[livejournal.com profile] telesilla gives the rules of the meme like this:

I will, in fact, tell you what your favorite shows are about, based solely on what I have gathered from my flist. My contribution to the meme is to do them all in run on sentances. Also, I'm being snarky, but don't take it personally, pliz. Tell me if I left your fandom out, but remember it must be a fandom I've never followed.

My contribution is that I took a list of fandoms that [livejournal.com profile] viciouswishes posted as possibly holiday fic fandoms and wrote for each one that I never followed. And then I wrote Andromeda too.

Andromeda: Hercules in space, more or less making the same faces. People around him change color, or sometimes show up in three places at once, like the woman who married Michael Shanks. There was a really attractive man named Tyr, but he had to be really, really angry and so went away. There was also Rhade, and when Rhade was good he was good, but when he was scruffy, he was better. Yum. There was a blonde too, who was pretty cool, and the kid from Buffy, who kept plugging things into his neck for some reason.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (for [livejournal.com profile] lyrstzha) You may recognize Buffy from a movie on a similar topic, but this Buffy has much bigger eyes and stock in Maybelline. She surrounds herself with fearless woobies and for some reason intermittently doesn’t get along with Cordelia and Faith, which is funny, because I think Cordelia and Faith are hilarious. Sometimes she's an only child and sometimes she has a sister. Also Angel does tai chi.

Angel the Series. This was the guy who got his own show because he did tai chi, perfectly oiled, for hours, all while recuperating from inexplicably returning from hell, just because he thought Buffy might show up. And she did, and that’s why he got his own show. He takes his shirt off a lot and has issues with his inner demons. Also Cordelia is there, and someone named Gunn, which seems odd for a show that requires wooden stakes through the heart to kill the bad guys, but maybe Joss was being witty.

Battlestar Gallactica: This is the story of Starbuck, a very cool chick who smokes cigars, gets in bar fights, flies a ship like she’s making love to her and grows her hair a little longer every year. Because apparently, after the apocalypse, there are no scissors. Also there is no smiling.

The Sentinel. The story of a very sensitive cop and the academic who loved him (and refused to cut his hair.) I think they moved in together and the producers were worried that they’d lose that magic chemistry if they let them actually snog or something and so tried very hard never to mention it again, but the slash fans knew, yes they did.

due South. This was the story of a Mountie and the Rays who loved him. I think Ray might have actually cloned himself so there might be two Rays to love the Mountie, which was convenient because I think they had to tag team there when one of them just got exhausted and had to call in a sub. Also, the Mountie has a deaf dog. I have no idea what that has to do with the high rate of Ray turnovers, though.

Grey's Anatomy. This is a show that should be about Sandra Oh, who is quite awesome, but keeps getting interrupted by this cast of other people who I think are doctors but I’m confused because they seem to be all sleeping together and I can’t figure out why they are living and working and sleeping together because some of them are really whiney.

Heroes. There’s a guy named Hiro in this who draws comic books about himself. There are also some blonde women who are kind of annoying, and other people. They all have superpowers they stole from the X-men, I think, but as far as I know they don’t actually try to make the world safe for democracy, but I could be wrong.

House. This is the one where the too-snarky-to-be-loved doctor is loved by the floppy-haired-and-deceptively-lazy-looking head of another department. Or was that Atlantis? Or, wait. I think they moved in together at some point, and the whole ‘I work for the US military’ thing probably means this wasn’t Atlantis-but-not-scifi. But there was a woman boss who could be written so much cooler. There’s also someone named Foreman who tells it like it is, but he actually is too snarky to be loved, or he’s too black to be loved. Not sure which. He should watch out lest he become an intergalactic junkie.

Star Trek: Deep Space 9. This is the Star Trek that’s like The Next Generation, except the captain isn’t a bald British man, he’s a bald brown skinned man, and when he smiles he’s lights up the room. Strangely, this was not enough to get me to watch the show, due to the strange inability of their ship to actually go anywhere, and the fact that the Worf character was played by Benson. But then Worf showed up, so I don’t know what my problem was.

Star Trek: Voyager: This is the one where the captain was a woman, but they balanced out that little act of bra-burning with a sexy alien who had really invested in the Wonderbra company and didn’t even merit a name beyond a number, as far as I could tell. Although they do get points for picking a really cool number.

If you want to do this meme, you might also consider sending up the fine fine shows of: Alias, Firefly, Harry Potter, Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, Farscape and Dr. Who, but those are the ones I actually know.

lol! So true!

The only one on your list that I don't know is Alias, so here goes:

Alias: This is the one where Electra learned how to kick-box and blow stuff up, while wearing lots of different wigs. The combinatorics of who is double-crossing whom are mind-boggling since she works for sixteen different organizations at the same time, and the curse of dimensionality starts kicking in after about four. Her Schroedinger's Spy family exist as an indeterminant wave function that encompasses both alive and dead, depending upon observation and the whim of a field of butterflies in Japan. There is also her dad the Famous Character Actor I Recognize but Can Never Figure Out From Where, and some guy named Vaughn.

