Mar. 11th, 2008 04:19 pmMy computer, in a gesture of epic fail, a moment of Victorian theatricality, a fit of melodramatic passion, seems to have sputtered and died all of a sudden today.
Safe-boot? Failed. Reset PRAM? Failed. Reset firmware? No love. IT guy? No help (but diagnosed dual corruption in both the hard drive and optical drives, what?) The certified tech on campus? Backed up until tomorrow afternoon. Laptop? Alone in the ER overnight. Poor lil' guy.
I solicit prayers and good will, of course (this is my brave face, but I did back up my data, oh, two weeks ago, I think, so that's a plus) but the real reason for this post is as follows:
rydra_wong has just posted an extraordinary gen SG-1 novel. It's Jack centric, goes AU in season six, and is some of the most amazing characterization of anyone, protagonists down to secondary characters with a total of 15 minutes of canon fame. This is like nothing else out there, guys, and it's *stunning*.
Also, understand I was a teensy bit involved in the process, so I am biased, but also one of those most familiar and excited about this going live.
Worth navigating the murky waters of posting from a work computer to squee about, I'd say!
