Fun with alternative pairings (fanfic recs, SG-1)

With a few exceptions, this is largely anything but D/J or S/J (because I object in principal to Sam/Jack. I think they aren't good for each other. But I do acknowledge canon attraction and it's never a bad thing to work continuity into fanfic). So within the following list o'recs you will find: Sam/Teal'c, Teal'c/Jack, Sam/Rodney, Vala/Anyone, and I suppose it's possible I'll find a Daniel/Teal'c someday (unlikely, though). ETA: Sam/Daniel have moved into their own posting together. And I finally posted a collection of gen fic and a separate post for threesomes and moresomes. There's more of it than I thought.

janedavitt posted Holding Pattern from the Eclipsed 'verse. I must say that this had great themes and I love that the emotions involved really colored Paul's perceptions of what was happening. Also love that for a WIP, Jane really makes these stories stand alone, so I don't get that 'aaargh! WIP!' frustration. Little cliff's notes background if you've lost track of which way's up. I think these are all NC-17, Jack/Paul Davis.

Also, the beautiful Otter fic (that's agentotter) that got me going with my little smutfic: Ex Gracia (Done As a Favor) which is the second of 5 Ways Sam and Rodney Never Made Out, and all of them are marvelous: Fic 1 is Rodney And Sam, Possibly Making Out. Possibly fic#3: De Profundis (Up From the Depths). These may or may not qualify as fic #4 and 5, but she wrote one for me so I'm all giddy: Lapsus Linguae (A Slip of the Tongue). Acts of Contrition too.

These are an unusual pairing, but really, shockingly, read them anyway even if you don't think it'll work, GOOD. Laying Open by thegrrrl2002 and sequel What You Need by kylielee1000. Jack/PAUL, and GOOD, as well as good smut. Did I mention that? They're GOOD.

An incredible Jack/Daniel friendship fic. Echoes of Autumn by moonshayde. Nice depth and emotional complexity, had me really worried for them.

OT4. Happy Birthday Daniel. Mmmm. And Daniel For Dessert by wisdomeagle, who apparently writes whatever she wants on Daniel's birthday each year. Bloody marvelous idea.

Something Like Chutney by Tallulah Rasa Jack/Daniel UST, J/S messed up 'ship. Stranded on another planet, but with excellent characters and just amazing thoughts. Yup. I rec'd something with S/J in it again. I'm so fickle.

This is the only S/J ship I have ever rec'd. This is, why didn't we notice that we couldn't hold a conversation? This is the characters, this is dark, this is what would happen if they tried to force it. This is worth reading, here. Accident Waiting To Happen by nostalgia_lj. It's short, my slashers, and it won't hurt... much.

Also from janedavitt are two really well characterized Jack/Teal'c fics. And durned if she doesn't make it work! Spit and Polish and Wishful Thinking.

raqs has written sequel to Dark Moon, High Tide at pegasus_b called Under a Broken Moon. Pegasus B is an AU where Daniel is not tapped for the Stargate Program until his boss, Elizabeth Wier takes him to Atlantis as part of that expedition. Jack goes as the military leader as well, but in this story, it's Rodney/Daniel and Rodney/Jack... and some John/Teyla. It's wonderful, it's recommended, and you just TRY to not root for the unusual pairings. I dare you.

In the same vein, the lovely kellifer_k contributes Jack/Rodney flirting: Overlooked And raqs wrote a beautiful Christmas piece for them too: Wrapping Paper.

Solace by surrealphantast. A fic with ship and slash on the 1 year anniversary of Daniel's ascension, so creative, and good with het sexy as well as the slash.

The shipslashomgwtfathon which is just incredibly entertaining.

Respectable by troyswann. First installment from the Pegasus B universe, it's Daniel/McKay. No, seriously! And they're dancing, and it's the sexiest thing ever to not involve actual *sex*.

Echoes by raindroproses. Sam/Teal'c post Pete's death (okay, so it's AU. And can I just say, poor Pete, he gets no respect.)

Are you deeply disappointed in me? Truthfully, Jack is rarely the draw in a story for me, I usually identify more with Doctors and science geeks for some reason. I'm morbidly curious about Sam/Teal'c fic, though.

However, never let it be said that I'm unadventurous.. have you some recs I should check out? *is timid*

Oh, THAT'S what you mean? I've read Teand's Big Band Series (sort of a series)! They were not nearly as squicky as one would think. Really they hint at backstory and some kinks of Harry's.
