Ever since last weekend, with it's Temeraire 4 and The Intuitionist binge reading, and the filing that resulted in me having actual access to my art supplies with resulted in me actually *drawing* something....

I've been in this creative headspace. It starts around 4 in the afternoon, when I begin to be absolutely useless at work and can barely even put away my stuff I'm so scattered.

But then I come home and I read or I draw or I cook or something.

Tonight, I talked to Teal'c. Or rather, Sam talked to Teal'c.

And then I came home and wrote 1500 words in a great explosion that has left my brain feeling a little... vacuumed. I haven't even got to the conversation yet, the one they had when I was driving home from work. The one that brought me up short in the produce isle picking up scallions.

I feel so... hijacked.

Wierd.

For the record, Teal'c could have totally started talking to me about the late reel_sg1 fic I have beta comments on. But he didn't. You just can't predict him sometimes.

Also, Sam is surprising me a little with her voice in this. It's apparently been a while since I wrote Sam POV. Why is that, again?

I haven't updated Area 52 or any other archive in ages. I think it's all current in my sidebar and tags and the archive post here, but I'm once again having that 'maybe I should get a webpage' kind of idea. I generally get over that when I realize I don't really have the slightest clue how to go about getting, building or maintaining a webpage. I know it's probably not that hard, it's just a high energy of activation.

Right... I have nothing of substance to say, just... you know. Okay, leaving now.

YAYYY for creative energy! I think it's in the air. I'm finally writing again too. :D

I think it has something to do with working really hard in the lab and coming home and needing to do anything not analytical or spacial or logical or mathy.

But I'm not complaining, it feels really good.

I love that picture of Rick.

*nods* I feel the same way. Most of what I do is governed by procedure, so it's very, very nice to be able to be creative.

That pic is guh worthy, isn't it? :D

I know this feeling, oh yes ...

And ooh, you're reading The Intuitionist!

Yes, I'm reading the Intuitionist, and it's as fabulous as I'd been led to believe.

(Which is good, because for all my best intentions, Imaro is... not my style.)

*nods* I have been shamelessly sticking to my comfort zone with my reading for [livejournal.com profile] 50books_poc. I mean, a book that is just not my thing is not going to suddenly become my thing just because it happens to be by an author of colour *g*.

Truthfully, though, a *lot* of sci fi writing falls into that category for me. I love spaceships and aliens and other planets on screen, but it's not nearly as shiny for me written.

Unless it's fanfic and I can picture it on screen, wierdly.

So the whole thing is an experiment for me, really. Whitehead, though... I'm going to be reading more of his stuff. A lot.

Fancy a chat maybe Thursday? Before the hullabaloo of Thanksgiving begins in earnest I may be able to snatch a bit of time to talk about this story that's taken over my braaaaaaaaaains.

P'raps? Are you up for an alpha/beta read on a Sam/Teal'c story?

Yay chat! Thursday's cool. I cannot guarantee useful beta thoughts, because my brain's still cranky and having difficulty focusing on anything other than the WIP Of Doom. But I'd be happy to take a look and see if I can come up with anything.

It just cannot be as hard as it seems, right?

Hope it works out for you. I'm still kind of hoping to ride one of my internetly friends programming coattails.

i'm using the iweb program that came with my macbook and finding it surprisingly fun, but the people i know who are true tech gurus (and i agree with this because of the tiny bit of learning it i've had to do) say that actually doing it in html is not that hard if you don't want a lot of fancy stuff there. there are tons of free programs and there's probably one already on your computer.... anyway. i had a lot of reluctance but now i'm having fun doing it. it was important to me to build and maintain the site myself, but you may not have that particular issue.

happy futzing! and most of all, happy writing.

actually doing it in html is not that hard

IIRC, there's a handy interactive tutorial for learning HTML here:

http://www.davesite.com/webstation/html/

I only know the basics, but it's a great way of learning it.

Ps. Teal'c is indeed that way. ;)

It's kind of nice.

I really do need to finish the reel_sg1 fic, though. It just has been such a battle getting it written that I'm happy resting a bit before tackling beta comments.

...plus, Teal'c just seems to find this one a bit more interesting. *g*

See, Teal'c is a being of great opinion. ;)

*smooch* Hope there's time for writing this weekend!
