Feb. 6th, 2006 02:46 pmI am sitting here typing in a pimp-tastic red silk robe that a friend of mine gave me as a joke. I haven't worn it before, but it seems appropriate now. I do have other clothes on, though, don't worry.
brighidestone wrote a marvelous first kiss for Mal and River, complete with happy nutty River statements and confused confused 'going to the special hell just for THINKING this' Mal. Stays pretty sweet, but still, River is at her ease about things a lot faster than other people sometimes, and it just feels like Mal is going to have to catch up sooner or later. First Kiss. Part of a series on Kissing, which is a marvelous trend in my writerly fannish world, I must say.
cofax7 has tagged Ethon with Debrief in a glorious moment we should see on T.V. I mean that. Because mistakes were made. And oh, I hope her characterization of Mitchell is the one we will continue to see.
amific has written Scenes from a Lesser War, an SGA, NC-17, McKay/Sheppard fic with subtlety and nuance and the twist at the end makes it amazing and gives the whole thing a bit of a bittersweet tang. Recommended. Longer.
Daniel. Always running. The Proximity of Beads from
jenlev. Beautiful images abound: Daniel's recurring dream of glaciers, his comfort under the mountain, his sense of dislocation and alienation from Earth, his understanding that the team is unraveling. Lovely.
So, who was it who was afeared that everyone was jumping the Jack/Daniel fic writing ship? Oh, right, it was
destina who has decided to solve her own problem by posting a S7 (and AU thereafter) Jack/Daniel NC-17 beauty called Descant.
It's a gorgeously painful story, and it pulls no punches from the opening lines. I find this grand. Marvelous. Refreshing. I believe that Daniel and Jack would make painful decisions, would hurt each other and believe their own rationalizing that it's for the best yadda. Because it's a place to start, a way to begin to come back, the beginning of a story. It may not be a happy story, there are no guarantees, of course, not with Destina, who has no fear of sadness and arcing into or through darkness, but it is guaranteed to be beautiful and to take your breath away. Sam and Teal'c in their changing and staying the same are extraordinary supporting characters as well.
