhere else, with a lower cost of living in general and a higher salary. Even setting aside the likelihood of getting along better with my supervisor, this is likely to be a great positive change for me.

Then, maybe, I can finally upgrade my poor 5-year old laptop. The universe is pleased to take note: THEN. NOT NOW.

I've been thinking of you and telling the universe to do right by you. *hugs*

And yes, laptop needs to do its duty until you're ready.

I know I've not been keeping up with my flist lately, but didn't you just move? Surely you've paid your dues to the Gods of Change already. The universe definitely owes you a nice, placid, unchanging couple of months.

And yay for cheaply-fixed computer!

Just to my own place in the same city. I, actually, wouldn't take that back for all it was stressful right before all this other stuff began. And, thankfully, I'm on a month-to-month lease.

I could use a little settling time, to be honest. This is bypassing 'change' status and verging on 'chaos' at this point. That shit is not on.

I'm glad your computer is going to be okay, and please start breathing again. We all kind of like have you around!