Ha! How much do I love it when other people go math geek with me? Thiiiiis much!

You know in Alias, there was also the only other guy I remember from Heroes who plays Matt the cop, only in Alias he was Weiss the cop. Also in Alias? Gina Torres of Firefly, who played a Spanish/Russian bad guy and KICKED BUTT, but due to scheduling conflicts, she was only in the early seasons and in season 5.

Famous Character Actor I Recognize but Can Never Figure Out From Where Victor Gaaaaaarber, star of stage and currently of a perfectly wretched t.v. show called Justice. Blech.

Sandra Oh is awesome. Yes.

It's funny how I can recognise that other's write ups are funny, but the shows that I know or the shows I love are the ones where I really adore reading other people's takes on it.

I have girlfriends who are trying So Hard to pimp me into Grey's Anatomy. We have invitations, pizza night, good company, specifically the season opener and they prepped me on backstory and everything... and I was sitting there holding my tongue because seriously. More Sandra Oh, less of this fighting for the whiney girl. And doctors would never do that, omg! When do they work?

It's like ER. I couldn't watch ER. All the 'move it! Move it! Come ON, people!' stuff? WTF? Like a paramedic wouldn't move quickly?

... it's possible that my opinions about this are unnecessarily vehement.

I need a Sandra Oh icon.

WHEEEEEE! The Sentinel (which I've seen eps of) and House (which I've not) were especially funny!!!

Lessee, I've never watched...

Farscape: John is a military pilot who gets lost in space (without a family or a robot) -- but he's not Cameron Mitchell -- and, um, there's this chick whose name begins with an A -- like Aryan, but she's not blond and let's not go there. Anyway, she's not Vala and probably not a space pirate, but I could be wrong about that. John and not-Aryan are shippy, and actually make out onscreen, so ship wars or romo/nonromo wars are non-existent in this fandom. I think. I hope. Because the other characters are muppets. But no Animal or Swedish Chef or Beaker, so clearly missing out on the good stuff. Fans claim it's the best thing shown on TV ever ever EVER, although they admit there are a few eps the show went right off the rails. Now they're just waiting for Cam and Vala to make out.

See, I fell for Sandra Oh when I saw her in the fine Canadian movie "Last Night".

And then I was tragically disappointed to find out that Grey's Anatomy did not in fact revolve round her character, but had various pointless whiny people.

And that made me sad.

Yep, that's pretty much true. Although:

there's this chick whose name begins with an A -- like Aryan, but she's not blond and let's not go there.

Well, she was a Space Nazi, so the show did go there (she got better, though [/python]).

so ship wars or romo/nonromo wars are non-existent in this fandom.

This is completely true. But not just because we have this freakish Canon Het Pairing That Actually Works.

No, it's also because pretty much every single conceivable pairing (m/f, m/m, f/f, f/androgyne, m/muppet, m/f/m ...), is either canon or heavy and deliberate subtext. This is the most polymorphously perverse show ever.

although they admit there are a few eps the show went right off the rails.

Correction: many, many eps where the show went completely off the rails. These are usually the best ones.

Now they're just waiting for Cam and Vala to make out.

Actually, as far as I can see, most of us crossover Scapers are waiting for Cameron and Teal'c to make out.

'Cause we're all about the hot alien lovin', baybee.

I could go for some Teal'c/Vala too. Because they seem to amuse each other, and they also each get aspects of the other's experiences (First Prime and ex-Goa'uld-host) that nobody else at the SGC really can.

There is CANON MUPPET PORN. *has post-traumatic flashbacks*

The Farscape PTB happily went with quite a number of pairings that even the fic-writers won't touch, and that's saying something.

Totally with you on the Cam/Teal'c though.

Actually, it's fascinating - relatively few of the 'Scape people seem to have gone for Cam/Vala. But a bunch of us fell for Teal'c in a big way.

Supernatural: The kid from Dark Angel, who is unfortunately not wearing glasses in this role, and the kid from the OC team up with a fabulous car to travel the country fighting crime evil and ostensibly looking for someone, although I think they may have found him several times already. Apparently now they spend a lot of time together fighting evil (with their car) because they're brothers, but it could also be because they're shagging (in their car). Some people have no problem with them as brothers shagging, but some think both concepts together presents something of a moral dilemma. To which I say at least it's not Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and while I've never seen the show, I have no problem with someone hooking me up with teh good smut because dayum, those boys are pretty. And so is the car.

But a bunch of us fell for Teal'c in a big way.

And it was a contagious thing. When we met, I was happily wallowing in the Jack/Daniel old married love, but I think the Scapers realized the potential of a character who used to be your enemy and is now your friend, coping with freedoms they've never had before.

It's a potential arc that Stargate will, likely, never really play, because their so episodic, but it's perfect for fanfic. And seriously, Cam is such a fanboy. And frankly, more of a little black dress than any other Stargate character, even Daniel.
