It's a doctor fetish. Found a new fic today with Janet in it, and thought, self, you are NAMED after minxy!Janet. Time to build a proper shrine to your namesake.

Betacandy, at betacandy_sgfic has posted a brilliant Janet's introduction to the team fic, S1, just post Emancipation. Assess This, PG, gen. Fabulous voice, amazing instant relationships as well as those that take a little longer to settle in, really good observation skills from Janet and I love the sense that this is not the only thing she's done today, not the wierdest, and possibly not the most important, but goodness, it left an impression.

teand wrote a great five things for Janet, in which she remains professional and spunky, and says hilarious things in a marvelous internal dialog Janet voice. Five Things Janet Fraiser Didn't Put in her Medical Reports, for ducks_in_a_row.

What it is to be a woman in this man's military, on a bad day: teand's Infirmary, After Sam and Janet, post rape-trauma, emotions flying everywhere and walking the line between doctor and friend.

Cleanliness Is Next to Godliness by kaz. Meridian missing scene between Janet and Daniel. Between those moments when Sam says 'he could still be radioactive!' and Daniel tells Jack how his body will fail, Janet is with him in those between times, and her heartbreak and professionalism is very realistic to me. This could squick you out if you are squeemish about cleaning mouths and noses and harsh cleaning solvents, but from my POV it's not too graphic. S5, first person POV.

Every Art and Artifice by the stylus Beautiful and heartbreaking backstory for Janet, nicely explores the irony of healer/soldier, and is a brilliant character study.

Quarantine by Joag. Very talented writer here taking on Daniel's POV as he and the rest of the team get sick off world and simultaneously take care of each other with limited means. The end particularly spoke to me because I've had declarations of love and marriage from recovering patients, and it never gets old. Plus, I have this thing about character voices, and Daniel's is very well done here. Short, gen, lovely.

And, because I haven't pointedly recc'd this before on LJ but have shouted to the rooftops how much I love in other venues, I rec now: Dinner With Janet by sideburns. = alyburns on LJ J/D, Janet's POV, Late Season 7, pretty marvelously wonderful. And I LOVE Janet. Note the caps, so a fic set after Heroes that works with canon and still earns my LOVE (and detailed gushy f/b)? Uh huh. LOVE, people.

And, while we're on Janet, Rocketchick's Before Knowing Remembers is also wonderous. It's the rare femslash rec, but worth it, really worth it, for extraordinary use of canon, continuity, Cassandra, AUs.... bloody marvelously crafted story. You might also check out her Janet vid Where Do I Begin?, which is unspeakably well done with fantastic music.

Also by RocketChick, "Short Skirt, Long Jacket". So very sexy. I always liked the song and kind of wanted to use it in one of my own videos but couldn't figure out how. Leave it to RocketChick to do it very well.

Also "Answer" is a very pretty and a very good Janet vid.

I must say. I never looked at RocketChick until I started paying attention to vid awards. But I absolutely LOVE every video by her. I was thinking of making an LJ post of vid recs. They would all be from the current awards nomination list. I'm kind of worried it might be viewed as an attempt to sway votes or some such, but really there were a LOT of good videos for which I just want to express my undying gratitude. I may go ahead and do it anyway. Must get the list prepped with links and such, comments already prepared.

Have you heard about when the vid awards will be closed for voting (with the thing and all, that may be flexible) because you could organize your links and then post that day or somesuch.

The list of your very favorite vids is one thing, recs of the entire award list is kind of another.

Anyway, I was wondering if you've read 'Sting in the Tail' by Doc? It's not online anymore [possibly taken down due to her writing a SG novel] but it's very good. A Janet fic with a few familiar faces, very nice twist also. Bit like Every Art and Artifice, which is THE best Janet-centric fic I've ever read. I was reminded of its hurts-so-good quality when your rec above prompted me to read it again just now.

It's very interesting to me that so many of my favorite Janet writers are not on LJ--it's a unique thing.

I would love to read that story, as long as it's okay with the author to have it circulated. My lj handle at livejournal.com will find me, if you wouldn't mind sending it (thank you so much).

And, awwww, the gateverse remix. I loved writing that story, and am currently beta-ing Diana's next installment! I should get on that, actually. Thank you for your kind comments (at first I thought you meant the remix_redux story from two years ago, which is Janet! Hee!)

Ahh, Bedside Manners! I have read it, can't believe I didn't comment but maybe the blind feedback system made me put it off and then I promptly forgot. Or something *winces at pathetic excuse*
Love the Jack/Janet dynamic in it - those two...honestly!

So, that's another thank you I owe you. Finding good Janet fic is always a little like discovering a £10 note in your coat pocket from last winter. :D
