Actually a very fascinating person, that guy. Really into reading and libraries and a displaced Roman tax collector, if memory serves. Totally deserving of a toast or two, and I'd be willing to bet he wouldn't mind being associated with such good beer.

Speaking of, if any of you are not particularly fond of stout, just slide that pint of Guinness down my way. I'm happy to help and would be willing to trade all sorts of other beverages, including light beer, which isn't even in the same league, but I digress.

If I were a saint, I would love to have a beer holiday associated with my good name, that's the bottom line; but dark beer only, let's be clear.

For your viewing pleasure:

Rodney being stunningly in post-traumatic character; Clothed in Sealace by [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777 in a tag for Grace Under Pressure. John/Rodney. I loved the quiet reveal of where he stands with John, and loved how single minded he is in his trauma, to the point where he is absolutely oblivious to his surroundings and even his own person.

[livejournal.com profile] kitakatzz has created a Teyla vid from the Garbage song 'When I Grow Up', (link to post) which is just kick-ass. Sometimes I wonder why there isn't the knee-jerk anti-girl slasher reaction to Teyla like there is for Sam, and then I wonder if it isn't because Elizabeth is the lightening rod for all of that, unfortunately pinned as she is to a popular het pairing. There's certainly inconsistencies in the writing for each of them, and Teyla herself has more 'canon' attraction moments with Sheppard than Wier has, but it's possible that I've gotten too good at ignoring fandom politics and I'm just out of the loop... Anyway, I love women who kick butt and take names, and this vid celebrates it; to the tune of a very interesting piece of music.

[livejournal.com profile] paian also points me to the DVD commentary for [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic's Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose, and I love those things and I loved that story.

I seem to remember writing a commentary once, but I appear to have not actually posted it. *shrugs* Can't remember which fic it was, either. If you'd like to know the thought processes behind one of my fics (I don't have a webpage, but they're all listed on the right of my layout) just ask in the comments; I'd be happy to write it for you, I think the things are just fascinating. I'm likely to be uber-analytical about it, though. Fair warning.

Music Meme: (snagged from [livejournal.com profile] monanotlisa)

1. How does the world see you? Doo Wop (That Thing), Lauryn Hill. Just call me Dr. Ruth with the street wise sex advice

2. Will I have a happy life? Some Kind of Wonderful, Joss Stone. classic with a soul beat. Nice.

3. What do my friends really think of me? She Will Be Loved, Maroon 5. And to think, I was going to be embarrassed that you guys saw this on my iTunes...

4. Do people secretly lust after me? Down To The River To Pray, AKUS People, all you gotta do is *ask*, the praying is really ott and significantly less practical.

5. How can I make myself happy? It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine), REM HAHAHAHAHA!!!! So, this meme is telling me that it is that bad, but that I should really chill out about it?

6. What should I do with my life? Proud Mary, Creedence Clearwater Revival. 'Kay, but you're encouraging vices, here; you know that, right?

7. What is some good advice for me? Crazy, Patsy Cline. *perplexed* I'm crazy for feelin' so lonely? Is that a bitch-slap from a meme?

8. How will I be remembered? Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You, Lauryn Hill. I don't know what that means.

9. What is my signature dancing song? You Had Me, Joss Stone I love 'em and leave 'em, I guess. Disco song with a rock beat is a great dancin' tune, though.

10. What do I think my current theme song is? Message In a Bottle, the Police. I would've thought it would be something more along the lines of 'Watch Me Beat My Committee With a Stick.'

11. What does everyone else think my current theme song is? When You Say Nothing At All, AKUS Is it that you want me to shut up, or you're under the misguided assumption that I won't tell you allllll about it if you ask?

12. What song will play at my funeral? Life By the Drop, Stevie Ray Vaughn. Just because I've been talking about alcohol a LOT lately does not mean I'm going to drink myself to death. Ignore that default icon.

13. What type of men/women do you like? Mushaboom, Feist. I am an enigma, even to myself. Actually this is a cute song about finally having a house. So, I'm attracted to people with... houses? How material of me.

14. What is my day going to be like? Fallen, Sarah McLachlan. I hate you, day! Don't look at me. *thunders*

For the record, I so didn't cheat; that's what it played. No kidding.

Even though I am Irish (in part at least), I'm a little upset with the guy. He's responsible for destroying countless druidic texts, all in the name of Christendom. One method he employed was by throwing a druidic text and the Bible in a river. If the book drowned, it was deemed unworthy by God. Kind of tells you how weighty the druid texts were. We hardly know anything about druids, and this is one of the main reasons why we will never know. *is sad now*.

Agreed. Beer can be my mascot. Especially stout. In fact, today I am wearing my Guinness boxers as well as my Guinness T-shirt. Will be cracking open the Guinness Extra Stout when I get home from work. Mmmmm, Liquid Bread. *g*

Oh, and I didn't cheat and look at the meme-thing. I may yet do that this evening. Should be intreesting with a nice beer in hand.

Oooooh...I like that meme. I must remember to do that on Sunday when I am back at school and my laptop with all my good music is hooked up to the 'net.

Well, you can look at MY meme thing, you just have to be honest when you play it yourself and not pick out or skip songs. Must be random, see?

Re: Patricus. *sigh* Why must people destroy stuff? Libraries! We love them! I aspire to one of those Great English House libraries that get passed down from generation to generation... Maybe when I grow up.

The burning of the Library at Alexandria is another sore point for me. I get all sad and misty-eyed thinking about it.

I've made several designs for my "dream house" (not that I would ever be able to afford to have one built) and they all revolve around the library. It's an important feature.

Yes, I hold a grudge against Mr. Patrick, but then the holiday these days is all about the beer. So I'm cool with it. Am home now with Guinness in hand. Will see if any friends want to go out. Of course that means I'll miss Dr. Who.
