It's always interesting to post a recs post after being away. You guys always keep on with the keepin' on and to post after having missed so much feels like I'm still missing so much.

But we must start somewhere, no?

So we start here: [livejournal.com profile] ladyjax tapped into a fantastic Teyla in an apocafic of sorts There's No Such Place as Home, and I loved her definition of family. Gen, PG-13.

Girls' Night Out from [livejournal.com profile] bluefall in the [livejournal.com profile] girlgate comm is a fantastic bit of downtime with Sam, Vala, Elizabeth and Teyla. The complexities of the relationships marry very nicely with Teyla's first impressions of Earth. Gen, friendshippy and PG rated.

The lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] dirty_diana wrote a threesome piece for me in [livejournal.com profile] 3_ships this year, and it's only extreme laziness that I haven't told you about it before. Five by Five is a really impressive dance between Cam, Daniel and Sam. Partly the aha moment and partly just developing intimacy and getting to know each other. Lovely deliniated relationships. PG.

ETA: alert reader rydra_wong informs me that there is a sequel to the aha moment in which they get a-sexin'. It's Daniel POV with an extraordinary emotional arc, and Vala is a grand presence too. Fractional by [livejournal.com profile] dirty_diana, NC-17, Cam/Daniel/Sam.

A late arrival in the [livejournal.com profile] darkgate ficathon and a first time Stargate writer, [livejournal.com profile] annowre brings an impressive darkside story for SG-1. The sensory details and the creepy association and dissociation from surroundings are amazing. Feed the new author, pls. in this galaxy we left footprints on the moon, NC-17.

Possibly the best John Sheppard voice I've read, complete with pre-slash to first time relationship freakout, and it's awesome catharsis. Like This, by Aria at [livejournal.com profile] ariafic, PG, John/Rodney.

And while we're at it: really darned good Rodney voice. All Non-White Things Aren't Swans by [livejournal.com profile] mazily. John/Rodney, mild R. The amusing anecdotes slay me.

[livejournal.com profile] paian posted... somewhere, Teal'c's Five Favorite Boardgames, and then she was kind enough to repost it to [livejournal.com profile] tealc_fic where I could finish reading it. Five different games, thoughts, times and relationships, and it's just marbleized goodness. The conversation with Daniel kills me.

[livejournal.com profile] sg_fignewton wrote a lovely found and lost Daniel, with an impressively strong Sha're and a really nice set of environments. His philosophy kills me, though, even as he works to set things "right". The Importance of Past and Future, canon het, PG.

Stuff wot ana_grrl did on my winter vacation: Five Ways Cam and Teal'c Told the Rest of the Team They Were Moving In Together. (Cam/Teal'c, PG-13), Five Ways Simon Tam Left Serenity (and then Came Back). (PG.)

A very nice, most believable Sam/Teal'c's: Emotional Desperation by [livejournal.com profile] rolleson, (new Teal'c author, please feed). PG-13 or mild R.

While we're on sexy Sam, let's take a foray into Incredibly Messed-Up sexy Sam, shall we?

[livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong wrote the rarest of pairings as a pinch hit for the [livejournal.com profile] sg_rarepairings ficathon. And, wow, yes, this could also be filed under 'dark' and possibly 'brilliant writing' (the similes, OMG) and certainly 'very strong Sam voice' for all she's taking her to a very strange, hitherfore unwritten, place. Under Every Green Tree, (SG-1, NC-17)

(Just to recover a little bit) [livejournal.com profile] splash_the_cat once wrote some 5 Things on request, and for me, she wrote the incredible Five Resolutions Sam Carter Broke, and it's an incredible glimpse into a complex woman. I can't remember if I've told you about that one before or not. OLD AGE! It comes upon me!

Lastly, your smuttly unity for the day: Destina posted a WIP from her harddrive, written lo these many fandoms ago, which, because it is [livejournal.com profile] destina, is pretty durned incredible for all it's unpolishedness. And Daniel must be Daniel, it's just how it is; what's heartbreaking is that Jack can only keep up through so many transitions. The Waters of Lethe, Jack/Daniel, R rated, spoilers for Abyss and Fallen, AU.

MORE Jack/Daniel! Yaaaaaaay! [livejournal.com profile] theemdash in [livejournal.com profile] what_works, wrote The End, which is a marvelously matter of fact and entertaining discussion circa S9 or S10. Mild-R.

Okay folks, I'm beat. The rest will wait for another post. If you can't wait that long, may I suggest you take a gander at [livejournal.com profile] paian or [livejournal.com profile] thepouncer's LJs for SG-1 and Atlantis fic recs, respectively?
