I'm still here, I still like Houston way a lot. 'Specially if this weather holds because Pacific Northwesterners? We forget what that big round orb making light and warmth in the sky is most winters. *curls up in the sun like a cat*

*or not, cause the sun has gone down now, but will curl up like a cat tomorrow*

In the meantime, to celebrate being productive today, I'm eating dinner, watching Monty Python and collecting my recs... Yay!

Fanfic recs:

Continuing the trend I've seen lately of appreciating the peeps comes Madelyn Appreciation Day AKA [livejournal.com profile] favoritefangirl for [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn. I think that's just brilliant, seeing as she seems to be everywhere enough that I've met her in silico a couple of times and really liked the things she had to say. I also like the things she inspires, including a spate of John/Rodney fics that were really sumpin' sumpin'.

I particularly liked [livejournal.com profile] astolat's Composition, the third part of the rather voyeuristicly grand tagteamed trilogy of guh: Resolution by [livejournal.com profile] resonant8 and Clarity by [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza being the first two parts.

Also liked Lists and Candy Bars by [livejournal.com profile] violetsmiles and Focus/Wealth by [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone.

More stuffs:

Separate from that is a lovely Teyla POV slashfic by [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777 called Delicately Balancing.

Jack/Daniel, mmmmm: [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt wrote Carved. It's lovely. Sexy and forbidden and utterly normal.

And, continuing the theme of Everyone Please Consider Signing Up for the Undersubscribed [livejournal.com profile] tealc_ficathon (500 word minimum, easy payments!) we have two! TWO TEAL'C FICS! ETA: THREE! *glee*

First, something old: [livejournal.com profile] psychofilly's Untitled Sam and Teal'c Have a Bonding Moment and Hammond has to Poke Jack in the Ribs to Make Him Behave fic. This is why you should name your own fics, people. But seriously, I really thought I'd recc'd this before...

Next, something new: [livejournal.com profile] minnow1212's Something Sweet, which is gen, marvelously layered and just really fine.

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] delphia2000 Commentfic'd for ME here. This, ladies and gentlemen (if there are any) is a totally acceptable way to decline ficathon participation in my world, especially if one's attention is usually focused on M7 cowboy love but she wrote MY pairing for me (which would be Cam/Teal'c at the moment.) *loves*

Also, I've been reading Peg B again, and this time [livejournal.com profile] dirty_diana's Angels in the Architecture. It's beautiful. Not the Ba'al 'verse, for those who've noticed how often I rec from that offshoot, this is just a cloud of an aftermath, and the reality of living in a place where the rules are constantly being rewritten; you question everything after a while. [livejournal.com profile] pengke's creepy girl They Whisper From the Silence is a nifty coda. [livejournal.com profile] sffan's Resurrection is also a fantastic sequel to Angels in the Architecture. Poor Rodney, though.

So, I don't ever read Teal'c fic. But tonight, I read Teal'c fic. And do y'know what? I actually liked them. Alot. My goodness...now...now I'm wondering if I ought to go look for more Teal'c fic? Oh dear...

a convert!

Well, if you wanted to, you might mosey over to the right hand side of my LJ and click on the fanfic rec LIST OF LOVE for Teal'c, and you'd probably keep out of trouble for a while.

And you might if you think you could survive the experience, go sign up for the tealc_ficathon along with the other 8 of us and contribute to the good Teal'c fic!

Teal'c is wonderful. He's underloved on the show and underrepresented in fanfic, but there is untapped depth of character and story there. Plus, he's easy on the eyes. And good with make-up.

Thanks, as ever for the recs (always find some gems I haven't read when you do this) and the kind words.

And I'll think about what I'd like for the Teal'c ficathon and sign up tomorrow, promise. If it's short, I can do it and it sounds like a nice old-fashioned ficathon if it's 500 minimum; they used to be exactly 1,000 when I arrived on LJ and then they got way longer...

*hugs yooooooou for coming to the ficathon party*

You know I love your stuff, I don't just boost to make friends and influence people. *g* And it's really a relief to have someone still producing Jack/Daniel fic in such refreshing ways. *sighs* I do love those boys. *cuddles with Jack and Daniel*

I'm cold, in case you can't tell. *cuddles with everyone*

For what it's worth, I've just finished a month of recc-ing Teal'c fic at [livejournal.com profile] stargateficrec, so there are a bunch more there - lots of overlaps with [livejournal.com profile] _minxy_'s list, of course, but also some new ones. Gen, slash, het, crack!fic - just click on the Teal'c tag.

*tempts*

It was sunny today! And unseasonably warm! I eschewed my wool overcoat tonight and wore my leather jacket. And even with the wind it felt quite pleasant walking from the bar to my car. *g*

It was 83 degrees yesterday. I am NOT KIDDING. Apparently, and in a daring move different from most places I've lived, Texans hide from the Summer, and enjoy perfect weather in February. *sundance*

I've dressed in layers 'cause they have AC running in buildings, but outside? Tank tops or short sleeves. *soaks up the sun*

In a totally non-biased way, too - I think it's an interesting story and it explores a perspective on the relationships in the team that I've never seen before.

(Just e-mailed you beta on the remix, btw.)

OOoooh, something to look forward to, along with stellahobbit's new John/Rodney fic. I really need to head to the hospital now (it's 8:30, just in case you had a handle on what time zone I used to be in), but thank yoooooou very much; I'll look forward to playing creatively tonight.

I'm glad you like the Teal'c story. It's hard to get his voice and keep the movement in there when he's so reflective and by nature still (until he's not) and I was still new to the fic writing at that point, but seriously, there was very little f/b love for T. Nice to have a rec go out about that one in particular considering it wasn't loudly commented on in the usual f/b crack way.

It's chilly here, too :;shivers:: ::makes us both hot chocolate and builds a log fire::

And don't worry; not abandoning these two any time soon; I only just got here! :-)

Oooooo... so much new lovely to read! I look forward to your posts sweetie, ya know that?

There's an orb up there? *looks at rain & clouds* *shivers*

I'm bringing you pictures. Proof, you understand.

I'm so glad you like my recs. I can watch my collection of lurkers grow, but there's nothing like a nice little thank you comment. *lifts a glass*

And, congrats again.
