So, y'all know I'm in the middle of a big transition, right? And that, obviously, once I start posting memes it means I haven't got the time to be writing or reccing, right?

So listen, I'm sorry. It's not you, it's me and I can't keep up with my flist. So if I rarely comment on your LJ, or if you have a fic journal, or if I can't remember the last time we talked, I... might have to or might have temporarily trimmed you from the flist. Filters have not been terribly useful to me in the past, so it's all very of the moment. Lots of comms are off the watch list for the moment.

Which is all to say, every day is friending amnesty day here in Minxes World, and while I don't know how well I'll be keeping up in the next few weeks, I do have a few recs to post today. Let's try for some semblance of organized, shall we?

Fandom: Supernatural (no, I don't love it more than any other, it was just the first on the list, sheesh.)

Verbal by [livejournal.com profile] big_pink, lovely little curse with a twist from an incredibly skillfull author. The resolution was amazing, I thought; felt like a high mesa cliff. SPN, gen, PG-13.

This one got me with at least three different weapons: [livejournal.com profile] destina's The Wonder of Each Hour is contacts. Five contacts that Dean has collected over the years. And. Yes. Gen, SPN, Dean.

[livejournal.com profile] cofax7's answer to shaky knowledge of San Francisco in Heart is to give us a beat cop, smart and competent, sussing out the chaos in the wake of the Winchesters. She's wonderful, it's heartbreaking when the obsessive Feds step all over her good intentions. Working Theory. I like the structure of it too, though I may have drooled when her burger got cold. SPN, gen, PG.

In the fun crossover section, [livejournal.com profile] vaznetti's fantastic Supernatural cross with Sandman. Because the living aren't the only ones to find themselves a bit lost when the Winchesters skip town. The recovery of a sick man, a kindness remembered, and a promise kept, in her own way: The Face of the Crocodile. SPN/Sandman, Death and Mary, Death and John, gen, PG (both).

And in one of the more amazing, sexiest, gorgeously dark, non-vanilla fics I've seen, I give you: Spider Bites On All Your Lovers, which is Dean dealing with the Crossroads Demon, whether he realizes it or not. And demons are not vanilla, as the warning goes, but they tell a gorgeously dark story. By melambrosia ([livejournal.com profile] untrue_accounts), Dean/Crossroads Demon (het), NC-17, toys and kink, SPN, spoils for Born Under a Bad Sign as well as Crossroads.

SG-1:

This Is The Way to Grandmother's House by [livejournal.com profile] thassalia is reunion between friends with history, who's lives have changed and who have to work up to the intimacy of admitting the relief of reunion, if temporary. I love Cameron and Vala in Thea's hands; it's swirly and rich and wonderful. Cameron and Vala, future fic, SG-1, PG.

Witness, if you will, a wonderful gen moment set sometime in S10: It's untitled, so I'll call it Any Given Friday. Just 'cause. A boy and a girl and a dog and an early morning with company. gen, G, SG-1, Cam and Vala.

you can buy her things now but she'll never be bought is from [livejournal.com profile] minervacat and part of the Valentine 'verse, and I could very well have recc'd this before but folks, this is One Sexy Story. Daniel/Vala, NC-17, SG-1.

The reason I revisited that one is because minervacat recently posted the prequel Sam and Daniel fic Must Have Learned Them From A Million Stars, friendshippy and WONDERFUL SAM and in the same 'verse. It was interesting to read them in chronological order, if not in posting order, because the echoes of the conversation with Sam were felt throughout You Can Buy Her Things Now. It's probably the other way around, but it was damn skillful. PG, SG-1, Daniel and Sam.

Jack/Daniel from [livejournal.com profile] raqs (there is no bad here, yay!) which I shall randomly title Holiday, or Old Married Love or Yes, Old Married Love Can Totally Be a Kink, What? Or something. (Is it really A Holiday of the Oldskool Sort, Raqs? Because I'm just stumbling over unorthodox spelling used in a Serious Title. Maybe it's just me.) NC-17, Jack/Daniel, SG-1.

More Jack/Daniel (YAY, seriously) from paian, who continues to archive and organize and hand me stories I missed on a platter. This is S5, and funny, and so, so typical. you can fall for chains of gold

In a great Jack set of Five Things, Sal ([livejournal.com profile] troyswann) gives us Five things Jack O'Neill never told Cameron Mitchell (because some things you have to learn on your own) for [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong, and seriously pitch perfect Jack. Gen, SG-1.

Farscape:

[livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie wrote a heartbreaking and heartmending story of going home, of Jack and John and Aeryn and D'Argo and meeting between three generations of Crightons. Loved Aeryn's awareness of her vulnerability, and since I'm knee deep in S3, it's really striking to me how she reacts to it. Back to Say Hello, Goodbye Gen (canon pairing), post-PKW, Farscape.

SGA:

Intersections, by Kaneko Damn, I marked this with an extra reccing exclamation point and now I am not remembering why just from the title. Drat. Let's go look it up: OH. THAT ONE. Yes, this is an awesome fic. It has a couple of key bullet points that I thought were masterfully done. One was that John and Rodney in this do a hell of a lot of Not Talking, which is so blazingly in character, but Kaneko tells vignettes of their past that coalesce just grandly as the story goes on until their joking about having nothing in common begins to break your heart as a reader. It's worth the extra exclamation points. SGA, pre-series through pilot, Sheppard/McKay, NC-17.

So then there's [livejournal.com profile] alyse's poly Equilibrium, which was pretty great story with kink with poly with guh. I loved the everyday feel of Teyla tolerating the undignified request, then the undignified reaction, then how she segues so easily into every other aspect of her life, from missing Ford to learning Ronon to John and Rodney. Teyla was wonderfully zen and Teyla and wise as all hell, even as she's learning and reassessing her relationships. Teyla/John/Rodney, poly & toys, NC-17, SGA.

The only way to chase that one is with crackfic, obviously. When John Met Rodney by [livejournal.com profile] bethynyc, has SGA's trademark het with slash with animals with AU with crack. This fandom does it like no other, seriously. PG rated, because crazy doesn't get an X rating around here.

And today is clearly the day for lovin' on [livejournal.com profile] minervacat, because I also have a rec for her The Towers On The Heights Reach To Heav'n's Own Blue, which is Cameron and John having a completely immature email catfight about sports that is marvelous on many levels. This is gen, and stands alone, but I think is also a prequel to the wonderful John/Cameron go to the world series with all of SG-1 in toe story which I'll need to track down the actual title for.

Only, I'm kind of done now. I'll find the other story tomorrow, 'kay? Kay. [livejournal.com profile] linnet_101 ftw! The story is Steal The Thunder From The Sky, which reminds me of a story [livejournal.com profile] alizarin_nyc wrote when she was playing in this sandbox. It's Everything Up To, and Including, and both of those are Sheppard/Mitchell and NC-17.

Now, seriously, go read something.
