Because RL and fandom lines sometimes blur: met [livejournal.com profile] kres again, and this time we actually spent enough time together to stop discussing the U.S., theater, books and cooking etc, to actually get around to the odd fannish discussion. And Jensen Ackles is less than a year younger than I am, which makes me feel a great deal better about lusting after the dude just a little bit (I mean, he is awfully pretty).

In other news.

[livejournal.com profile] minervacat, who has just been impressing my socks off lately, has also written a really nice Harry Potter fic that is backstory for Remus and Sirius (and James and Lily) after graduation, before things went to hell. I adore Sirius/Remus backstory more than any other pairing in this fandom, and in this case, Sirius is particularly adorable in his puppiness, and Remus is being a worrywart and blindsided. It's just lovely. There is a Boy Who Never Goes Out, PG-13.

[livejournal.com profile] cjandre wrote a first time bdsm for John and Rodney, then followed it up with a nice awkwardness and coming to an understanding. Something New, which follows Something to Remind You. Both bdsm and NC-17.

I must admit that I was not really aware that there were people out there writing Dark Angel, but it's helping me remember what I really liked about the series--and forget where it fell down on the job. [livejournal.com profile] elishavah brings it all back to the best of the show. This is season two, and really nice Alec with a wonderfully loyal and sweet Original Cindy. And Max sleeping like a cat. Wake Up Call, set during Hello, Goodbye, gen.

Two ficlets:

[livejournal.com profile] paian wrote a Jack/Daniel piece where they hurt and they take care of each other and reach that tentative truce where Daniel gets to be right... but it's a long, slow hurt in S8, before Jack leaves, and I love/hate knowing what's coming. You Can Fall for Chains of Silver, NC-17, a too late to make the porn battle ficlet. Dog tags and senses and whiskey and fire and love.

[And you all need to go read her [livejournal.com profile] dark_gate fic Palimpsest too, just in case you haven't yet. It's glorious and awesome and gen and hurty and glorious.]

[livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie wrote a late Season 2 Farscape interlude: half-asleep and a moment where they realize they're on the same page, even though they still don't think they are most of the time. Aeryn/John, comfort in the denial, feels like canon. R, This Shared Discontent.

Five things from [livejournal.com profile] splash_the_cat: Five Resolutions Sam Carter Broke (for me yay!). Gen, and annoyingly similar to resolutions I've broken.

[livejournal.com profile] nialla42 has been writing snarky Breadbox Editions for favorite early episodes from Stargate (like Mystery Science Theater, if you're new to the series) and has just posted Absolute Power: The Breadbox Edition.

[livejournal.com profile] kellifer_fic posted a happy-sad little amnesia ficlet about Daniel and Vala, and who they would be if they forgot who they were. Sam's reactions are aching, Vala's wit is sweet and funny. Loss, PG.

I am reading: Superman Never Dealt With This Shit, by [livejournal.com profile] amireal, John/Rodney, NC-17.

And now? NOW? Now to choose between two wonderfully flist enabled television watching adventures-- Rome or Supernatural? Supernatural or Rome? How do I chooooooooooose?

I found out that Jensen Ackles is only 21 days older than me. *is excited*

Also, kinda cool, Jared Padalecki is 26 days younger than my brother.

If I haven't already told you, I love your recs!!

Well, if you're looking for a show with an active fandom, Rome isn't it. It's only just starting to pick up momentum. At least this year I won't be posting about it into a void, I suppose; that's a good thing. But oh, god, I love it so, so much. It's a fabulous show on every level. Supernatural, on the other hand, is my Thing right now. As anyone reading my LJ knows, heh. And I love it passionately because of the emotional porn that's emo-ing all over my TV every week, satisfying me on numerous levels, and there's a huge fandom surrounding it, and lots of people you know. But they are such different shows.

Decisions, decisions. *g*

Well thank you for the rec (though the title of the story is This Shared Discontent). ;p

I vote Supernatural.

Oh, oh, oh! I know, I know! ::jumps up and down in her seat, waving excitedly::

I mean, c'mon, who can resist this? ::points at icon::

Plus, way more canon to play with, and much shorter hiatuses.

I watched the pilot when it first aired, and I actually said to my Dad 'I don't think I can watch a show if I feel like I'm robbing the cradle appreciating the leads' and it turns out I'm not robbing the cradle! Go me!

(and aw, thanks! love the appreciation)

*hand flaps* But you see, I'm confused here! Because normally pretty is not really my thing, so wherefor cometh the lust? I ask you!

Well, I'm only a few episodes behind in Rome, so it would be less work to catch up, but I watched Supernatural just last night with Kres, so I have it on the brain... and then the Farscape discs are due to arrive any day in the mail! And I only have the T.V. to myself until Thursday and then I'll have to SHARE!

*collapses in a melodramatic heap*

I did watch a terribly emo!Dean episode last night with kres. I think she did it on purpose. I kept saying 'why is Dean bad with kids if he helped *raise* Sam?' and she was all 'shaddup and watch the boys and if you're good I'll show you the one where Dean is afraid to fly.'

I feel so conflicted.

Well, Dean claims he's bad with kids. But if you watch Dead in the Water, he's actually really good with them. He's just bad with everyone else. Except pretty waitresses, and Sam.

I cannot solve your scheduling dilemma, but if and when you come to SF, I'm happy to share either SPN or watch Farscape with you.

Hee! You're bouncing! Have you been eating sugar?

All these pretty DVDs everywhere. What I really want is to watch the gag reel, but kres says I musn't until I've actually seen the episodes. *sighs*

Yeah, he's a guy I can lust over without feeling really weird about age difference. And, I'm lusting over him big time....just look at my new layout!!

Supernatural has taken over my brain! So, that's my vote!! :-D

Because Dean Winchester is hot like a thousand burning suns. Especially if there are knives, guns, cars, rope, or blood in the picture. Or the leather jacket. Plus, freckles. And talent. And angst!

Did you see him in Dark Angel the first season? His first role was as Ben, which was incredibly dark and creepy and crazy. It was pretty awesome.

Fortunately , I'm not into Supernatural and don't have to worry about lusting after youngsters. :o) Not that I'd lust after JA anyway because after all, I used to watch him on 'Days' when he was Eric and I didn't lust after him then. (He IS young enough to be my child!) However, I do understand the allure of the occasional pretty (and younger) man. It happens to the best of us. *snicker!* The very pretty man in my icon is 10 years younger than I am, but I'd still do him to the floor in a NY minute. ;o) In the end, I say let the mind play as it will. Have fun with your fantasies. Just don't go stalking them or hanging out at the stage door after their plays or stuff like that. What? *looks totally innocent*

I think I watched about two episodes of DA. Was annoyed by Cameron's insistence that it wasn't science fiction. Despite [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre's squeeing, I have not felt the lack.
