threnodyjones entitled Came a Traveler. Seriously, seriously good stuff here. The structure of the piece is one of those that allows the reveal late, just as you're learning what the mathmatics at the section headings mean, which is awesome and very well done. Through it all, though, is an undercurrent of emotion and intimacy paralleling John's increasing honesty, and it just makes the fic that much more. John's voice and disjointed emotional distance in the POV are quite awesome, especially as he heals and almost breaks your heart in the process. Great story. R rated at most, John/Rodney, worksafe.
