minxy: Teal'c raises a hand to say "hey". (Default)

You know, the irony about this post title is that I don't really *get* the macros thing. I mean, it was funny the first few times, but now? Eh.

Then again, I am thoroughly established on the 'Bad American' list for not watching the Simpsons or drinking soda, so there you go. I am clearly a mutant.

Also? I just remembered that I left my apple cranberry fiber muffin from Trader Joes at home in the fridge. Dangit. Oh well.

RECS POST BEGINS NOW:

[livejournal.com profile] ana_grrl has a way with world building, that constantly gives you tactile reminders that you are in a foreign place, an alien landscape. Things have been lost, things are gained. And along the way, you get Teal'c's pragmatic and elegant interpretation of the Taur'i, right along side the ways they surprise him, at the end of the world. I also enjoyed the play of relationship in understanding and comfort, rather than the usual physical awareness-- because Teal'c is reserved, yes he is, and the way to get to him is through his mind. Grey Skies, Ashen Ground, for [livejournal.com profile] apocalypse_kree, Cameron/Teal'c, PG rated, SG-1.

While we're on apocafic: All the World Beneath, by [livejournal.com profile] seperis. Elegant, and I do mean ELEGANT action and horror in a fantastic ride. Supernatural and SGA, a crossover of win, and a fantastic outsider/insider perspective on SG teams. Dean is wonderfully broken and healing, the ending got me all choked up. Long, some mild slash, SGA/Supernatural, some Dean/John, R rated.

[livejournal.com profile] jenlev asked who the authors were who had written some form of Teal'c in a cathedral, so I thought I'd repost that they are:

[livejournal.com profile] surrealphantast, who wrote Godless, a lovely strange ritual of friendship between Sam and Teal'c: the ritual of Sunday mornings and the cult of bacon, and lovely. SG-1, gen, PG.

[livejournal.com profile] janedavitt, who wrote the very beautiful hurty Teal'c and Daniel friendship Stained Glass.

I suspect that [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic also wrote Cameron and Teal'c and church, but I think it was in the middle of a Five Things fic, and I can't find it at the moment. [ETA: but synecdochic knows where it is! Five Things Cam and Teal'c do Together on Earth Fantastic.]

I'm still hoping for Jack, and maybe Vala. Teal'c in a cathedral, folks. How is that not made of win? You know you want to write it for me.

Speaking of Teal'c (and lately, when am I not speaking of Teal'c?) [livejournal.com profile] paian had a fantastic Pentangular Gate entry in [livejournal.com profile] sg1_five_things: Five Things Teal'c Brought Back in Unending. Seriously, the fifth one killed me. And it would be great to see more five thingses going on over there--I have to admit that it is not a type of fic I'm good at, but I know y'all got skillz. Gen, Teal'c, spoilers for the finale, but worksafe.

Moving along, moving along....

[livejournal.com profile] synecdochic's Take These Broken Wings Verse stepped sideways to let JD speak. He hadn't really wanted to speak before, but once he decides to do something, man... This, if you hadn't seen it before, is a remarkably happy AU: clone!Jack called JD, with all his issues, and Cameron, only with potentially some significant permanent pain from his crash in the 302 once apon a time, and various other issues. Only the issues are compatible, like you wouldn't believe. Interlude, though I highly recommend reading in order. This one's worksafe, but the 'verse is slash. SG-1, AU, JD/Cameron.

I think I shall tell the story of this one: This is [livejournal.com profile] sg_fignewton writing for [livejournal.com profile] splash_the_cat, in thanks for running, maintaining and delegating [livejournal.com profile] sg1_debrief. Having been involved, it is indeed a hellalot of work, that newsletter, and I hope the gratitude is expressed often enough that Julie feels loved. In any case, [livejournal.com profile] sg_fignewton wrote this hilarious team story, Ninja Style, which Julie subtitled 'Teal'c pwns SG-1', so you know it's fun. Gen, team, G rated, worksafe.

[livejournal.com profile] cesperanza does the end of the world, but SGA style, and John and Rodney, so that pretty much means something went wrong on Atlantis, not Earth. It's such an interesting distinction. Scars, R or NC-17, not worksafe, John/Rodney, SGA.

[livejournal.com profile] tripoli8's A Waltz Through Empty Beds is kind of fascinating Jack/Daniel AU. It's, what, espionage? And Daniel making his own choices, as he does, and Jack sort of not choosing in reaction (only that is a choice as well.) Seriously, very interesting. Worksafe, Jack/Daniel, PG or PG-13, SG-1 AU.

She also posted this (it was WIP amnesty in Tripoli's world), which is Moebius 'Verse, and breaky. Tangleday, gen, PG, also, how Daniel was left behind. Worksafe.

There is nothing but win in this one, so I shall end with it: Striptease, by [livejournal.com profile] ivorygates. Striptease, people, and Cameron. That is all you need to know. Go read it. Only, um, probably not at work, though there are no mentions of naughty bits, it's still all about dancing with greater nakedness on a bar in front of people and aliens. So. SG-1, Cameron, gen and R rated, I suppose.

Go! Read! *shoos you off*

Hee.

I do think that the world could always use more 'we love Julie' fic, though, just on principle.
