There is stuff going down today.

There is stuff going down that may be beyond my ability to handle, it's so good.

There is so much overwhelmingly wonderful stuff going down today that even the fact that my phone appears to have thoroughly died feels like an amazing, flail-worthy, wonderful thing. That is how beyond my head I am right now.

Flailing.

raqs, who is so wonderful I'm not sure I deserve her, declared me a new fanfiction genre. And no, not declared it for me, declared me to be a new fanfiction genre. With fanon and raven locks and multiple ficlets! People are writing wonderfully hilarious fics!

alizarin_nyc wrote a Minxy Sue ficlet in which Jack and Daniel adore me and then Sam appears to foil their plans for adoration. I have purple-blue eyes and raven locks. (No, no! It's okay, it's a comment-fic. It won't hurt.)

ivorygates wrote a Minxy Sue Fic in which SG teams are trying to win me fairly as booty in poker games but Sam keeps cheating and diverting me to private rooms. I have eyes the color of a Goa'uld personal shield and a knack for naquadah power generator science and I am BOOTY. *glee*

This is teh awesome. I think, too, that all Kate Heightmeyer fic ought to be included as a sub-category in the Minxy-Sue genre since I am fairly convinced any stories with her in them are all about me (especially when she gets the girl). But seriously, this is amazing. I want to hug you and squeeze you and love you and call you 'George.'

troyswann unknowingly helped define the genre before it was a genre by using the word 'minxy' (which I have totally made up, btw. The word 'minx' means a pert girl, complete with adjective. To add a y adjectivizes a noun which comes supplied with it's own adjective already,and makes no sense but is wonderful nonetheless) in a fic! And everyone totally doesn't care that it's not a real word because it's soooooo appropriate. Contains Teyla and Cadman, some of my very favorite minxy chicks. Wanna Ride? Let's Ride. Gen, PG or something, and wonderful.

rydra_wong posted the Sha're fic (Scotoma) I have been loving in SILENCE (well, I told RW, obviously) ever since I was first bounced with the idea. And

cofax7 has posted a fantastic Firefly/Farscape crossover too for Thea (Contredanse) in which Aeryn and Zoe are wonderful and there are witty subtitles to the chapter headings.

But I will save that for another proper recs post, along with more explicit love for a not work-safe Mitchell/Sheppard Retrograde fic (Expatriate) from

ltlj, wot I read of the fics I've been linked for Sam/Jack (about halfway through), a great Daniel in absentia gen fic about trying to replace him during S6 (Numerology by Random--thanks Aurora) and all the other stuff I've read lately.

BECAUSE.

The dissertation defense date is being set. *is wide-eyed* Barring last minute adjustments here and there to the starting hour, or perhaps the day if the auditorium is full, and Mom and Dad shifting their plans to go to Alaska back 3 days so as to be there and throw parties and turning in the final paperwork and stuff....

I have a tentative date. It is August 17th.
