Dear brain,
This is a really, really bad time to be going haywire. Please to be desisting with the migraines until after August 19th.
Thank you,
-You
Dear weather.
You're not helping, though I appreciate the 70 degree weather as opposed to the triple digits, the low pressure/high pressure things makes my brain go boom. Seriously, knock it off.
No love,

Dear Methods chapter.
If I had the ability to handle movement, smell or light, and also if I had Sal's icon, I would be triumphing in your entrails.
You will now go cite all the other relevent sources to the stuffs I wrote down in you while I turn off all the lights and crawl into bed.
'Kaythanksbye.

Date: 2006-07-31 07:34 am (UTC)FWIW, the best options I've found are Migraleve (not sure if you get it in the US, but it's a paracetamol/codeine/buclizine hydrochloride combo) and Tiger Balm (applied liberally across the scalp, forehead and back of the neck).

Date: 2006-07-31 06:04 pm (UTC)I have the meds sorted out enough that I can head off the pain and the wonky vision issues if I realize what's happening early enough. The sensitivity to smell and the nausea are apparently not to be avoided (it's a problem in the country sometimes if, say, the wind is blowing in from the chicken farms).
I functioned for the two hours I needed to finish the chapter, then I took a bath, read some Sandman and crashed for a good 12 hours.
Thank goodness for medication. Better living through chemistry-- only the US won't sell codeine w/o a scrip, so I'm guessing we don't have Migraleve. Tigerbalm sounds intriguing. *wants to rub balm all over head and make hairs stand up in crazy directions*

Date: 2006-07-31 06:53 pm (UTC)Yup, that's why the buclizine is helpful. And the Tiger Balm pretty much ensures that you can't smell anything except Tiger Balm. It does produce a temporary punk look, but actually seems to help reduce the "my brain is in a vise" sensation a bit.

Date: 2006-08-01 01:40 am (UTC)Am damned thrilled to be turning in the diss this week. So bloody excited. Got beta comments back from a friend today and somehow the offer to buy her coffee in thanks turned into her providing me with homemade tirimasu. I love that girl. Also? Good comments.

Works wonders on stiff muscles, too. It's a permanent inhabitant of my medicine cabinet.
