Nov. 29th, 2006 03:47 pmThanks to
thefourthvine, I just found a series of posts by
isiscolo about reccing, the kinds of recs that are the most effective and how to make your (my) livejournal recs EVEN MORE EXCITING.
Actually, it's pretty much just organization, but every once in a while I note that I've gathered a little following of lurkers here (I assume, feel free to speak up lurker people!) for to watch the recs. Or possibly to read my stories, but I actually think most of you are here for the recs.
So I shall detail the many and varied ways this journal is now Extra User Friendly, for the rec searcher:
1. There are lots of recs here. Recent view will tell you what I've read and liked and recc'd lately.
2. In the sidebar of my layout (I realize you might be holding to your style on other people's pages, so you would have to see my layout to take advantage of this) are a number of links of reccing goodness. They are conveniently located under the fanfic links and are organized by character or genre or fandom or season or whatever. There is some crossreferencing there, but sometimes I figure if it's on one list that's good enough. Depends on my mood on the day, and I should mention that these are updated whenever I manage it, but usually several months go by. Current recs are always the ones in recent LJ posts.
There are currently archive recs posts (not collections, these are recommended reading) in the following categories; all SG-1 unless noted.
Season 1 SG-1
Gen Fic
Humor
Unusual pairings
Poly (OT3/OT4)
Jack/Daniel
Sam (presently including Sam/Jack but not Sam/Daniel, as Sam/Jack can't seem to commit to moving into their own list together, but Sam and Daniel managed it a while ago.)
Sam/Daniel
Teal'c
Cameron
Janet
Multifandom Crossovers
Stargate: Atlantis
Farscape
Firefly
Multifandom Kinkfic
So you ought to be able to find something to read.
3. Now, this is the brand spanking new part: in my user info/profile thingy-whatsit now, you will find all of these links as well as the link to the archive post for fanfic. So now, you, gentle reader, can find whatever it is you're looking for! *beams*
4. There is no four, because I actually don't tag very specifically, so four is a negative organizational thing. I do, however, tag every post that has recs in it at all, so if I go off on a RL chatting spree and you're all 'omg Minx, STOP ALREADY WITH TEH DRAMA' you can click the link for fanfic recs and you're good to go.
Now, why, you may ask, am I coding links redundantly when I could and should be writing my
dark_gate story? Because the very nice mods have extended the deadline, that's why! I have a reprieve! Which is good, because it hurts to write them dark and angsty and my writing mojo ran off to Bermuda with
synecdochic's writing mojo. We think. They didn't leave a note or a number where they could be reached or anything.
I should still be slogging through the angsty. I should.
But deadline extension = love. Love the
dark_gate mods! *smootches*
