Wow. I'm really glad you pointed this out, because there are so many things that I adore about this fic. This is such a fantastic glimpse into season 4 Daniel's psyche. Daniel's confused, quite possibly dying, but his primary concern is still about the mission and his teammates' welfare. And I'm in love with this line: Perhaps his own life was something he would come to value because they did. That's something that's always struck me about Daniel--how little value he places on his own life--and you've captured that perfectly here.
And the way that Daniel's thoughts kept going back to Sha're and her final moments is just fantastic. As is the implication that now, as Daniel faces the possibility of his own death, he is finally able to find some peace with Sha're's death.
Also, bonus points for the idea of an Alien Rosetta Stone. Very cool.
