Let us not speak of my 50% success rate at posting once a week in April. It was a silly arbitrary number, anyway. I am pleased that I posted at all at this point.
And for today's posting, I am here to tell you that I made a spectacular farfalle carbonara this evening, and in planning it, I was only conscious of what might go wrong (I didn't have enough parmesean, no leeks, what if there isn't any bacon in the freezer? etc. It was very boring.) And I decided to come home without stopping at the store anyway, because I've been fighting a stupid plane cold (it's con crud, without the fun of it being a sci fi con... or so I've heard,) and I'm tired. I'm tired, but *hungry* for the first time in days, and therefore! Pasta. Delicious carbonara with asparagus and bacon and sweet onion and it was excellent.
Here is how you make carbonara:
Cook the pasta, reserve 1/4 cup cooking liquid.
Cook the other stuff (bacon, vegetables, whatever) and add the pasta to it when it's done.
Whisk 2 room temperature eggs with 1/2 cup shredded parmesean cheese.
Whisk the hot cooking liquid into the eggs to temper.
Fold the egg mix into the rest.
Salt, pepper, nom.
I do realize I'm not terribly interesting, fannish-wise, lately. Sorry about that. In recompense, I give you a photo of my feets, wearing my wonderous colorwork socks. They are too big, but I loves them.
Also, have a photo of my fabulous sweetheart, hunting lemons. He's in there, I swear (grinning very goofily) it's just that the tree needs a significant haircut. To fully appreciate the hidden man, I must tell you that he's wearing overalls and steel-toed workboots, also he's on the garage roof, and had just tapped on the kitchen window to get my attention before hiding in the tree branches.
Yeah, guys, I can't think of anything else to say at this time. Um, I've just started reading up on the scholarship of women and minorities in science? I am just out of brains to make that sound as interesting as it is.
Anyway, holla if you have questions about whatever, the floor is open. Also, if you're hungry, c'mon over.
