Did I mention that my remix will have a DVD extras disc? At least one missing scene will be made available sometime after the due date. Until then, I've got characters commandeering the microphone and refusing to get to the point.

Tonight, though, I am sun-tired, bone-tired and warm and clean with a dog curled up on my lap and a beer on the table. I just can't manage to take the notes I have and turn them into a scene, or take the ideas I have and finish the story (after making a couple of key decisions about POV in the last section.) This is despite having some time to chat and consider such things tomorrow. I'll just have to finish tomorrow and find a little time to work with my betas some other time. (We'll just ignore the fact that I have to be in San Diego next weekend.)

So instead, I give you... a recs list. You're shocked. I can tell.

[livejournal.com profile] medie wrote a great first kiss for Cameron and Teal'c called Out Behind the Gate, in which Teal'c is wry and funny and Cameron gets played. Mmmm, I love that. PG-13, slash.

[livejournal.com profile] troyswann is writing to prompts while bouncing off the walls (of her head), and I love the ethereal, odd and lyrical Vala she wrote me. And in typical Sal fashion, she's written an OC that I very much want to have dinner with and get to know. Femslash, almost. R rated.

Sal has also been writing variations on an inspirational poem (and it really is a doozy, listed at the beginning of the story), and this one, set in SG-1's Tin Man episode, is aching and gorgeous. Five Variations on an Inspiration #2: tin!Jack, team, AU, gen.

A little Jack/Daniel from [livejournal.com profile] princessofg is always happymaking, and this one has the psychologically complex feelings of abandonment and anger from Jack after Daniel's descension that pinged rather nicely for me. I Was Born to Love You, and I Will Never Be Free. NC-17.

I recc'd this in a general sort of way when I posted my fic yesterday, but I'll repost here in case you're actively avoiding fanfic from me [/woody allen paranoia]. Maybe you're avoiding finalefic until the finale actually airs? If so, you should avoid this one too, but once you've seen the ep, go read [livejournal.com profile] rowan_d's Signal Fire. Lovely Sam and Teal'c (PG-13), and I hope we aren't the only ones to write them (though I added a side dish of threesome, and Rowan does a brilliant acknowledgement of other loves.)

OH. This is very funny. [livejournal.com profile] raisintorte's inauguration of sorts for John and Rodney, in an Aliens Want To Hear Them Do It mission with Sam and Daniel. Daniel in particular had me giggling. Red Light on a Wedding Night, there are references to lots of intrateam nookie, but this fic is gen. And funny. Possibly not worksafe, however.

Once apon a time (yes, it's going to be one of those recs) there was a girl who moved cities and went through this phase of occasionally reading, but not commenting or reccing her cyberpal's work. I have shame. But now, I have a rec! YES! [livejournal.com profile] abyssinia4077 wrote an incredible ethereal (have I already used that word in this post?) Sam/Daniel story about lives lived and then separated. Thank goodness for the strength of connection that lets them come together. R rated. Preserve Your Memories (They're All That's Left You).

Finally, and with a side-step into SGA, Martha Wilson has a marvelous John and Rodney (and Teyla and Wier and Ford) story called Refraction that is absolutely worth a look. It's a quantum mirror fic, but the alternate reality has amazing differences, evils and sympathies. Refraction, gen, worksafe, though there are references to non-con.

That's it! Go read something while I recoup and ponder my remix. WHY couldn't it just quitely have ended when the first draft thought it ended? HUH???

I love when fics have deleted scenes/DVD extras/outtakes! They are often the best thing since, um, unsliced bread. I hope your remix behaves and YAY FOR DOGGIES!

One more week and I will have seen "Unending" and can read all the fic written about it. They are sitting in my "to read" folder taunting me. (I think [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper wrote an "Unending" tag of sorts that involved Sam/Teal'c if you're curious - but I can't vouch since it is in that "to read" folder)

Yes, Red Light on a Wedding Night was one of the funniest things ever and Daniel was possibly the best. *snuggles Daniel*

Thank you for the rec :) Your rec posts always make me happy, but actually getting on them? It's a little exciting.

Your "Refraction" rec totally takes me back - I read her other quantum mirror story ("Deflection") back when I was just starting to watch SGA and hadn't seen SG-1 and I was so confused having no idea what a quantum mirror was or what Jaffa were or anything. And so drawn in anyway.

And I'll stop babbling at you now. Good luck on the remix and have lots of fun in San Diego!

Ooooh! Found friendshipper's fic and have bookmarked for future reading. Sadly, though, it is 9:30 and I can't stay up another minute. Well, not to do anything focused, that is.

I'm so glad you get a thrill out of being recced. I do too, and this week I had one story get enough comments to fold into a second *page*, which has never happened before, and pleases me no end. So I am happier than I can say to make other fan's days.

Refraction, man, was just clever writing. Red Light was funny as *shit* and yours deserved attention at the time as well (sorry. again.)

But yes, I think anyone here has already heard quite enough of what I think about these grand stories, so I'll shut up now and go to sleep.

ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I've had it bookmarked for a month now, you can certainly be okay not having read it last night :) (she also writes really fantastic John & Rodney friendship adventure stories and shorter Atlantis stories - mostly, she rocks Atlantis Gen)

Yay second page! You win! Was it "Footsoldiers" or something else? (I think I might be trying to make sure everyone in fandom has read "footsoldiers" - I can't seem to stop fangirling you about that story).

Red Light was funny as *shit* - I'm so glad someone pointed it out because it's one of those fics I wouldn't want to ever, ever, ever miss. (you know you have no obligation to read or rec any of my fic, no need to apologize, really)

Hope sleep went well and Sunday proves productive and restful :)

Hey, thanks for the rec! :) I think Refraction was the first SGA fanfiction that I ever posted, and I'm still really fond of it.

Good luck with your remix! I've come to the conclusion that I couldn't do a remix to save my life, so I'm sort of in awe of people who can.

Argh. Are you pimping me a new writer friend? I was trying to cut *down* on my flist! *is doomed*

It wasn't Footsoldiers, actually, though I love that story so much. Nope! It was Campfirelight, Campfire Stories, which I wrote on a whim from my own silly prompts for the Teal'c Ficathon last year, which is totally gen, and was before I really knew Cameron all that well. Sometimes your little fics surprise you with which are received loudly and which fly under the radar.

(Thank you for pimping Footsoldiers, though. I love that you love it like I do.) I actually don't feel obligation to rec, though I've occasionally gotten a sense of entitlement from online people ('oh, I wondered when you were going to see that!' sort of thing) even if you're a bud. Nope, I feel like a dork if I don't leave feedback or rec and I really got some enjoyment out of reading. I think commenting on a story you enjoyed is somewhat of a responsibility as a reader, particularly if you want to encourage that kind of story. I've been known to allow a rec to stand in place of feedback, but it's rare. Commenting is step one, in my mind. Reccing does not necessarily follow.

But your story was amazing, so, I felt doubly dorky for not letting you know in any way how much I enjoyed reading it. But now I have! Guilt assuaged!

Sunday has been nice so far. Woke up still full of heavy sleep, but pretty well rested. A morning workout stretched the last of the muscle soreness out from the race yesterday, and now I'm home, clean in a tidy house and waiting for a potential new housemate to come over for an interview. She's five minutes late by my watch, but I won't hold it against her until she's 15 minutes late. That's the rule, right?

Hmmm, maybe I'll eat something more. Mmmmmm, food.

You're so welcome! That was your first SGA fanfiction? Wow, how elegant. I wonder how I came across it-- probably another person's rec. They tend to go around in circles when someone recs an older story. Refraction is very clever and well executed, though. Very nicely done.

I really enjoy remixes when I see them well done. It's like someone else is playing in the same sandbox, and the different variations are fascinating. Like having multiple people write for the same show, really, but with a few additional restrictions. And freedoms. I angsted about the first one I wrote a lot more than this: this one I'm just telling the story that occured to me after I read the original. It's not strictly speaking a remix in the most restrictive sense, but I am enjoying the process more. I'm hoping to see some amazing pairs of stories in this one, though, since it's Gateverse only and I know and love so many of the authors in it.

(apologies for the chattiness--am awaiting a knock on the door and killing time. Hee! Thank goodness for LJ.)

No problem, love of my first-time fanfiction life. I'm always willing to surf other people's angst for my own purposes. *G*

Argh. Are you pimping me a new writer friend? I was trying to cut *down* on my flist! *is doomed*

maybe :) She's one of my favorite SGA authors and one of the first ones I discovered. Her adventure stories are just fantastic with brilliant, intricate plots, wonderful characterization and occasional great original characters. I *love* her tag to "Sunday" and some of her long stuff (especially "Candle in the Dark" and "Running on Empty" (OMG SO GOOD))but I also love her shorter stuff. Definitely worth poking at when you're looking for a long, satisfying John & Rodney adventure.

I need to poke through your fic list more...I've read so little of what you've posted (some of it because when I first looked it, it applied to episodes I hadn't seen yet). Who am I kidding, I just have way too large of a "to read" list.

oh, I wondered when you were going to see that!' sort of thing
Yeah. I've had once or twice where I posted a story I thought someone might like and sometime it looks like they didn't see it and...part of you wants to point them to it in case, but you don't want to look like you're begging, if that makes sense? It's not so much "please give me feedback" as "I think you might like this and you might have missed it"
But, yep on what you said. I try hard to comment on any story I enjoyed - though sometimes I'm less likely if it's a really old story.

15 minutes was supposed rule for when you could leave the classroom if a teacher was late. Dunno about potential housemates. :) Food sounds like a good plan though - hope you achieved it and the rest of Sunday treats you well!

Thanks! :)

this one I'm just telling the story that occured to me after I read the original.

Now that makes a lot more sense to me than just re-telling the original story in a different way.

Hi there! You don't know me, but we have a mutual friend ([livejournal.com profile] shusu) and we thought you might be interested to know that there is a John/Vala Thing-a-Thon taking place at [livejournal.com profile] lonelytartsclub. Come take a look see, there just might be something of interest for you over there.

Have a wonderful week, either way your interest swings on this! (and thanks for taking the time to read it too)
